And you thought tonight was going to be hype because of Matt Harvey. Well, the Jays lost this afternoon so this is a big one for the Yanks, no matter who starts for the Mets. Yanks win, they’ll go up to Toronto two-and-a-half out. (Regardless, they’ll be without their Ace.)

Fuck you National League and your fuckng non-DH rule.
Chen Ming Wang had his entire rosy career destroyed by having to run the bases.
And now my man Tanaka is out for who knows how long because he had to run the bases.
And I believe that the NL is the one and only league in the entirety of organized baseball to make the pitcher bar.

2 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 6:08 pm

Can we just dump the idea of pitchers hitting?

3 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 6:10 pm

Great minds

4 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 6:44 pm

Yeah, I said something along the same lines on the last thread.

I fucking hate the NL!

5 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:11 pm

I hate this stupid fucking strike zone graphic bullshit they do.

6 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:11 pm

good lord, jacoby has been terrible.

7 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:12 pm

Wait, holy fuck, what about Tanaka????

8 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:14 pm

harvey's on tonight.

9 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:15 pm

[7] Grade 1 hammy strain. But it's always such fun to watch elite athletes risk injury doing something they aren't used to doing. Not

10 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:18 pm

sigh

11 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:18 pm

cc is not matt harvey.

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:18 pm

Pitchers run more than anybody on the team. Players get hurt. Tanaka could break an ankle shagging balls during bp.

13 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:18 pm

[9] Yeah, really.

14 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:20 pm

Crap

15 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:20 pm

bollocks.

16 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:20 pm

[12] I was wondering about that. I mean, it's not clear to me why running the bases is such risky business for pitchers. They do actually work out and jog and do conditioning, right? It's not like they just pitch and neglect the rest of their bodies.

Fuck.

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:20 pm

Oh, boy.

18 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:21 pm

you know cespedes is gonna break out of his slump right here...

19 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:21 pm

[12] Like, shouldn't it be WAY more likely they'd get injured fielding their position than running the bases anyway?

20 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:21 pm

52 vs. 52

21 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:26 pm

Base running is different as you've got to go zero to 60 in one second. And you're trying to beat a throw.

22 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:28 pm

CC, he don't look too sharp.

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:32 pm

[21] Yeah, I guess, but fielding a bunt or a tapper can involve great strain. And especially covering first, that's extremely risky but they're generally athletic enough to pull that off routinely. I'm not sure why running the bases should be any more dangerous than racing a runner to first, catching a throw, stepping on a bag and avoiding getting stepped on or collided with.

24 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:33 pm

Oh, CC.

25 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:34 pm

jesus. cc gonna reach his pitch limit in the first fucking inning.

26 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:35 pm

[23] all true. I just want to eliminate one more risky situation. Fielding your position can't be eliminated

27 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:36 pm

Finally.

28 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:36 pm

30+ pitches & listening to kruk. ugh. amazing only 1 run scored.

29 MSM35   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:36 pm

CC really has very little left. 91 mph without great location get you hit hard.

30 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:37 pm

Tanaka could have pulled his hammy covering first on a ground ball. Or jogging off the mound after pitching 8 perfect innings. Shit happens.

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:39 pm

[26] Right.

32 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:39 pm

holy fucking slow.

33 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:40 pm

For example.

34 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:42 pm

GI Joe!

35 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:42 pm

Joe's pissed

36 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:42 pm

Wow. He didn't get tossed?

37 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:45 pm

Stick your rabbit ears up your ass, blue. If you don't like it don't make horseshit calls.

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:46 pm

Joe might have pulled a hammy racing the length of the dugout. ; )

39 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:47 pm

I understand how Joe feels. Watching CC, while being forced to listen to Kruk at the same time; my psychotic reaction has my wife about to toss me out of the house.,

40 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:49 pm

[38] Girardi is probably the best conditioned member of the team.

41 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:52 pm

that's better, sabs.

42 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:52 pm

Nice play, CC.

43 MSM35   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:55 pm

[37]Hershbeck told Joe to "shut up". Totally disrespectful comment by an umpire to the manager and Joe told him off as he should have. To quote him " Don't you tell me to ___in shut up"

44 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:56 pm

Damn. Didi shouldn't have tried to pull that pitch.

45 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 7:58 pm

Good hustle.

46 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:00 pm

[43] I'd like to see Hirschbeck miss another check swing call with the Mets up to really get Joe going.

47 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:04 pm

Beltran should look away.

48 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:04 pm

Damn it.

Fuck.

49 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:05 pm

Don't try to pull that! Just look away and hit it where it's pitched!

50 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:06 pm

Wild pitch would be nice. Or a hit.

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:07 pm

I swear to God that's a good pitch to hit the other way. Please just stop trying to pull the ball.

52 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:07 pm

No matter what a great AB from Beltron

53 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:08 pm

Motherfucker.

54 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:08 pm

That's Beltran...

55 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:08 pm

Dang, but at least Carlos drove up the pitch count

56 MSM35   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:08 pm

Great AB. If CC can keep them in the game Harvey at 54 pitches will be out soon.

57 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:11 pm

[56] A might big if, alas.

58 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:11 pm

mighty

59 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:12 pm

I hate to say this, CC is a ticking time bomb.

60 MSM35   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:15 pm

Biggest junk-baller in history.

61 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:18 pm

Wow, nice work, CC.

Keep that shit up.

62 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:22 pm

Hirschbeck sucked last night behind the plate, and now this. As someone here used to say, I'm feeling stabby right now. Here's Joe in action:

https://usatftw.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/mbojnfu1.gif

63 MSM35   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:28 pm

Hirschbeck was always known for having a big strike zone.

64 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:29 pm

3 @#@$ games this week? Bollocks.

65 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:29 pm

i'll ask this again over the next few games, but...

any chance any banterers will be at The Stadium this Thursday - 9/24 vs. Pale Hose? I'll be sitting in Section 215, behind Beli : )

66 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:32 pm

wait. so GI Joe was ejected after all?

i went out to grab dinner... the umps were sucking and that "shut up" shit was a bunch o' bollocks.

67 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:32 pm

will the IBB draw out RI?!

68 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:33 pm

[67] it was a benign one to face the hitter, so maybe not...

69 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:34 pm

Wow. Look at CC go!

70 MSM35   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:35 pm

I love NL baseball.

71 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:38 pm

[66] actually in between innings.

72 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:40 pm

75 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:41 pm

i can see didi doing some special things in the postseason - in the field and at the plate.

i wouldn't have said that the first half of the season...

76 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:44 pm

Collarbone? Second one today, and while I can't be happy about any injury, Romo going down hurts the Cowboys. I hate the Cowboys

77 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:45 pm

Yay, Harvey is out

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:48 pm

Harvey is a dick, sorry Mets fans.

79 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:49 pm

I broke mine 2 summers ago. Bad flashbacks watching that putrid game earlier.

80 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:54 pm

81 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 20, 2015 8:54 pm

95 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 9:04 pm

We have seen the last of Drew in the starting lineup. Ryan next.

117 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 20, 2015 9:16 pm

Considering how dickish Mets fans were on Friday, this feels pretty good, no matter what happens later.

118 rbj   ~  Sep 20, 2015 9:16 pm

So ESPN is stealing Sterlings "you can't predict baseball" line?

119 thelarmis   ~  Sep 20, 2015 9:16 pm
