You Gotta Believe!

the dark knight

It’s Matt Harvey, the so-called Dark Knight with the season on the line in Game 5 tonight in Queens.

The fans have been great at Citi Field. Last game home game of the season, be beautiful to end it on a high note.

Volquez on the hill for the Royals and it’s hard not to root for him after his father’s death. Whole lot on the table…

Let’s Go Base-ball!

Drawing by the great Frank Miller.

Extend it to Wednesday, cause after that, no games until March. Over a hundred days.

And rip Fred Thompson. Leaving politics aside, I enjoyed his acting.

Grandyman can!

3 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 8:34 pm

I can't watch Tuesday or Wednesday, so I'm hoping to see a celebration tonight.

NHK doesn't have commercials, so during the break we were treated to clips from the '69 WS and of course "The Buckner Game." The clips from '69 were really cool. Seaver sloshing champagne all over the place. Ticker-tape parade in Manhattan.

Harvey pretty good early.

6 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 9:08 pm

8 Boatzilla   ~  Nov 1, 2015 9:16 pm

[5] Yes Harvey is on. Now, how about some fucking runs, man!

[Note: I mistakenly put this comment in the previous thread]

10 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 9:28 pm

wow. how was that NOT a strike?

damn. hey, i don't like harvey and i'm rooting for the royals, but that was a pretty shitty call.

11 rbj   ~  Nov 1, 2015 9:32 pm

Dang, Bat Harvey is filthy tonight

12 Boatzilla   ~  Nov 1, 2015 9:59 pm

Every time the ball gets hit toward Murphy, I hold my breath.

13 rbj   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:11 pm

Ouchie. Does not look good.

14 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:11 pm

Man, that looks so fucking painful.

Remember when it happened to Jermaine Dye?

15 rbj   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:12 pm

Standing on it, but take him out of the game. Hmm . . .

16 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:19 pm

good job by edinson to get out of it with only 1 run.

royals down by 2 headed to the last third of the game - just how they want it!

17 Boatzilla   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:30 pm

[14] Dang. A similar kind of "ouchie" ended Tex's season this year.

18 Boatzilla   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:44 pm

Could Harvey Go. All. The. Way?

19 yankintexas   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:49 pm

Unfamiliar territory...

20 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:53 pm

holy crap, harvey's still in. i imagine his leash is very short...

21 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:58 pm

wow. i'm not shocked in the slightest. couldn't believe the dark diva was headed out for the 9th.

22 yankintexas   ~  Nov 1, 2015 10:58 pm

Ungood.

23 Boatzilla   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:00 pm

You can't make this stuff up.

24 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:02 pm

I have a bad feeling about this.

[22] Doubleplus ungood.

25 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:05 pm

holy FUCK!!!

what an idiot for going, but duda sucks at fielding. and wow. just WOW!!!

26 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:06 pm

The Royals forced the action.

They deserve to win.

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:06 pm

Ha. Good.

28 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:06 pm

Giambi used to throw like that.

29 Boatzilla   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:20 pm

Collins is toast.

30 thelarmis   ~  Nov 1, 2015 11:43 pm

joe fuck keeps talking about football. asshole.

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:04 am

Man, talk about execution.

What a fundamentally sound baseball team these Kansas Cities are.

32 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:07 am

Fuck.

33 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:07 am

wow!!!!

dude's first a-b of the postseason and he comes thru.

3-2 KC!

34 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:13 am

alicdes gets a hit every game. every game!

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:18 am

These fuckers are like the 2002 Angels.

36 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:19 am

it's just unbelievable to watch.

first pitch by The Tolo, bases clearing double. good IBB, TC!

5 runs in the 12th (so far). should be plenty for Wade Davis.

37 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:19 am

[33] Amazing, right?

38 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:20 am

[35] well, these guys are quite likable. fuck those halos!

39 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:20 am

[37] it really is. turns out, that dude was the 4th overall pick in his draft - 3 picks higher than harvey!

40 yankintexas   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:21 am

Well I guess Collins is going to get raked over the coals or something else not pleasant.

41 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:23 am

i still can't believe harvey went out for the 9th. after doing so, i figured he'd be pulled immediately if he got in trouble. a leadoff walk should be considered trouble. nope. ridiculous...

42 Bronx Boy in NC   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:24 am

Suppose I told you six weeks ago Matt Harvey would lose Mets fans by wanting the ball too much.

43 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:26 am

muts have only mustered 3 hits this entire game. THREE!!!

44 yankintexas   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:33 am

Mets need a handful of Buckners right about now.

45 Bronx Boy in NC   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:34 am

Time to start lookin' out the window and thinkin' about spring. Night all.

46 thelarmis   ~  Nov 2, 2015 12:38 am

Congrats, KC!

You certainly deserve it. Really fun team to watch.
