‘Tis the Season

All’s quiet in Yankee land. Sure do hope you guys are enjoying your holidays. Meanwhile, there’s always this.

Update: Wait–I guess I spoke to soon. Between Castro and Chapman, the Yanks are going for talent-first, character-second players. Interesting…

Wasn't expecting that. So Miller gets flipped?

Strange move. Not like we had bullpen issues before. Our problem is getting the lead to the 9th inning.

1) Certainly seems like that's a possibility.

The spousal abuse stuff surrounding Chapman is disturbing. I hope Cashman knows what he's getting into...

Yeah, if there is anything to the DV stuff I wouldn't mind an 80 game suspension, even if there's not enough evidence to bring a court case.

Wow.
I don't like him at all, but we now have the scariest bullpen in the history of baseball.

Wow. I wonder if Cashman's gotten some reassurance that there won't be a suspension?

Or that there will be one, and it will be 50 games or more. (I think that's how many it would take to push Chapman's free agency off another season.)

Assume a 45 day suspension. Even 60. That would effectively take lots of pressure off the starters in June.

Alex, re: your opening comment. Strange that Arod is going to be a senior character guy. (What the heck did I just say?)

8) A year ago, Alex's career was ruined. I didn't think he'd make the major league team out of spring training never mind hit 32 home runs, appear on FOX in the playoffs, and generally rehabilitate his reputation so that now he's seen as a stabilizing, veteran presence. So, yeah, he's now seen as the guy who could be a good influence on a kid like Castro. Funny how things turn out.
