Out of Step (aka: Do Not Adjust Your Set)

bags shoes

Yeah, so I forgot to get up a game thread in time yesterday but it didn’t make much difference—the Yanks can’t seem to score these days despite putting runners on base: they lost to the Mariners, 7-1 on Friday and 3-2 yesterday. Alex Rodriguez, in an early-season slump, looked especially weak yesterday, didn’t he? Carlos Beltran is the only guy really hitting but it hasn’t been enough.

Another lovely spring day today. Here’s hoping they can reverse their fortunes.

Never mind the nonsense:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Not starting out well

I truly believe that if I came up to bat against the Yankees, the entire team would shift to the left side of the field like I was Jose fucking Bautista. You know, because I'm right handed and we think every hitter in baseball is a dead ass pull hitter

Phew, only one run

4 seamus   ~  Apr 17, 2016 12:34 pm

5 seamus   ~  Apr 17, 2016 12:35 pm

6 seamus   ~  Apr 17, 2016 12:41 pm

7 seamus   ~  Apr 17, 2016 12:44 pm

Nice. Way to snap out of that A-rod.

8 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 12:46 pm

Ah, missed it

9 seamus   ~  Apr 17, 2016 12:54 pm

two efficient innings in a row for Tanaka. And Cano loafing to first on the groundout. Old times!

Nice SB

11 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 12:59 pm

A hit with RISP!

Tough error

14 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 1:32 pm

Ouch

I was just at Target buying some whiffle ball stuff and a husband and wife were doing the same. The husband was complaining that his son wouldn't be able to hit anything. I said to them, "just like the Mets." Only because the guy was wearing a Mets jersey and hat. He laughed. : )

Yankee defense is really showing off today

Atta boy, Lil' G.

Perhaps Brett Gardner should try to steal a base off the guy that has ten caught stealings in his life

19 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 1:47 pm

I'll take that

20 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2016 1:47 pm

We'll take it.

21 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 17, 2016 1:48 pm

C'mon, A Rod, you can do it!

22 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 17, 2016 1:49 pm

Jeez, Alex, what are you looking for?

23 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 17, 2016 1:50 pm

Okay, he's ahead, 2-1. Put a good swing on one now...

24 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 17, 2016 1:50 pm

Fug.

25 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:05 pm

Disturbing.

26 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:10 pm

Good outing for Tanaka

27 RIYank   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:25 pm

Makes sense, with the off day tomorrow. I wouldn't have minded seeing another few pitches from Tanaka, but this is okay.

28 RIYank   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:27 pm

Damn. Yeah, it's just fine watching Betances.

29 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:29 pm

Sweet!

30 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:31 pm

Beata down!

31 RIYank   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:32 pm

Could Dellin be a starter? Because as fun as it is to watch the eighth with a lead, I feel like we're not getting as much out of him as we could. If he developed one more pitch?

32 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:39 pm

Miller time

33 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:41 pm

One down

34 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:42 pm

Two down

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:44 pm

Good.

36 rbj   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:44 pm

Three down! 6Ks

37 RIYank   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:45 pm

It's almost unfair.

38 seamus   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:48 pm

[32] "Miller Time" A time that gives me pleasure (baseball) and disgust (beer)

Nice win! Needed that to rebound from last few games.

39 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 17, 2016 2:48 pm

That was to script. Nice win.
Can Betances be a starter? Let the mystery be.

40 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 17, 2016 3:14 pm

Nice W.

Great win guys. Thanks for being there. I had to sleep, hated to miss my boy. Been juggling a cold with overseas visitors and a colossal work load. Fever's knocking on the door again today.

Hate to be a wet blanket, but I'd like to see some stats on how many first pitch HRs A-Rod had last year. It might my imagination (and fear of watching a declining giant) but he seems to connect at a much higher rate on the first pitch of a an AB anymore.

[42]Hey Boat, お大事に. I'm watching the game now, nice to see A-Rod's tater but man, Leiter and O'Neil are just awful. Al seems such a smig know-it-all and O'Neil's dumb-jock routine is maybe not a routine, how could he have never heard of the posting system for Japanese players?? He gets paid to watch baseball!

43 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 18, 2016 9:57 am

[42] I totally agree, Dude. I can't stand Leiter. Smarmy bastard. Ruins the game for me. O'Neil at least provides some decent insights on pitching and hitting, but he seems to be blissfully incurious about the world outside his universe.
