Hot Town Summer in the City

IMG_6910

Well, that was a ton of fun last night, right? A big come-from-behind win. Homers in the 9th, John Sterling extra excitable. And why not? There might not be many of these this season. For one night, our guys gave us a reason to smile—9 to 7 was the final. Then, this afternoon,  another walk-off—on a passed ball of all things—and more funski with a 2-1, win. Pineda was great and the Big Three were tough, tough, tough.

Bombers head out to…San Deigo tonight…because baseball is weird. Okay, so the Padres. Whatever.

Never mind the sunshine:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Ah west coast late night games. At least it's the even more sad sack Padres and not the fat squirrel Mike Scioscia

My strategy worked. I had, with all my heart (well at least 85%) decided to give up on the Yanks this year after "RainGate."

Now after having won two-straight with Gatorade and all the trimmings, they are dick teasing back in again. I guess I'll never learn.

Don't know if there's going to be a new game thread, but 10:40 is too late for me. Have to take the dogs to the park in the morning (they've got a great contract in exchange for that whole unconditional love thing) then errands and some yard work.

Indians Blue Jays game was crazy. Plus they've got a 1 pm start tomorrow.

4 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:10 pm

i think it was obvious that solarte was gonna do some damage. i imagine he's far from finished this series...

5 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:17 pm

i hate seeing my pitchers (attempting to) hit.

6 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:18 pm

this season, i hate seeing most of my hitters hit.

rbj with the rbi!

3-1

7 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:22 pm

rbj with the wheels! that's 15 stolen bases.

(if RI is reading, i'd like to clarify that's for the season thus far and not tonight. 15 SBs after one at-bat would be impressive. probably even a record of some sort.)

8 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:22 pm

yes, brett, that was indeed strike three.

9 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:26 pm

fuck shit piss hell.

of course, some guy named Schimpf just hit his first career homer in a huge ballpark. what the fuck happened to Vivaldi? i guess the summer is just not his season...

10 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:29 pm

after giving up 10 homers in june, he starts off july in tater fashion.

11 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:29 pm

some guy called Jankowski is up now. has to go yard, right? yeah, has to.

wait, he bunted. why bunt with that name? you passed on an easy homer!

12 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:30 pm

my jokes are awesome.

don't worry, i'll be here all night.

13 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:31 pm

if your name is myers, it's pretty obvious you're gonna strike out on 3 pitches. ok, fine, 4.

14 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:34 pm

rea pronounced ray.

tex batting .193

who's the guy on yes w/ singleton? lorenz?

15 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:35 pm

i don't think it's lorenz...

shift on. big puffy cheek full out swing.

tex gets hit by a pitch. ooh, fastball on the elbow. my guess is he'll be out until the all-star break... of 2019.

16 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:40 pm

beli most likely sitting this entire weekend.

mccann most likely popping up to ALEXEI.

then, a lame ass fucking double play. this "ray" guy keeps falling behind hitters. our hitters keep making outs. our pitcher keeps giving up runs. the house drummer for the banter keeps typing bollocks to no one. i'm going to get another beer...

17 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:44 pm

here's solarte. gotta be a homer. right? right.

young yangervis works the count to 3-1. now, full.

works a walk. just as good as a hit. a homer is a kind of hit.

18 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:45 pm

vivaldi looks like pavlano on the mound, but wears willie's number.

gives up homers like phil phranchise.

hey, look at that - a tailor made double play! we got one out only.

19 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:47 pm

this melvin guys looks *exactly* like BJ. in fact, i've never seen such a doppelgänger in my life.

either way, both of them just got picked off by the hottest season on the mound.

20 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:57 pm

hey, look at that! vivaldi allows the leadoff runner to reach base.

21 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:58 pm

schimpf doesn't even get a golf clap for his 2nd a-b.

watch him get a curtain call for his 2nd homer...

22 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 10:59 pm

has any rookie ever received a curtain call for a strikeout?

now is as good a time of any.

how will vivaldi fare versus the pitcher?

23 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:00 pm

rea skeiys a pop up.

24 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:03 pm

hey, senior league!

vivaldi leading off the inning. wahoo! FUCK the national league. free out, few pitches, major injuries, boring as fuck.

25 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:04 pm

first pitch weak groundout for rbj.

26 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:07 pm

Cy Rea. how many pitchers have the yankees faced this season whose ERAs were over 5.00 when they began the game and under it after facing our weak ass overpaid excuses for hitters? i bet it's A LOT!!!

27 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:10 pm

another leadoff runner for the friars.

this kid looks like khalil greene. remember him?

28 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:14 pm

BOOM!!! there it is.

2-run homer for wil myers. he should get an extra run to buy another "l" for his name. or, simply for how much he crushed that.

bye-bye .500.

29 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:17 pm

hey, let's leave him in. sure, why not.

30 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:19 pm

there's solarte. nice effort by rbj. shoulda had it. $153 million doesn't get you what it used to.

NOW, nathan is done for the evening...

31 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:24 pm

mullee? i hope he gets to bat for us. with a name like that, in this park, he'll hit a homer!

32 thelarmis   ~  Jul 1, 2016 11:32 pm

i guess i should let you all know that mac hit a homer.

33 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:04 am

Winnie in the house!

34 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:05 am

hicks sounds good on paper. not so much on the baseball field.

play ref everyday...somewhere. he should be rotating from rf, 2b, 1b, 3b.

35 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:05 am

fuckin' halos. woulda coulda shoulda...

36 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:06 am

solarte - single, double, walk, run.

boomer wells in the house too!

37 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:06 am

myers steals second. bad throw from brian. man on 3rd.

solarte about to add an rbi to his ledger.

38 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:08 am

did yangervis ever have a two walk game with the yanks?

oh, yay. swarzak coming into pitch. my night just keeps getting better!

39 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:18 am

oh, joy. good game for brian behind the dish. at least the run scoring on this passed ball isn't a game winner. this game was lost in the 1st inning by nathan.

40 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:23 am

big mac's beard is super silver. forgot he was the hitting coach for the friars...

41 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:26 am

the gritty one has looked baaaaaaaaaaaad lately. charleston's a cool town though. savannah's probably a little better...

42 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:27 am

hey, a nice little easy 1-2-3 inning.

for those of you not watching - all of you - the yankees were batting...

43 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:35 am

alright, everyone. i'm glad you all hung around. here it is - the final three outs.

to the top of the 9th we go at petco. the fun never ends!

get your predictions in now...

44 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:37 am

hey, look at that, it's Matt Thorn-Ton. but...he has a *massive* beard.

45 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:44 am

really? you're gonna boo alex that hard, but accept mcgwire as your hitting coach?

ha! alex gets a hit through the shift, the crowd cheers, a run scores. 1st and 2nd no out in the 9th. 7-3. unbelievable!

even crazier - a-rod just tied winfield on the all-time hits list. winnie's in the ballpark. 19th place. guess who's next on the list? yup, mr. padre himself. i mean, you can't make this shit up!

46 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:46 am

ooh, that was low ump.

let's go, didi!

47 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:47 am

nice fucking hit, didi! damn, dude.

alex shoulda scored but, you know, he's old and stuff. 2nd & 3rd, no out.

tying run at the plate. but it's hicks. might as well be a middle relief pitcher. wait, beli's on deck!

48 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:48 am

run scoring groundout.

7-5, man on 3rd, 1 out.

here's beli. i hope we don't lose 7-6...

49 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:49 am

funny how the rodney trade is looming large.

50 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:50 am

wow. ANOTHER wild pitch/passed ball run!

7-6, no one on, 1 out, beltran up.

hit a homer, hall of famer!

51 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:51 am

goddamn, i LOVE that motherfucker!

beltran with a *beautiful* gap double. was able to jog into 2nd. apparently, we can't pinch run for him. stoopid NL rules. put in a pitcher or romine. or chris gwynn. fuck.

52 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:53 am

dammit. beli on 3rd. two out. if gritner gets carlos home... ALEX IS PLAYING THE FIELD!!!

please tie the game. please tie the game. please tie the game.

53 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:53 am

HUGE "let's go yan-kees" chants going on. i fucking LOVE that!!!

54 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:54 am

i want another wild pitch. or passed ball. or balk.

get the run home!!!

55 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 12:56 am

fuck. we lost. no alex in the field.

only thing saved is our negative run differential.

56 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 1:22 am

had ellsbury scored in the first inning, as he certainly should have, we would've tied it in the 9th...

57 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 1:23 am

ellsbury did have another catchers interference. his 7th. almost had 8. that's the record.

for a season, not a game.

58 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 8:40 pm

Castro's batting third tonight and Nova's pitching. Feh.

59 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 8:50 pm

I'll tune in for as long as I can, but no promises.

60 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:09 pm

Ugh, Fox game

61 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:09 pm

Halos coming through tonight at the Fens! They've dropped a TWENTY spot on the shit sox!!! Still in the 7th. Laptop started. It's 20-1 and the 1 run was unearned.

I'd love for them to drop to .500 and below and for their top hitters to fall off the leader boards. I'd also like Manfred to contract the team. If that won't happen, at least demolish that little league ballpark.

My wish is that Fat Liar gets busted with PEDs before the season is out. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

62 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:10 pm

Fox Sports 1 apparently. I haven't tried to get it via the MLB package on Roku. Will try in a few...

63 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:15 pm

Pomeranz is having a good season...
Of course, Markus homered. 20-2

64 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:25 pm

Ichiro now 11 hits from 3000

65 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:28 pm

Nope. I can only get the game on FS1.

66 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:29 pm

Ichiro! Rocks

He's got 500 stolen bases, right?

I'd like to see a highlight reel of his batting practice homers. I think Boggs was pretty prestigious at that too.

67 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:36 pm

3 pm Monday for the hot dog eating contest. Four letter network

68 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:37 pm

Don't know about the stolen bases.

69 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:37 pm

Halos got the run back. I'm happy it was unearned - means the shit sox made an error! I hate the bottom of the 9th in beantown, but I'm liking the 19-run lead. NINETEEN!!! Let's hope the run diff stands as is. I'd like a quick 1-2-3 frame.

70 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:41 pm

505 stolen bases. Double digits every year but this. Only 7 so far

71 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:41 pm

505 SBs! He reached the mark this season. Awesome.

72 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:42 pm

Ha! Yeah, he'll definitely get to double digits this season. Very cool.

73 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:46 pm

Strike out Nova. Ok, that's just as good. I hate pitchers running the bases.

74 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:50 pm

Halos threatened in the 9th, but some unknown Boston outfielder was the only "pitcher" not to give up a run.

75 rbj   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:51 pm

I'm tapping out. Night, thelarmis.

76 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:55 pm

Cheers, rbj!

77 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 9:57 pm

Of course, the shit sox threatened in the 9th. They always do. I hate that. 3 singles , no runs.

21-2 final !!!

78 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:07 pm

lotsa batters fouling balls off themselves tonight.

i missed the part when they compared solarte to headley, since the trade. pretty similar at the plate.

i've got this game on mute and am listening to metal \m/ once the phone is charged, prolly gonna talk to my old college roommate. we tend to catch up around July 4th for whatever reason...

79 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:14 pm

damn. nice catch by kemp.

80 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:17 pm

nice play by solarte, but he's definitely safe. that review HAS to be overturned.

81 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:20 pm

shouldn't take this long. the ball wasn't firmly in the glove. on top of that, the tie goes to the runner. he was clearly safe. it was a bad call to begin with and an easy one to overrule via replay. this is a farce.

call it correctly and quickly. let's fucking go already. jeesh!

82 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:22 pm

finally. what the FUCK took that goddamn long? oh great. all that and nova's at the plate. fuck the national league. this is bollocks.

83 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:36 pm

rbj with the leadoff double. that's better than schimp's 2-out double.

i'd like a steal of 3rd and a fucking RUN!

84 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:39 pm

gritner bunts him over. i hate that. but, wait...solarte can't handle it and it's a hit! brett should jet over to second to take away the double play. i hate that castro's batting third tonight...

85 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:40 pm

rbi groundout. gritner on second. i really want him to steal 3rd.

86 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:40 pm

The Tolo beat Arrieta tonight. 43 years old!

87 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:43 pm

halos:

cron 6-6, 5 rbi

perez (who?) 5-5, 6 rbi

first time since 1936 that two teammates had (at least) 5 hits and 5 rbi.

pujols - 5 rbi

trout 'only' had 2 hits and scored 3 runs. bum. trade him!

88 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:43 pm

hey, headley - remember those 115 rbi in san diego? how bout revisiting that now?

89 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:44 pm

didi's batting like .380 vs. lefties this season. how bout that?!

90 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:45 pm

shit sox committed FOUR errors tonight. i love it!

91 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:48 pm

what?! how'd he miss that tag?! fuck.

janokowski this time. i think he's out. let's see another angle. ok, a better angle. fuck. i think he missed the tag. fuck you, castro!

they're reviewing it anyway. i wonder how long this will take. this'll. thistle.

92 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:50 pm

btw, castro was on his familiar side of the bag, so this isn't a "he's a new second baseman learning the angles" kind of thing.

93 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:51 pm

holy crap. they called him OUT! no way. wow.

we MUST win this game.

94 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:53 pm

of course, nova walks the next batter after the gift out.

95 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:54 pm

huh. GI Joe bringing Dellin in with 1 out in the 6th. nova only threw 77 pitches. 4 outs for betances, 4 for miller, 3 for the chapped man?

96 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 10:57 pm

myers steals a base. kemp drives him in with an "excuse me" check swing double. FUCK!

97 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:02 pm

WAHOO!!! nice fucking play at the plate. go Ref!!! way to tag and hold on, Romine. i love it! no need for replay on that. still a tie game. whew!!!

98 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:03 pm

what?! they're reviewing it. bollocks. he was OUT!!!! out Out OUT. a million times out. there's no doubt.

[bj had a nice hit to cause all this ruckus...]

99 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:07 pm

yup, he was out dammit!

100 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:16 pm

leadoff walk. ARGH!!!

Hey Thelarmis, ever feel like you're talking to yourself. ;>)

Sorry, I've been avoiding the dreaded PC. I spend all week staring at it, frying my eyes, so I just watch the games on the iPhone on the weekend.

I forgot some shit at the orafice so I have to go into Ginza now [groan]...but this game has shit sandwich written all over it.

Nova looking fantastic, but gets G.I.Joe'd out of the game.
Betances is human.
The Yankees line-up not worth the price of admission.
Ref has the play of the game IMHO.

102 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:18 pm

Catcher stealing. Fuck me and the horse I road in on.

103 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:21 pm

I hate these announcers. Too smug. I think I got the San Diego feed, but it's a good picture so I'm afraid to change it.

104 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:24 pm

Boat!!! yup : )

my fam calls it the "orafice" too!

yeah, why is Nova out of the game???

nice hook, dellin!!!

i have the game on mute and am listening to metal. (shhh, don't tell Jazz!)

105 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:24 pm

Boom.
That's the Dellin we know and love.

106 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:27 pm

[104] No worries. My lips are sealed. Anyway, he makes fun of the Rolling Stones, which to me is sacrilegious.

107 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:28 pm

Nice walk. ;>)

108 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:30 pm

damn, that was a nice DP by Wil(l)

109 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:31 pm

[106] well, i'll be joining jazz in making fun of the stones!!! i have to play two of their tunes on a gig later this month. ugh : (

110 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:31 pm

Fuckin' Hellsbury.

111 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:33 pm

Blowin' bubbles at bat is ice cold.

112 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:34 pm

crap. that woulda scored a run.

identical 1-6-0 lines. both teams have even left 5 men on base apiece.

113 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:36 pm

[110] i like it. don't tell rbj! ; )

[111] castro, man. he got lucky on that lazy tag before. i hate that he's batting 3rd tonight. i get that there's no beli or a-rod and that didi is a lefty, but the latter is batting like .380 vs. portsiders this season!

114 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:36 pm

That was not the outcome we were expecting Mr. Castro.

Dude, it's been real, but I gotta roll.

It's a bout 9000 degrees out, but at least I can wear shorts and flip-flops today.

Get some runs for us.

115 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:39 pm

rock on. it's about 10,000 degrees here in hotlanta!

i'll do my best. love andrew on the mound. don't love the leadoff man on...

116 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:42 pm

nice play by torre/reyes to get the lead runner.

117 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:43 pm

wait. why is headley out? i missed that...

118 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:44 pm

gotta get solarte. for some reason, bj owns andrew...

119 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:45 pm

wahoo! nice work, andrew.

now...RUNS!!!

120 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:52 pm

headed to the bottom of the 9th, knotted at uno.

121 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:53 pm

i fucking HATE the national league. too many double switches...

122 thelarmis   ~  Jul 2, 2016 11:55 pm

oh, fuck. and there it is. GI Joe and his fucking binder. how can he NOT know the upton *owns* miller. first pitch of the bottom of the 9th - walk off homer. we're gonna get swept by the lowly padres. total fucking bollocks.

123 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:40 pm

Looks to be a well used game thread.

124 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:45 pm

Promising start, how will the Yankees blow it this time?

125 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:47 pm

i was just about to post a note to all my faithful readers that even though i *could* watch and report the game, i don't think i will.

of course, we're threatening early. i'll stick around for this offensive frame, but will only check in occasionally throughout the game.

126 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:47 pm

[124] easily. tex double play, then a strikeout.

well, there's the tex strikeout. now, the dp...

127 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:49 pm

K. non deep fly ball.

I predict a ground ball out

128 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:49 pm

this team is quite boring. wish there was a double steal...

129 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:51 pm

he'll swing and miss at a ball...

130 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:52 pm

And a K.

Amazing that we have no faith in the offense. And get rewarded for it.

131 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:52 pm

k'd looking.

here comes chad green. there i go...

132 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 3:53 pm

of course the shit sox are about to score in the double digits today...

133 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:08 pm

At this point I'll take a run producing DP

134 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:11 pm

chad green pitched great in the 1st.

i missed our unearned run, which scored on a double play ball.

of course, green struck out to end the inning and now has to pitch...

135 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:13 pm

of course. it was only a matter of time.

solarte goes oppo and it's a tie game.

goodbye again!

136 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:15 pm

Promptly given back

137 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:20 pm

4 out of 6 outs via the k for green.

138 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:37 pm

That's weird. He was in the box, foul, dead ball.

139 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:42 pm

Didi did did!

140 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:53 pm

Good start for Green today.

141 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:57 pm

And as soon as I say that . . .

142 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 4:58 pm

Double play! 1-6

143 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:13 pm

Did with the leather too. Though that makes my back hurt

144 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:34 pm

so...

chad green kicked some serious ass. rbj has 2 hits; gritner a walk and stolen base; hicks with 3 hits (!), and tex with 3 strikeouts...

the big 3 for the 7th, 8th, 9th. hoping for the best...

145 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:34 pm

oh yeah, and of course, didi with the big homer!

146 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:38 pm

Nova who?

147 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:39 pm

leadoff hit against dellin. frick.

148 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:42 pm

double frick. two singles. of course, this one was solarte.

we're going to lose.

149 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:43 pm

DP still in order

150 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:47 pm

and, of course, the dp possibility is now gone...

151 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:48 pm

no andrew. it's swarzak as the 8th inning guy today.

awesome.

152 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:49 pm

Chad was going so well, why is Joe such a slave to the binder?

153 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:49 pm

a strike 'em out!

3-2 breaking ball and it was a beauty.

154 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:50 pm

Phew

155 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:52 pm

158 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:55 pm

that had to feel good.

159 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:57 pm

i keep a list of switch-hitter homeruns and records. he's in impressive company.

oh good, he got the ball! he was psyched as he rounded first.

brian shows bunt, gets plunked. it was reviewed and everything.

speed on the basepaths!

160 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 5:59 pm

oh good, andrew's up!

161 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:01 pm

hicks works the count 3-0 and they intentionally walk him. his 4th time on base today.

torre/reyes and his "mustache" up.

162 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:02 pm

alex with a helmet on!

won't get the chance to bat. tease...

163 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:06 pm

alex could've hit for t'reyes with headley taking over at 3rd.

164 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:08 pm

uh-oh. man on first. don't pitch to BJ!!!

165 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:10 pm

Whew!!! struck out upton. exhale.

he's really tall and super skinny. upton, i mean. i guess andrew is too.

166 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:13 pm

wil with no batting gloves. full count...

walked him. andrew is pissed at himself.

go ahead run at the dish.

167 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:13 pm

You aren't helping your trade value, Andrew

168 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:14 pm

andrew keeps falling behind...

169 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:15 pm

he's not sharp. they're all overused.

of course, solarte is on deck...

170 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:16 pm

Pheeeew!

171 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:16 pm

3-1 headed to the 9th

172 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:19 pm

alex at the plate!

173 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:21 pm

How about an A bomb?

174 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:23 pm

9 pitch a-b, but a groundout...

175 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:29 pm

rbj with a stolen bag

176 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:29 pm

nice! a gritty base hit.

4-1

177 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:31 pm

TEX!!!

a no doubter. 6-1 yanks : )

lotsa love for the pinstripes there in SD.

sit chapman down!

178 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:32 pm

quackenbush grew up a yankee fan : )

i think that's tex's 42nd multi-homer game. i believe mantle is the only switch-hitter with more (46)

179 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:33 pm

I'll take that

180 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:45 pm

Come on, Zak

181 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:45 pm

Modammit!

182 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:48 pm

of course, swarzak gives up a 2-run job and now chapman has to pitch for the save. nobody out...

183 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:53 pm

Ok, two down

184 rbj   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:54 pm

There ya go!

185 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:54 pm

game over.

yanks win!

186 RIYank   ~  Jul 3, 2016 6:56 pm

Thelarmis, was that really Teixeira's 400th homer of the season?? That has to be a record.

187 thelarmis   ~  Jul 3, 2016 7:29 pm

It was indeed, RI! And, it was his 42nd multi-homer game of the season, giving him (at least) 84 homers at the halfway mark. I'm pretty sure that's a record, but I'll have to look it up and get back to you.

188 thelarmis   ~  Jul 4, 2016 1:16 pm

11-pitch 1-2-3 1st for Lame Game James
