Brick by Brick

blue window bags

See because when C.C. pitches as well as he did on Monday night, you gotta figure the Yanks are going to score enough runs to get him the win. Which is just what they did, thanks in part to a tasty to 3-run homer off the bat of Gary Sanchez.

7-1 was the final and everybody digested just fine.

Tonight gives Big Mike against Jason Vargas, who—and this is random as hell—has been pitching great so far this year.

Never mind the burn:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Oh great, it's Cy Vargas and his 1.01 era

2 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 17, 2017 7:17 pm

Vargas! Wasn't he a drug kingpin killed by McBain in the 2nd McBain movie??

3 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 7:23 pm

Starlin getting us our run for the night

4 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 7:35 pm

It's been awhile since I've loged on so it's great to be chatting with my friends on the banter. Let's go Yankees!

5 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 7:39 pm

[2] Dunno, haven't seen those movies

6 51cq24   ~  May 17, 2017 7:40 pm

that isn't even close to a strike. and why call it so emphatically?

7 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 17, 2017 7:46 pm

[2] Simpsons reference :)
[4] Hi Gary!

8 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 7:58 pm

Blech, wasting pitches

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 8:00 pm

Fucking bollocks. Walking that dude. Ken Singleton always sounds much happier when Kay isn't around. Or maybe it just improves my mood.

10 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 17, 2017 8:01 pm

[9] I like Singleton as a play-by-play guy, he and Cone are the best YES team.

11 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 8:01 pm

Nice dp.

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 8:02 pm

[10] Absolutely.

13 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 8:12 pm

Watching the KC feed. serious effort to sell charity opportunities. bah.

14 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 8:14 pm

Didi does in. judge goes to 3rd!

15 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 8:14 pm

A second run! We are over our limit from Cy Vargas

16 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 8:16 pm

Hot damn!

17 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 8:17 pm

Hicks!

18 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 17, 2017 8:17 pm

Ka-Boom! Somewhere thelarmis is loving the run differential.

19 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 8:18 pm

Hell yeah.

20 Mattpat11   ~  May 17, 2017 8:19 pm

One of the things about facing a guy like Vargas is that even if you believe he might actually be good now, with a 1.01 ERA he's more than due to give up 17 runs in 12 innings at some point.

And there was no better time to start than tonight

21 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 8:21 pm

Six!

22 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 8:21 pm

love those crooked numbers

23 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 8:21 pm

Rumbling!

24 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 8:22 pm

And all with two outs.

25 Mattpat11   ~  May 17, 2017 8:23 pm

[24] The reverse Pineda

26 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 17, 2017 8:31 pm

Royales radio guy is gushing about how complete a team the Yanks are...could it be..??

27 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 8:31 pm

Unimpressed by this Vargas guy.

28 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 8:34 pm

oops. still only the 4th.

29 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 8:37 pm

Love Coney. He finds a way to seamlessly weave in "No Sleep "Til Brooklyn."

30 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 8:43 pm

Got my new Verve coffee beans on today and I was shocked to find, along with "Allspice" and "Candied" one of the flavor notes in "The 1950" blend is "Earl Grey". How can you describe coffee flavor by referring to tea? Sacrilege!

31 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 8:44 pm

Good evening. And I agree, Cone and Singleton is a fine team, and more relaxed. Silence is ok, and this is probably the highest IQ tandem on the Yes roster.

How about those Judge ABs, taking walks?

32 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 8:44 pm

This is going well.

33 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 8:45 pm

I'm starting to smell double digits

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 8:45 pm

Roll Yankees!

35 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 8:45 pm

Yeah, I'll be a little disappointed if we get stuck on single digits tonight.

36 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 8:46 pm

With those 2 runs, the Ship has been righted again. Big Pine ready to man the tiller. Steady as she goes.

37 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 8:48 pm

[31] Yes. IQ in the booth is underrated.

38 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 17, 2017 8:48 pm

LeBron just went for 23-5-4 in the first half..wow. (Hoops interlude)

39 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 8:49 pm

Carter had wheels?

40 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 8:50 pm

Double digits!

41 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 8:50 pm

Double digits!

42 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 8:51 pm

DiDi scores Double Digits!

43 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 8:52 pm

Hey!
Damn. These guys can just hit.

44 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 8:53 pm

Hm. I can't tell. Kenny says he looks out, but I dunno.

45 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 8:54 pm

well, another crooked number.

46 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 8:54 pm

Huh. Okay.

47 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 8:54 pm

That was super close. Nice inning anyway.

48 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 8:55 pm

I know we're supposed to respect our elders, and Joe West is a baseball lifer, why is he such a dick?

49 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  May 17, 2017 8:55 pm

rbj: kc announcers impressed with Carter speed.

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 8:58 pm

Pineada losing concentration with the big lead.

51 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 9:01 pm

[48] Cunty Joe West.

He's a good ump, though.

52 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 9:07 pm

And the hits just keep on coming at WBMR!

53 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 9:08 pm

Everyone gets a hit night

54 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 9:08 pm

Hot damn hits!

55 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 9:10 pm

It's obvious that KC (Slayor backwards) are mediocre at best, but the last two nights kinda demonstrates how good the Astros are,

56 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 9:16 pm

Come one blue

57 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 9:17 pm

Fuck you, Blue

58 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 9:20 pm

Pineda must keep his concentration.

59 Boatzilla   ~  May 17, 2017 9:25 pm

The inning's stil going. JAY-sas, Mike. Get some pine tar.

60 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 9:26 pm

Phew

61 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 9:26 pm

Pineda done for the evening?

62 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 9:29 pm

Off topic, but I have to state that this Yankees team is exciting and interesting to watch. Their unfolding story helps counteract the daily shit-show we have to stomach on the news and our phones. Thank god.

63 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 9:31 pm

[62] That's never off topic.

64 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 9:40 pm

[62] avoiding poly ticks, yeah, this is a fun young team. A daily distraction from the nonsense eminating from D.C. Get far too much politics on tv, currently being unemployed

Jeez, Chase

65 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 17, 2017 9:40 pm

That's Headley.

66 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 17, 2017 9:40 pm

[62] Yep, my first stop each morning over coffee is my baseball Twitter list. Save the 'other' news for later.

67 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 9:40 pm

Big Pine ready to ride the pine.

68 51cq24   ~  May 17, 2017 9:42 pm

this umpire really is terrible.

[10] definitely.

69 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 9:43 pm

Balto lose on a Machado check swing...love that!

70 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 9:51 pm

Acceptable.

71 rbj   ~  May 17, 2017 9:52 pm

Ah, a Balboni reference. Gotta get my cover letters and resumes in tomorrow, night all

72 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 9:54 pm

Good luck, rbj!

73 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 9:58 pm

The Yankees are hitting .470 tonight.

74 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 9:59 pm

Okay, time for a verdict, please!

75 RIYank   ~  May 17, 2017 10:02 pm

Wrong verdict.

76 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 17, 2017 10:04 pm

That's a Yankees strike and a Royals ball ( Judge's strike three).

77 thelarmis   ~  May 17, 2017 10:36 pm

Jesus Christ, end the fucking game. Stop giving up runs already. Think about the run diff!!

78 thelarmis   ~  May 17, 2017 10:38 pm

Bad Gio. Dellin should *not* have had to pitch in this game.

79 thelarmis   ~  May 17, 2017 10:40 pm

That's how ya do it!

80 thelarmis   ~  May 17, 2017 10:48 pm

Ha! I just read the game thread and saw Jazz mentioned me and the run diff :)

81 thelarmis   ~  May 17, 2017 10:50 pm

Dellon got the 4-pitch 1-out cheapie save. Take THAT, Randy Levine!

82 seamus   ~  May 18, 2017 5:36 am

haha. Good game last night save that 9th inning. Still, double digits and we lead the majors in run differential. Astros catching up fast thought...
