"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Is it Safe to Look, Yet?

interior cab bags

Yanks came home and got pounded by the Angels as their slump continues.

Big Mike was deliberate to the point of being insufferable and also not that good. But it was the bullpen again that shit the bed.

Final Score: Angels 8, Yanks 3.

More tonight. After an afternoon shower it is hot and humid.

Something’s gotta give.

Never mind the bitchin’ and moaning’:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Oh, [3] thanks for taking over the important role of accepting things in my absence.

8 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 6:46 pm

I'm going to have to go to the kitchen for drinks more often

12 RIYank   ~  Jun 21, 2017 6:54 pm

Um.
Scioscia is a genius.
Sacrificing down two runs in the third. Who else would think of that?

13 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 6:56 pm

[11] Vodka tonic

14 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:02 pm

15 RIYank   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:02 pm

First-pitch swinging is paying off tonight.

16 RIYank   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:03 pm

Second-pitch, not so much.

17 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:15 pm

That was weird

18 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:15 pm

22 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:34 pm

I am still steaming over JoeyJoeJoe's BP shenanigans yesterday..

23 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:51 pm

Ugh

24 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 7:54 pm

Yay Matt!

25 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:01 pm

What the hell is Clippard doing up?

26 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:11 pm

Phew

27 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:14 pm

I'm extremely riled up an it's only 1015 here...and now the radio playing that awful new Oasis song..I may need a coffee break

28 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:22 pm

Lettuce be thankful for Austin

29 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:28 pm

Line drive in the box score

30 thelarmis   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:29 pm

[25] Leaving the building and team?!

31 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:32 pm

[30] don't get my hopes up

32 thelarmis   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:34 pm

[34] I'm going on a beer run in a few minutes. Would you like me to pick you up some more vodka?

33 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:37 pm

[32] Nostralarmis now predicting future Banter comments?

34 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:37 pm

[32] 34? Hmm,some sort of weird space time continuum warp? With The Binder dictating bullpen usage I may need some Everclear. 191 proof

35 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:38 pm

Green for the 8th, then Dellin

36 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:42 pm

[34] Those were the days. Back in college. Garbage container filled with Everclear and Kool-Aid. Make sure the girls drink it. Shennigans to follow. Weird high, as far as al-kee-haul goes.

37 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:44 pm

[36] we called it Purple Jesus. Various other substances may have also been consumed. 1980s were . . . a different decade.

38 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:44 pm

I'm gonna make a bold prediction. This is the game that gets the Bombers back on track. Very bold. ;>)

39 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:46 pm

[37] I hear that. As I remember, with Everclear you felt totally sober until you were totally shite-faced.

40 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:47 pm

[37] I remember my first exposure to Mary Jane was the upper deck in YS-2 back in 1983.

41 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:51 pm

Moar runz!

42 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:52 pm

[40] Me, too. But it was in box teams and my dad complained to the ushers.

43 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:52 pm

[42] uh, make that "box seats"

44 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:55 pm

[42] As far as I know, many ushers at YS-2 were supplying green accompaniment to the pretzels..

45 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 8:58 pm

Chris Carter in for defense? I guess "that's what we have."

46 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:00 pm

[40] lower level RF seats, 1988-89. It was Wild West territory in the day. Have since become responsible. Darn you "growing up" thing.

47 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:00 pm

Wow, Pujols has aged

48 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:01 pm

[45] Hah!!

[46] I know it was filthy and rowdy but I miss the old stadium.

49 thelarmis   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:02 pm

Chase on base 3 times.

Alright, headed out on the beer run!

50 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:05 pm

[49] I'll take an Imperial Stout, then a light wheat beer for the night cap please.

51 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:07 pm

[48] Yes nostalgia. But at least you can confidently take your young daughter or aged old folks to the new stadium. The last time I went to YS2 with my old man, in his early 80s, it was a terror dome, even at field level.

52 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:10 pm

Wait, we're being threatened with Clippard? I'd ease Chapman in.

53 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:11 pm

[52] Trying to make it interesting.

54 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:15 pm

[53] It is not interesting.

55 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:15 pm

It was a strike, chipmunk

56 thelarmis   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:16 pm

Why the FUCK is Clippard pitching in this game??? You can't keep running him out there every fucking night. Give him a breather and pay some other team to take him. Christ almighty!

57 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:16 pm

Feel bad for the guy but he's cooked. Not his fault.

58 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:17 pm

Bus ticket to Piscataway. Where there isn't a team

59 thelarmis   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:17 pm

Wow. Just fucking wow. We really need Cashman to rod GI Joe of this fucking guy.

60 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:19 pm

Carter & Clippard: Two Ex-Ball-Players who open a detective agency in NYC. Possibly tv pitch?

61 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:21 pm

That was tough to watch. Let's admit, very few us have to face angry fans during and after a bad day at the office.

62 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:22 pm

One down.[60] Hmm, they constantly screw up but somehow they get the job done.

Two down

[60] CSI NY: Special Victims Unit

64 rbj   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:23 pm

Three down! Night all

65 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:23 pm

[62] Carter the gentle, contemplative giant, Clippard the wiry, bespectacled hot-head. The original odd-couple!

66 thelarmis   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:24 pm

First place!

67 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:26 pm

[65] Crocket & Tubbs?

68 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 21, 2017 9:27 pm

As we say in Japan, "Game, set-toh"

69 seamus   ~  Jun 21, 2017 10:27 pm

A win! I'm just happy to see that.

For what it's worth, Clippard needs at least a week of rest. He is, as someone else in here said, toast right now. But I think with that rest he can serve us fine for the stretch run. But as a 5th option, not one of the big three relievers.
