But it’s knocking at the door for the Dodgers today.

Hate to say it but I think the Cards will end their season while the Red Sox take a 3-1 lead against the Tigers.

I guess poor Donnie will be on the hot-seat yet again.

I'd just like to point out that the suckingest sucks whoever sucked (the 2012 ALCS yankees) had a batting line of:

.157 / .224 / .264

and got their asses swept.

and the valiant, clutch and probable world champion 2013 red sox have hit:

.133 / .228 / .222

and are rolling downhill towards the series.

C'mon Dodgers.

4 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 16, 2013 3:55 pm

Way to go Zach!

5 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 4:59 pm

Couple ex-Sox with solo homers.

6 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 5:32 pm

The Dodgers are 10 to 1 favorites right now. (Starting the bottom of the seventh.)

7 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 5:37 pm

The Dodgers are unleashing their pent up homerage.
Homerage to Chavez Ravine.

8 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 5:38 pm

Twenty to one favorites after the Elis homer.

9 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 5:49 pm

Fifty to one with two outs in the eighth!
Wow, comebacks are hard.

10 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 5:58 pm

Holy cow.
A(nother) Gon(e)!

11 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 6:12 pm

Tying run at the plate.

Not worried at all, though.

12 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 6:16 pm

Tying run on!
Still not worried.

Although, I will be worried if Carpenter comes to bat.

13 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 6:18 pm

There ya go. See?

14 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 6:28 pm

LET'S GO TI-GERS!! !!!

15 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:16 pm

wow, the shit sox got a hit in the 1st.

let it be there last.

16 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:43 pm

Okay, well, this looks like a good inning...

17 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:43 pm

[15] Let it be where last?

18 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:46 pm

Yes, exactly. V-Mart could have scored if he tagged up, but because the ball might have dropped, he had to go half-way because if he tagged up and it dropped, he couldn't have scored.

I'm sure that's exactly right.

19 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:47 pm

Yay!
Hooray for Jake Peavy! Shoulda hit 'im. A-Jax probably deserved it.

20 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:48 pm

Okay, I'll take that too!
My Little Juggly.

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:48 pm

Nice play, pony. heh-heh.

22 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:49 pm

[20] My Little Juggly. lol....

23 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:50 pm

Yes!

And Jose "Julio" Iglesias scores too!

24 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:50 pm

toriiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

25 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:50 pm

[23] actually, it was Enrique.

26 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:50 pm

please let this 4-run lead hold up!!!

27 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:51 pm

[22] They actually got no outs on that grounder, in fact. As even Tim McC noticed. A very "liberal' call for the force out at second. (That's because it's Fox. 'Liberal' means 'bad'.)

28 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:52 pm

Oh, this is highly enjoyable.
Nothing better, when the Yankees aren't playing.

29 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:53 pm

migs!

30 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:53 pm

[27] Yup. Ok, Detroit. Don't go fucking this lead up ffs!

31 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 7:59 pm

[27] Tee-hee...I have SUCH a good follow-up to that but it violates the Banter rules in every possible way so.. :)

I'm following on Gameday on my phone. Did Jake Peavy scream himself hoarse when coming off the mound?

32 rbj   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:02 pm

JV is thinking "if you guys had gotten two of those runs for me yesterday, we'd be looking pretty sweet."

33 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:04 pm

c'mon doug.

fist them!

34 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:04 pm

[31] He was kind of surrounded by coaches immediately, so hard to tell.

Okay, Doug, that's enough. No Papi heroics, please.

35 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:07 pm

Nice job, Fisty.

Do you think they call him 'Fisty'? I really hope they do.

36 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:23 pm

[35] Was Rusty Kuntz called 'Kuntzy'?

I'm feeling excessively immature this morning so please, keep them coming.

37 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:24 pm

Oh, god. I'm muting, that's it.
The worst thing about playoff baseball is Fox broadcasting.

38 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:29 pm

[37] Details? At least next year Timmah will be gone, I'm sure Cowboy Millar will be a fine replacement.

39 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:34 pm

[38] Oh, I don't know. I mean, they were talking about beards for a long time. Then Tim started spewing sentence fragments about Ortiz's grand slam. (I was going to say "Ortiz's salami", but I thought your 9 year old boy mood might explode.) It's the relentless stupidity and insipidity that gets to me.

40 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:35 pm

My Little Stonehands!

Oh, ruled a hit, okay. Yeah, if I'm going to be real about it, that wasn't an error.

41 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:39 pm

[39] 'relentless stupidity and insipidty'...hey, I thought we weren't allowed to talk about Congress here?

The beard thing..excruciating. I wonder what Uehara and Tazawa think about that whole phenomenon..

As to 9-year old humor, see the latest A-Rod gossip? Mamma Mia!

42 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:41 pm

damn you, torrrrrriiiiiiiii........

43 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:43 pm

lucky 7

44 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:46 pm

[43] Hey, I was thinking that!
[42] You got 42 again.
[41] No, I didn't see the A-Rod gossip. I guess I'll take a holiday from that stuff while the Yankees aren't playing...

45 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:48 pm

My Gameday MUST be faulty, said 'Miguel Cabrera steals (1) 2nd base'..

46 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 8:56 pm

[45] And easily. He jogged.

47 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:06 pm

Hm, I hear the Red Sox never give up. So this game is not over. Here in the sixth inning. Wow. They are an impressive bunch of gritsters. Beardy gritsters.

48 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:09 pm

don't let them back in, fisty.

49 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:10 pm

Hm.

GIDP time, please.

50 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:10 pm

51 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:14 pm

54 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:21 pm

56 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:26 pm

ajax 2 bx

57 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:28 pm

[54][56] I would not be against signing Ellsbury. But then would have to find somehow get Will Myers too so it's be 'Jacoby & Myers in the outfield'.

58 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:29 pm

[57] Excellent. And neither of them is Jewish!

59 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:29 pm

don't let the speedy guy on with no outs.

i want fisticuffs back!

60 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:30 pm

(Only Ellsbury is going to be badly overpaid, so not really, please.)

61 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:30 pm

I'm Jewish ; )

62 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:32 pm

[58] Paul Goldschmidt on that 'team' as well, isn't he? Sounds like an old Jackie Mason bit..or maybe that was Krusty the Klown..

63 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:33 pm

[61] You wish.

64 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:34 pm

dammit, new mexico.

65 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:35 pm

my little groundout.

66 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:35 pm

[64] I've been there. It reminded me of Intercourse, Pennsylvania.

67 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:36 pm

[61][63] My half-Jewish/half-Muslim cousin (I know you can't be half a religion but you know what I mean) tells an EXTREMELY offensive but hilarious joke about his 'mixture'...which I will have to send you guys offline.

68 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:36 pm

[65] Last two AB, he's been out by a combined 4 inches. (Of course, to him it seems like a lot.)

69 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:38 pm

[67] I'm just guessing it's not kosher or ḥalāl. Filthy, dirty gentiles. (I'm a halfy myself, actually.)

70 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:40 pm

smyle everyone! : )

71 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:41 pm

[69] which half?

72 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:42 pm

[63] i'm 100%. i'm also 100% non-practicing. drums/marimba = 100% practicing.

73 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:43 pm

[66] me too. way to hot for me. but i dug the Nimbus Red Ale.

i've had that in that state! ; )

what about Bird In Hand, PA?!

74 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:43 pm

[69] Hah! It's funny over here..the expression goes 'Japanese are born Shinto, marry Christian, and die Buddhist.' Or as one of my cynical J friends says "Our religion is just being 'Japanese'"

Let's hope that's the last Papi AB this game..

75 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:45 pm

[71] Left.
[73] Nope.
But I was in Madison last month! It was great. My annual pilgrimage. Georgetown next weekend. World Series weekend, I mean.

76 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:48 pm

So, Mr. Gloomypuss [0] is not looking too good with today's predictions.

77 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:49 pm

my religion is music.

and i subscribe to the church of baseball.

78 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:53 pm

[75] i'm lower.

madison is awesome.

georgetown was great, too.

i used to tour a lot. now i teach a ton...

79 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 9:58 pm

The Sox' chances have inched up just above 1%.

Nope. With that pop out they drop well below.

80 RIYank   ~  Oct 16, 2013 10:35 pm

Even Stephen.

Damn, Ortiz almost killed that pitch, he really did. Missed by maybe a millimeter underneath.

Fun game! Let's have another like that! Without any Benoit in it, how about!

81 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 16, 2013 10:36 pm

[80] Ain't no 'Mo' in Benoit, that's fo sho!

82 thelarmis   ~  Oct 16, 2013 10:37 pm

series tied.

GO LES TIGRES!

83 The Mick536   ~  Oct 17, 2013 6:49 am

Anyone watch Charlie Rose interview Mo. Some questions he didn't ask in an otherwise great q/A were about Mo's hitting and fielding.

84 The Mick536   ~  Oct 17, 2013 6:57 am

Mo had one RBI over his illustrious career. It came in 2009 against the Mets. Facing Francisco Rodriquez, he walked with the bases loaded. A trivia question for the ages: who scored?

Otherwise, he batted .000.
