That One Weintraub is Very Nice

Clown Town.

tobias

Whadda bunch of mooks. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the Yanks on Saturday night as they got torched 12-5 in Baltimore. Phil Hughes gave up eight runs and didn’t make it out of the second inning. Homers by Damon, Teixeira, and Swisher made it somewhat more respectable, but the Yanks were never in this one.

Frustrating…

Well, you might as well look at this for some comic relief.

Losing is one thing. Losing while watching Edwar Ramirez and Brett Tomko is another entirely.

Joba might not pitch tomorrow. That's why it was Edwar instead of Aceves. Aceves might be the starter.

Joba popped a blood vessel in his right thumb playing catch before the game.

They think he'll be able to go tomorrow, but they aren't sure. So Aceves was not available, even before this game started.

[2] I'm not sure why Edwar is here at all. There really probably is a reason he's washed out of baseball twice.

Watching Sox-Rays on tv here, McCarver just said " We had the pleasure of being exposed to the Rim-Dog (Jerry Remy) and wish him a speedy recovery"..that was funny.

For all the Yanks troubles, the Red Sox top two starters have been awful this year. Lester with ERA above 6 now! How do they keep winning...

From Pete Abe:

According to Joe Girardi, Chamberlain was flipping a ball underhanded during BP when a blood vessel burst in his right thumb. There is no pain, Girardi said. But it’s black and blue. Chamberlain had treatment during the game and trainer Gene Monahan said he should be able to pitch.

With the Yankees, “should be able to pitch” has a funny way of turing into “see you in two weeks.” We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

“I’m ready if they need me,” Aceves said.

The Yankees lead the league in ERA (5.88) and screwy injuries.

I dunno. Even if he can grip a baseball, you gotta wonder how well he'll pitch.

DiNiro is hilarious in that flick. Given all the brooding characters he'd go on to play, seeing him as the dopey kid brother is really fascinating, and he knocks it out of the park.

first off ... thank you alex, that picture made me laugh.

second ... that news about joba does relieve some of the intense irritation that i felt about the way Girardi handled tonite's game ... holding Aceves back is legit at this point, even if Joba can go ... still, seeing Edwar out there for multiple innings was sooooo draining, since it was crystal clear he was gonna give up runs ...

does this team need to hire a voodoo priestess and cut out the heart of a still living clay bellinger or something?!?!?!?

wtf is up with these injuries???

[15] hey cult, i know we were hangin' out together the first time Joba pitched. it was the Blow Jays game. wasn't it Edwar's first game, too?! maybe, i'm just remembering talking about it here at the Banter or text messaging, but it may have been both of them pitching in that one game...

i've been picking up some of the later Phish cd's for pretty cheap lately. i still need a coupla more, methinks...

[0] The last thing this team needs is another analrapist.

Let's see - multiple home runs in a blowout loss? This is definitely A Rod's team now!
