Oh, man, rain. Damn.

See what happens after the Yankees wear red caps?

Clearly the Baseball Gods are not pleased...

Time for Joba to call on his Winnebago Tribal Ancestors to intercede (easy on that knee)!

I would suggest a burnt offering in the form of one of those damned red caps!

: )

Looks like serious weather in Texas. Severe conditions... expecting LARGE hail! Don't know how long it's supposed to last, but this one doesn't look good.

7 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 8:58 pm

Toronto is taking another huge step towards irrelevancy.

8 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 9:00 pm

When A-Rod starts getting boils, and the skies fill with locusts, I'll be very concerned...

Isn't The Captain "the first born male child?"

Maybe they should burn two red caps!

: O

9 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 9:05 pm

[7] I thought we all agreed after the Yankees' series there, that Toronto = Halladay + Meh!

I'm waiting for Mauer and Morneau to start treating John Lester the way they treated Phil Coke!

: )

10 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 26, 2009 9:10 pm

[9] That Joe Mauer..what a shot off of Papelbon the other night!

11 Just Fair   ~  May 26, 2009 9:17 pm

I got a sweet, red Ranger hat when I saw the Rangers in Arlington last month. Interesting trades considered. : )

12 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 9:35 pm

[11] The only things I know of that are both sweet and red are a roasted bell pepper, a roasted tomato, or a roasted onion... and that's only after their skins have been burned to a black char and are peeled away and discarded!

Even roses have thorns for Christ's sakes, man!

In keeping with today's Monty Python and the Holy Grail theme...

Burn it, burn it! Burn it up!

After all, clearly it floats in water, just like a duck!

: )

Pete Abe says they're getting ready to lift the tarp

14 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 26, 2009 9:39 pm

damn Dusty Ze Pequeno just doubled in Ellsbury for the BoSox..glad our game is starting soon!

15 RIYank   ~  May 26, 2009 9:41 pm

[12] PJ, meet strawberry. Strawberry, this is PJ.

16 RIYank   ~  May 26, 2009 9:45 pm

Wow, Lester's game fell apart fast. Imagine having a man on first, one out, and Matt Tolbert and Nick Punto coming to bat next... and suddenly, there's a run in, men on second and third, and still just one out, and now you're going to face Span and Mauer. And then maybe Morneau and Cuddyer.

17 Just Fair   ~  May 26, 2009 9:46 pm

Too bad for Toronto the season isn't 40 games. Ha.

18 RIYank   ~  May 26, 2009 9:49 pm

Whoa. Morneau just ruined Lester's evening with a 3-run dinger.

19 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 9:49 pm

Pavano goes 7 IP, 1 run. Indians about to beat TB. Toronto continue to plummet.

20 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 9:53 pm

I love serious weather! 10 minutes in the life of PeteAbe:
UPDATE, 8:58 p.m.: They’re asking fans to clear the upper deck as the storm approaches. The skies are getting crazy dark. But not a drop yet.

UPDATE, 9:01 p.m.: The rain is here. People be scattering.

UPDATE, 9:08 p.m.: Now it’s hailing and raining like somebody turned on a fire hose.

21 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 9:55 pm

I love a good thunderstorm ...

hail? not so much ....

22 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 26, 2009 9:57 pm

[18] Punto the grinder got it started! But nice to see the "M&M" boys beating up on Boston.

23 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 9:57 pm

first pitch scheduled for 10:30pm.

i cut my practice session short to follow the game, thinking i might go back to the studio late nite. looks like i'll be following the game late night. oh well, at least i got a coupla hours in before...

24 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 9:59 pm

boston's #6 hitter in the lineup just made another out (OR-teez).

[23] Slow day at ACME Reserach, Inc. here so I'm in for the whole game.

[25] Ba-dum-dum-tsch!

27 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 10:06 pm

As long as the Sox doesn't start claiming Papi has some anxiety disorder and DL him.

28 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:11 pm

[25] you're on a roll, Ms. 6/9 !!!

btw, not sure if you saw it, but i had to use the MARGINAL REWARD anagram for Warner Madrigal when he pitched last night. don't worry, i sent a tip of the (ugly red) hat your way!

also, i picked up the 3dvd Snakes & Arrows set. i haven't watched it yet, but i hear it's amazing! i'm sure it is...

29 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 10:29 pm

[28]

all good alarmis!

I used to do stand-up once upon a time .... (pre-9/11, when the world was a funnier place)

30 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:29 pm

Kevin Millwood is on 34 years old?

31 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:30 pm

[30]* only

32 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 10:31 pm

[31]

but pitching one year in Texas ages you 5 ....

33 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:34 pm

Twinkies make a horrid throwing error and Sox score 1. Could have been worse, as JD is thrown out on the bases. 5-2 Twins after 7.

34 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 10:35 pm

[29] "I used to do stand-up once upon a time."

You still do, and to an arguably larger audience!

Even red brick walls suck!

: )

35 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:36 pm

[32] He looked 50 years old when he was in Atlanta.

36 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:36 pm

[30] i keep thinking you're older than 21, since you make so many old school references. iirc, you even pulled out a Press Your Luck "double whammy" the other day. do they show re-runs of "Card Sharks"?!

millwood's having a pretty good year. grienke is on fire. he's throwing another gem tonight!

[29] it's thelarmis, one word/one name, like "thelonious". : )

stand-up is really HARD to do. i know someone who did it back in the day. i'd rather be sitting down, back of the stage, behind a wall of tubs and plates, making a ruckus! : )

37 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:36 pm

MAN!!!! I love these Hooters Swinsuit Pagent commercials! Is there a game today?

38 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 10:37 pm

Is it me, or are the boos for Tex and A-Rod stronger tonight, despite the massive delay? I guess it was too hot to boo yesterday, in the day game.

39 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 10:38 pm

[36]

My apologies on the name malaprop....

40 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:38 pm

So.... BJs lose. TB loses. Sox in a hole. Could be a good day.

41 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:38 pm

[36] Well, I am older than 21.

I'm 22.

:)

42 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:39 pm

[33] mauer had a runner on 3rd w/ one out and couldn't bring him home. they walked morneau...

[35] i remember when millwood first started here, but i don't remember how old he looked...

43 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:40 pm

Well that's not good.

44 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:40 pm

Melky injured? Shoulder?

45 Emma Span   ~  May 26, 2009 10:41 pm

Sweet, nite owl baseball!

Although as soon as I typed that, it got a lot less sweet... hope it's not serious for Melky.

46 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:41 pm

Dislocated? I saw some ugly movement when he hit the wall.

47 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 10:41 pm

see ya in a month Melky

48 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:41 pm

[39] no worries.

[40] or not.

[41] happy birthday.

49 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:41 pm

Its a good thing that he's touching his shoulder with the bad arm, right? It means he can?

50 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 10:42 pm

That's a devestating injury...not only do you lose Melky's hot bat, but now you add an out to the lineup in Gardner. If Melky has to miss anytime, they have to promote Jackson. Gardner can not be used as an everyday player.

51 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:42 pm

WHOO!

52 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:42 pm

shit, is Melky hurt? oh no. hell, i'm even wearing my "got melky?" t-shirt. fuck! dislocated shoulders are horrible. i had a chronic one for 7 years and then major shoulder surgery. feh!

i really don't wanna see a whole lot of brett gardner. at least Jorgie will be back soon...

53 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:42 pm

HEADS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA_ROD!

54 Emma Span   ~  May 26, 2009 10:42 pm

[46] If it was dislocated, Melky's tough as nails... he looked like he was really hurting, but not in that kind of excruciating pain.

55 tommyl   ~  May 26, 2009 10:43 pm

Austin Jackson, come on down. Orrrr...maybe Shelley Duncan?

56 Raf   ~  May 26, 2009 10:43 pm

that's a good way to test the hip

57 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 10:43 pm

At least Melky wasn't doubled over in pain ... I dont think it will be a month.

58 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 26, 2009 10:43 pm

oh no, Melky crashed the fences??

59 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:43 pm

A-Rod is moving a lot better

60 randym77   ~  May 26, 2009 10:43 pm

What happened to Melky? I just tuned in.

61 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:43 pm

[60] Lost a fight with the wall.

62 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 10:44 pm

Damn Melky! Next time go into the wall feet first, like Bo!

I hope that shoulder is not jammed or dislocated!

Call up Jackson if the shoulder is DL bad?

Terrible injury... just terrible...

: (

63 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 10:44 pm

Losing Melky would be a lot bigger blow than most people would probably think. I really hope his exit was precautionary.

64 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:45 pm

Gotta admit, ARod's a gamer. Ballsy play for an injured guy, Shit. But the run doesn't score. Good luck.

65 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:45 pm

[54] yay, it's emma! how's the book coming along? yes, shoulder dislocation is indeed freaking excruciating. unfortunately, i know firsthand...

66 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:46 pm

[63] Monahan certainly seemed to be popping something into place. Can you come back quickly from that?

67 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 10:46 pm

So, after John Flaherty announces that righties are hitting .200 against Joba over the last X games, Kinsler and Cruz crush a couple....

68 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:47 pm

[65] Sorry... he's hurt. You could see his face as soon as he bounced off the wall.

69 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:47 pm

pete abe is using the word "jammed", for melky's shoulder. i hope that's all it is!

70 randym77   ~  May 26, 2009 10:47 pm

The YES talking heads seemed to think it was dislocated. Yeesh.

And good thing for us Kinsler was a bonehead on the basepaths.

71 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:49 pm

A's are impossibly bad. had the bases loaded in the 1st w/ NO outs and couldn't score...off of jarrod washburn.

let's hope the rangers can't score w/ the bases loaded and TWO outs...

72 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 10:49 pm

[66] If the shoulder was really dislocated, it would very likely be at least a stint on the 15-day DL.

Meanwhile, more early struggles from Joba. This is quickly becoming a game I wish was never started.

73 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:49 pm

dislocation = fuck.

2 xbh + walk = fuck

74 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:51 pm

I miss Mike Mussina.

75 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:51 pm

[66] depends. if it goes in/out and pops back by itself, it's not nearly as bad. if it has to be popped back in by someone, you're looking at 3 weeks, minimum. depends how much damage there was putting it back. doesn't sound good...

76 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:52 pm

[74] me too.

did Joba do that same bullpen warmup ritual he did for his last start? i'm guessing: NO.

77 Raf   ~  May 26, 2009 10:52 pm

That's why you don't throw 5 sliders in a row...

78 Emma Span   ~  May 26, 2009 10:52 pm

Didn't Jeter dislocate his shoulder on opening day a while back? Like 2001 or 2002? Or was it seperated? I remember him being out for a while... I also remember it looking a lot worse than Melky's injury, though, Jeter stayed down for a few minutes.

[65] Hey! It's going good, thanks! Writing the conclusion and waiting for my editor's, uh, edits... almost done, barring some kind of unforseen disaster.

79 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:53 pm

christ. stop the bleeding here and get your shit together from the 2nd on...

80 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 10:53 pm

Joba's early inning struggles are really becoming tiring. What is it going to take for him to realize that he can't come out of the gate nibbling. Could it be that for all his talent, Joba doesn't really know how to pitch?

81 Emma Span   ~  May 26, 2009 10:54 pm

[78] SepArated... I always get that one wrong.

82 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 10:54 pm

[78] I believe he separated his shoulder...this injury didn't look close to as bad as Melky's.

83 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 10:55 pm

if we can make Kevin Millwood look like Kevin Millwood then tonight won't be a complete wash

84 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:55 pm

[78] yeah, ken huckabay. asshole catcher for the blow jays, at the 3rd base. I was in pain when that injury happened. hopefully Melky's won't be as bad...

85 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 10:55 pm

[73] Young man... is that any kind of language for a musician?

86 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:56 pm

finally, he put someone away...

[81] leave it, that's what editors are for! ; )

87 Raf   ~  May 26, 2009 10:56 pm

[80] You think he's calling his games, or is the game being called from the bench?

88 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 10:57 pm

[85] : )

89 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 10:57 pm

Jeter's definitely looked worse, everyone's first thought on that was "out for the year"

90 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 10:57 pm

[87] I don't think it is the pitches being thrown as much as the conviction with which he is throwing them.

The Yankees have really hit the ball hard...which means they will break through or this is going to be a very frustrating night.

91 Raf   ~  May 26, 2009 10:57 pm

[81] That's your New York accent shining through :D

92 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:58 pm

[80] One of the issues I have with both Hughes and Chamberlain is they seem to throw at least one waste pitch every AB, and when they throw a waste pitch, its never a pitch that anyone would even consider offering at.

93 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 10:59 pm

Run.

94 randym77   ~  May 26, 2009 11:00 pm

Speedy Gardner beats the throw.

95 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 11:00 pm

How does Brett's speed compare to the league? Who's faster?

96 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:00 pm

Brett Gardner could be the MVP of the game if he knocks out Millwood.

97 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 11:01 pm

[90] So Joba's pitches lack conviction? Hoss? Hoss?

98 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:01 pm

Good.

99 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:02 pm

[96] You mean like Gardner versus a relay race of everyone else in the league?

100 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:02 pm

Good

102 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:03 pm

this is all fun and games Brett, but don't go doing something stupid and turning Damon into the starting CF

103 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:03 pm

Gardner can manufacture himself all he wants, but Matsui still hasn't figured out this whole hitting thing.

104 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:04 pm

Sox lose.

[99] hey matt, you comin' to atlanta for the Yanks series end of June?

105 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:05 pm

Saw that one coming.

106 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:05 pm

[101] no one should EVER quote (or paraphrase) The Offspring. ; )

107 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:05 pm

This definitely is shaping up to be one of those games...and the insult to injury is it will end around 1am.

108 Emma Span   ~  May 26, 2009 11:05 pm

[95] Hmm, good question. Who's the fastest MLB player? I don't know if he's faster than Gardner, but off the top of my head, Carlos Gomez is super-speedy. I remember watching him on the Mets before he got traded, and Reyes admitting that Gomez was the only teammate who could beat him in a race.

109 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:07 pm

[104] Man, that would be cool! But unfortunately I'm doing some field work in Maine that week. The Yanks get closer, I get further away...

110 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 11:07 pm

[99] I'd like to see Home to 1st and all around the bases. On his inside-the-park job, he looked like he got airbound.

111 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:08 pm

isn't Joey Gathright still employed?

Matsui is suffering.

[107] i love late nite baseball! : )

[114] I was just on Cape Cod for a wedding last weekend... while I love it there, it's impossible to find an establishment there that's not slathered in Sox gear, and since half the wedding guests were coming up from NYC, there were a number of pretty heated exchanges at the bar (you know, the ones that start off all good-natured and then actually get a little hostile).

The other half of the guests were from England, and were pretty confused. I tried to compare it to ManU and Chelsea...

128 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:17 pm

132 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:18 pm

[129] I've never met any of these people that allegedly read the book.

133 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:18 pm

Does Joba have to go to three balls on every batter?

134 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 26, 2009 11:18 pm

Texas Radio guy: "Carl Pavano now has more wins this year than ANY Yankee..how about that??"

135 randym77   ~  May 26, 2009 11:19 pm

[108] I looked that up once. The record for running from home to 1B is 3.3 seconds (by a lefty batter, of course).

Gomez is probably one of the fastest, if not the fastest. He was clocked at 3.4 seconds...from the right-handed batter's box.

Brett Gardner has been clocked at 3.9 seconds.

For comparison, Ichiro is at 3.7 seconds. Our previous left-handed, undersized, speedy outfielder, Bubba Crosby, took 4.0 seconds.

Zack Greinke .... 75 IP, 54 H, 12 bb, 81 K, ZERO homers allowed, 0.88 ERA, 8-1

138 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:20 pm

[131] Incredible free throw by Lebron.

139 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:20 pm

[134] meanwhile the Indians are 10 games under and the Yankees are a game out of first, but whatever works

140 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:21 pm

[138] Howard going for an Academy Award there

141 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:21 pm

[134] a-shut up in ya face! ; )

[131] looks like you've got another quarter.

[137] he's superman this year. good for him!

142 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:22 pm

I followed [131] and turned on the basketball game... and immediately saw evidence of the terrible officiating which has kept me from consistently following the NBA. Howard got freaking mugged on the last play of regulation! Back to baseball....

143 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:22 pm

I've got 1985 by Bowling for Soup stuck in my head.

I don't know what this means.

144 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:23 pm

52 pitches by Joba over 2 innings. That's just awful.

145 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:23 pm

[137] i think his ERA is 0.84. that, and his first name is really Donald.

146 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 11:25 pm

Even money says the Indians deal Pavano by July 31, to the Mets.

147 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 11:25 pm

[135] Well done. So Gomez is faster then Brett.

148 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:25 pm

[142] baseball RULES!!! : )

149 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:26 pm

[142] I'm barely an NBA guy anymore, but a real good playoff nailbiter grabs my attention every time. And I'm sorry, but Howard was flopping there.

150 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:26 pm

[146] You think Pavano will be healthy on July 31?

151 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:26 pm

Johnny Baseball! i'd love for him to steal, make something happen here...

[146] good call.

152 OldYanksFan   ~  May 26, 2009 11:26 pm

Time for Tex to blast one.

153 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 11:26 pm

[144] And to those "Eighth Inning Pundits" including Francesa, the short bus is ====> that way... Joba's driving!

Don't forget your helmets!

154 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:26 pm

[147] At least home to 1st...Gardner does not get out of the box as quickly as guys like Gomez and Ichiro.

155 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:27 pm

[149] i agree...if anything, the foul could have been on Howard.

156 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:27 pm

Well, this is infuriating

157 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:28 pm

Yep...this is setting up to be a very frustrating game.

158 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:28 pm

Heh. Not a good day for Salty. His runners caught numbers are taking a beating due to Millwood.

159 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:29 pm

[155] Upon further review, I agree. But I still don't like the refs in the NBA.

160 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:30 pm

Hell of a head of hair on Salty

161 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:31 pm

i love that alex is taking his walks. but i wish there were only 1 out. we really need to plate at least 1 run here...

162 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:31 pm

I really wish there was some good news on Melky...it would take some of the edge off what has been a very frustrating start to this game.

163 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:32 pm

[159] Well if Tim Duncan can be ejected from a game for laughing, yeah thats a problem.

164 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:32 pm

I hate this game

165 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:33 pm

Maybe that storm can make a U-turn and come back?

166 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:34 pm

[162] i keep refreshing LoHud like a madman, seeing if Pete has any news on Melky.

167 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 11:34 pm

This is all Flash's fault!

Ever since he's returned to the booth, his inherent mediocrity has rubbed off on the team!

It's like Dave "Rabbits" going to the booth with Orsillo...

: )

Throw. Strikes.

173 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:38 pm

Howard > LeBron

(on that play)

175 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:39 pm

is joba getting squeezed? all 3 balls appear to be on the outside line.

176 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:40 pm

More outings like this and maybe Joba should be moved to the bullpen. This is just awful pitching.

177 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:40 pm

Maddening.

178 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 26, 2009 11:41 pm

just back, 70 pitches in 2 1/3 innings?? rain, please!

179 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:41 pm

[175] Nope...he has no idea what he is doing or where the ball is going. This outing is going to decimate an already taxed bullpen.

180 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:41 pm

I had no idea he even had an out that inning.

181 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:41 pm

throw strikes. damn you!

182 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:42 pm

70 pitches to get 7 outs. : /

183 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:43 pm

whew. nice work.

184 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 11:43 pm

[182] Maybe he's trying for a perfect game of 300...

185 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:44 pm

Seeing that swing by Gardner makes me feel even worse about Melky's injury...speaking of which, the abscence of news is very concerning.

186 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:45 pm

Magic win

187 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:46 pm

infield single for matsui? hell, i'll take it. sure, why not...

188 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:46 pm

[179] Hey, the bullpen had that day off yesterday.

189 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 11:47 pm

[186] "Magic win"

Sounds like the only way the Yankees can get a victory tonight...

190 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:48 pm

[187] Should have been an E-5.
[188] Aside from Aceves and Mariano, everyone else in the bullpen is inherently taxed.

191 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:48 pm

chipper gets a bad rep in the field. he just made a real nice play and i've seen him make tons of great plays here in Atl...

192 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

[190] hometown call. i'm not surprised...

193 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

Melky has a strained right shoulder. X-rays were negative.

194 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

I would like to see Robertson come in, but they will undoubtedly bring in Wang first...

Bleh!

195 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

i happen to like clogged bases.

196 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

X-Rays negative!

197 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

well sounds like it could've been a lot worse for Melky

198 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

[193]

please don't rush him back .... please ...

199 randym77   ~  May 26, 2009 11:49 pm

Good news on Melky. It's just a sprain. X-rays negative.

200 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:50 pm

Melky: "Right shoulder strain, X-rays were negative." Whew.

[190] Robertson's back in town, he hasn't pitched since Sunday....

202 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:50 pm

[193] hell fuckin' yeah!!! did the shoulder ever pop out? i'm guessing NO...

I hate this game.

205 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:51 pm

Were the runners going? This game really, really sucks.

206 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:51 pm

oh Chris Christie, you really are convinced you have a shot aren't you?

207 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:52 pm

aaarrrggghhh!!!

208 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:52 pm

[199] Actually, it's a strain, not a sprain. The latter is usually more serious.

209 PJ   ~  May 26, 2009 11:52 pm

[198] I would guess that's worth a 15 Day DL stint for a shoulder strain, no?

Maybe a call for Jackson will be forthcoming...

210 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:53 pm

meanwhile, i'm watching lincecum make the braves look foolish...

211 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:54 pm

I really don't know how I feel about rushing Jackson up here, he's still homerless and strikeout-prone in AAA...that isn't a recipie for immediate success

212 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:54 pm

What a wretched, wretched start by Joba.

213 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:54 pm

[209] Muscle strains have degrees of severity, so I am not sure. It could even be as little as a couple of days.

214 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 11:54 pm

Shelley Duncan perhaps?

215 Raf   ~  May 26, 2009 11:54 pm

[205] No they weren't

216 mehmattski   ~  May 26, 2009 11:55 pm

See, that's why they keep the center field green so wet, running the sprinklers after a rainstorm. So that fans can comically dive 20-30 feet for a home run ball.

217 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:55 pm

the worst part about this game is that we all know exactly what we're gonna read/hear first thing tomorrow morning, that every time Joba gives up a run it's "proof" that he's more useful to this team as a one inning reliever.

218 thelarmis   ~  May 26, 2009 11:56 pm

christ almighty. 75 pitches for 3 innings. tons of walks and extra base hits. we're lucky it's only 3 runs. can we please plaster millwood now???

219 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:56 pm

Joba has been absolutely awful today...he doesn't have good stuff and he doesn't seem capable of pitching through it.

220 Mattpat11   ~  May 26, 2009 11:56 pm

"Arsenio Hall is back!"

Why?

221 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 26, 2009 11:56 pm

Long rain delay could have made Joba "rusty"?
Pitchers are mysterious and a little freaky..who da hell knows??

222 randym77   ~  May 26, 2009 11:56 pm

I think they should let Brett Gardner play, at least until Melky gets back. Pete Abe still thinks he has a much higher ceiling than Melky. He says Gardner always takes awhile to adjust to a new level, but he does it. Dunno if I buy it, but I'm willing to give him a shot. I'd rather see what we have in Gardner than rush Jackson up here.

223 RagingTartabull   ~  May 26, 2009 11:57 pm

Flarhety should really never be allowed to leave Bob Lorenz's side

224 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:57 pm

[217] As frustrating as that might be, when he performs like this, that argument has a lot of credibility. With the state of the Yankee bullpen, 5 inning starts don't have much value.

225 williamnyy23   ~  May 26, 2009 11:58 pm

[222] If Melky is going to miss more than 3-4 games, I would call up AJ. Gardner is simply not a good hitter.

226 Diane Firstman   ~  May 26, 2009 11:59 pm

G'night all ....

227 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:00 am

242 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:04 am

Wow, A-Rod only barely beat that out.

243 RagingTartabull   ~  May 27, 2009 12:04 am

does the Rangers infield have a pool going on who can get themselves on the 15 DL first?

244 PJ   ~  May 27, 2009 12:04 am

LOL Emma...

: )

245 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:05 am

All right, the stinging in the fingers causes Millwood to hang another curve to Cano to tie the game. Come on Robbie!

246 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:05 am

another hometown call? Alex seems to be pretty mobile.

247 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:05 am

Can't wait to see that one on Hit Tracker.

248 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:06 am

It seems like the Yankees are swinging very early in the count. Whenever they do that, it usually means 8 innings for the starter.

249 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:06 am

crap. some tough hitters here in the 5th. give us at least 1 more inning, dude.

250 RagingTartabull   ~  May 27, 2009 12:06 am

if I had a Tivo, "Shaken Not Stirred" would be the only thing on it

that and "No Reservations"

251 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:06 am

[237] Remember the Scott Proctor Curveball? Particularly early in his career, Proctor had this awful, big rolling curveball. Anytime a pitcher throws an awful hook me and my friends joke about the Scott Proctor Curveball.

252 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:07 am

[246] Well, the ball bounced off of Millwood's hand, and picked up in front of second base on the grass by Vizquel. His throw was up the line and Davis tried some kind of contortionist move to get it. A-Rod was definitely running hard, but an accurate hard throw would have gotten him. I'm just eyeballing it but i think A-Rod's lost a few steps.

253 RagingTartabull   ~  May 27, 2009 12:07 am

is Aceves in?

254 RagingTartabull   ~  May 27, 2009 12:08 am

and he is

255 PJ   ~  May 27, 2009 12:08 am

[250] I have Kung Fu Panda on my TIVO now, RT...

: )

256 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:08 am

[252] Arod didn't start running hard until he noticed the ball go off Millwood's fingers. I also don't think an accurate throw would have had him.

257 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:10 am

Seems like a real waste to have to keep using Aceves in this role, especially in a game the team is trailing. I'd like to see Aceves used in the late innings, but starts like this one pretty much ensure more Veras in crunch time.

258 RagingTartabull   ~  May 27, 2009 12:13 am

alright gang I'm out, heres to hoping I wake up to some sort of "Cerevelli's grand slam sparks 9 run inning" headlines

259 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:13 am

[252] thanks.

ah, i'm fine w/ Ace in now. esp after that quick inning. hopefully he can go 3. will we see Wang after?

260 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:14 am

[257] Veras is the only bullpen guy who went yesterday, so maybe he's not in the cards today. If the Yankees continue to trail I bet it's Aceves for two, Robertson for one, then Alby or Coke for one. I do have some faith in Robertson's abilities, I just don't think he's in the Circle of Trust yet.

261 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:14 am

I think Gardner's figuring it out.

262 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:15 am

we're not in the clear yet. per pete abe:

Meanwhile, trainer Gene Monahan sent word via Jason Zillo that Meky didn’t have an X-ray. He had something called a fluoro. That showed nothing. He’ll get an MRI tomorrow.

263 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:16 am

[261] figuring out that he's not a major leaguer?! ; )

264 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:16 am

[262] Damn it...nothing was as much fun as watching Melky come into his own. I really hope he doesn't miss a lot of time.

265 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:16 am

A nice hit and run would be in order, if only Matsui could be trusted to make contact...

266 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:16 am

Pete also asks, "Why not Wang?" Yeah, why not?

267 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:17 am

[264] i know. shoulders are tricky too. we'll see how he feels tomorrow and what the MRI says. hopefully, it's this'll be a 2-week minimum...

268 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:17 am

Matsui is way, way out of whack. That was an pretty poor swing.

269 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:18 am

[268] I guess he's back in whack.

270 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:18 am

Well that's better, Godzilla!

271 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:18 am

wait, gamecast said that Gardner lined out to right. what happened?

272 Emma Span   ~  May 27, 2009 12:19 am

[268] I was about to write the exact same thing, but hey...

273 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:19 am

Hooray!

274 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:19 am

[271] Single to right, stole second on a 2-0 pitch (taken for a strike). Matsui doubled off the right field wall three pitches later.

275 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:19 am

[271] Singled to right and then stole 2B.

276 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:19 am

ah, i see! let's go Swish. we better tie it this inning...at the very least.

277 51cq24   ~  May 27, 2009 12:19 am

how was that last pitch a strike? it was like a foot inside.

278 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:20 am

thanks guys!

279 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:20 am

Why do they keep taking pitches right down the middle!

280 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:21 am

Gardner has an enormous head.

281 tommyl   ~  May 27, 2009 12:21 am

Yay! Tie game! We have a backup catcher!

282 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:21 am

Italian National Hero Francisco Cervelli!

283 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:22 am

Millwood's been getting away with that slider all game...I can't believe Matsui scored so easily.

284 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:22 am

Nice hit, Frankie! What a terrible, awful attempt a throw by Byrd. Barely made it to second base.

285 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:22 am

I TOLD YOU!!! ; )

286 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:23 am

Cervelli learned his takeout slide from Eliot Johnson...

287 OldYanksFan   ~  May 27, 2009 12:23 am

I hate this team.

288 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:23 am

[271] LOL! I was wondering why you were so down on Gardner in [263]

He gets his second hit and steals his third base of the game, and you say he doesn't belong in the big leagues. :-D

289 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:23 am

It seems like Jeter has seen about 6 pitches in his 4 ABs so far. And, he keeps hitting the same ball.

290 Emma Span   ~  May 27, 2009 12:23 am

Wow. Cervelli got old school on that slide.

291 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:24 am

why is jeter pulling everything today? is he waaay out in front of breaking pitches?

292 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:25 am

[290] The problem was Kinsler, who caught the throw and then became a spectator. As a 2B, you have to get out of the way immediately.

293 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:25 am

[288] yeah, i had a good excuse for being an idiot! for a change... ; )

294 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:26 am

Yankees can smell first place.

295 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:26 am

Captain Wheels has 10 stolen bases this season. me likey!

296 51cq24   ~  May 27, 2009 12:27 am

why don't they just let the coaches carry gloves?

297 Emma Span   ~  May 27, 2009 12:27 am

[292] I wasn't being critical of Cervelli... it was clean. You just don't see that kind of slide from the Yanks too often these days (or at least, that's my impression).

298 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:27 am

do it again, Tex!

299 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:28 am

Mmm, me likey some Jason Jennings. 27 baserunners in 18 innings so far this season.

300 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:28 am

[295] He's not stealing them with speed, but with smarts, which is what makes it even better.

I hate seeing Millwood lifted...he should have been mauled in this game.

301 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:29 am

[297] I know you weren't being critical...sorry about that. I was just pointing out Kinsler's actions.

302 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:31 am

I am shocked that Jennings got Teixeira...that AB seemed like damage just waiting to happen.

303 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:31 am

Has Jason Jennings always been a satchelass?

304 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:33 am

bollocks. hey, at least we're tied. let's hold 'em, then take 'em down!

305 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:34 am

[302] so did the one against Lidge. : /

306 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:36 am

[305] I think you mean Condrey. That seemed like a given too, but not as much as this one. It was the same feeling I get when Jose Veras faces a great opposing hitter...just in reverse. I wish the Veras confrontations ended the same way more often.

307 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:38 am

[306] yeah, him too!

308 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:38 am

Yankee CF'ers just can't seem to catch those balls tonight.

309 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:39 am

That reminded me way too much of Crosby/Sheffield

310 PJ   ~  May 27, 2009 12:39 am

Crosby/Sheffield at Anaheim flashback there...

311 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:39 am

I was afraid they were going to collide and kill each other there.

312 PJ   ~  May 27, 2009 12:39 am

*jinx*

313 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:40 am

Flaherty calls a great game from the booth...I wonder if the Yankee ERA was significantly lower with him behind the plate?

314 PJ   ~  May 27, 2009 12:40 am

Shit!

315 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:41 am

That reallly sucks. Absolutely sucks. Fucking sucks.

316 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:41 am

Damnit to hell.

317 51cq24   ~  May 27, 2009 12:41 am

he could have tried a little harder for that ball

318 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:41 am

fuck. 1-run in this ballpark shouldn't feel so heavy, but it does...

319 Emma Span   ~  May 27, 2009 12:42 am

Just one of those nights, looks like. (Not that it's over by any stretch... but whoever wins, it won't have been pretty).

320 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:42 am

HA!

321 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:42 am

Omar Vizquel always seemed like a whiner to me.

322 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:43 am

A-Rod caught a popup. Uneventfully. The apocalypse is upon us. ;-)

323 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:44 am

[322] ...and then leads off the next inning with a game tying solo shot...

324 PJ   ~  May 27, 2009 12:44 am

G'nite all...

325 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:46 am

[323] Or a groundout to 3B.

326 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:46 am

If the Yankees don't score off of Jason Jennings...

327 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:48 am

[325] i liked my idea better... : /

328 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:52 am

IN THE AIR. NO DOUBLE PLAY HIDEKI.

329 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:52 am

Seems like Gardner has figured out how to hit slow right handed pitching, at least.

330 OldYanksFan   ~  May 27, 2009 12:52 am

Can Matsui bunt?

331 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:53 am

ladies and gentelman, i give to you: Major League ballplayer, Brett Gardner! ; )

now, steal 2nd, kid...

332 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:53 am

Gardner 3 for 4.

He really is hitting better these days. His batting average is up to .274.

333 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:54 am

might be nice to have an option on the bench, like Nady or Shelley...

334 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:54 am

29 baserunners in 18 IP.

335 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 27, 2009 12:55 am

wow, cambe back to a 4-3 game..C'mon Matsui, 頑張れ!!

336 51cq24   ~  May 27, 2009 12:55 am

what a ridiculous strike call

337 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:56 am

get the damn runner home

338 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:56 am

That's not good.

339 mehmattski   ~  May 27, 2009 12:56 am

Well that's one way to not ground into a double play.

340 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:56 am

Okay Nick. IN THE AIR.

341 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:57 am

well, at least he didn't make an out.

NO DP, Swish!!!

[335] was wondering where you were...

342 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:57 am

Mike Maddux got old.

343 51cq24   ~  May 27, 2009 12:58 am

what a dick

344 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 12:58 am

I'm irritated.

345 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 12:59 am

If Melky goes on the DL, I'm sure they'll call up an outfielder. If not Shelley Duncan, maybe John Rodriguez or Todd Linden. They are both hitting really well, and are not prospects. No worries about hurting their development by parking them on the bench.

346 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 12:59 am

That's just awful...absolutely inexusable AB by Swisher. This team seems determined to shoot itself in the foot tonight. That inning was pretty much delivered to them on a silver platter.

347 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 12:59 am

OMG. Fuck You, Swisher.

348 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:00 am

For once I agree with Pete Abe...Swisher needs less jokes and more hits.

349 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:01 am

more Ace. and another leadoff man aboard. i fear we just lost the game top of this inning... : /

350 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:01 am

While the Yankees wait for word on Melky, they need to make some moves to get a viable bench. A guy like Swisher shouldn't be playing day in and day out through this slump, but there are no other options.

351 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 1:02 am

Well, there's always tomorrow.

352 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:02 am

It never fails. Whenever a team absolutely gives away a scoring opportunity, the opposition comes right back and makes them pay.

353 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:03 am

bollocks. Ace shouldn't be in there. Wang...someone. i fear this is gonna get ugly.

354 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 1:04 am

[335] Does that say "gambare"? (I'm guessing, I can only read the last character.)

355 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:04 am

There's alot of blame to spread around, but tonight's goat is Joba. His pitiful performance put the Yankees in catch-up mode off the bat and exposed a bullpen not designed for length.

356 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:06 am

Playing the IF back? Giving away runs in the 7th? How does that make sense?

357 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:07 am

and so it begins...

358 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:08 am

can Texas send in Swisher as a pinch hitter? please!

359 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 27, 2009 1:08 am

[354] Yep! You know hiragana?

360 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:10 am

and so it continues...

361 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 1:10 am

Why not Wang tonight? Do they have other plans for him or something?

362 Emma Span   ~  May 27, 2009 1:10 am

Okay, I'm going to walk the dog - hopefully this will trigger a dramatic Yankees comeback that I will then be ticked off to have missed.

But probably not...

363 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:10 am

Aceves ran out of steam early. One has to wonder if Girardi's brain dead decision to use him yesterday had an impact. Meanwhile, by playing the infield back, the Yankees gave away to two runs. Absolutely incredible....if the Yankees play a close game, you can beat Girardi will do something to make you bang your head.

364 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 1:13 am

[359] I had a year of Japanese class in my misspent youth. Learned hiragana, katakana, and a few kanji.

But most of the Japanese I know (which isn't much) was learned from Japanese television. Which means I can say, "Help, save me from the monster" but not "Where is the bathroom." ;-)

365 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:13 am

Aces High - as in his ERA skyrocketed tonight from the 1's to the 3's...

366 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:15 am

[361] good ?

[362] i think that only works for rbj, but it's worth a shot! ; )

367 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:18 am

feeble.

368 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:18 am

This is the type of game that the Yankees played in April...now, they have lost 3 of 5...hopefully, we're not going right back to where this team was before the winning streak. The level of play today has been so poor that it really makes you wonder why.

369 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 1:19 am

Well, that sucked.

Shoulda saved some of those runs from yesterday...

370 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 27, 2009 1:20 am

[364] That's great, wish I had been able to study it in school before getting here. Would have saved many hours of pain in classes..

371 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:21 am

Might as well pour it on...meanwhile, at what point does Girardi learn that Coke is not a lefty specialist, nor is he a particularly effective reliever?

372 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:23 am

christ almighty. how many homers have lefties hit off Coke already?

373 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:28 am

throwin' strikes right outta the chute - i like that!

374 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 1:35 am

Well, tomorrow then. Burnett needs to cut out the bullshit and get moving.

375 williamnyy23   ~  May 27, 2009 1:35 am

Tex swings 2-0, Arod swings 3-1...doesn't seem like the Yankees had much interest in this game. The way they've played tonight is really a shame. Hopefully this isn't the beginning of another long stretch of mediocrity.

376 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 1:37 am

I hate DI. Stupid rule.

377 Emma Span   ~  May 27, 2009 1:38 am

Ah well. G'night everyone!

378 randym77   ~  May 27, 2009 1:39 am

I didn't realize Omar Vizquel was that old. He's 42.

Jeez. Could Jeter have another 7-8 years at SS?

379 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:40 am

and Gardner doesn't swing at all. feh.

i don't have faith in AJ for tomorrow.

it's on ESPN, so i guess i'll come straight up after teaching to watch it with y'all, then head back to the studio late nite to practice...

380 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2009 1:44 am

I really, really really hope Girardi doesn't throw the getaway day lineup out there tomorrow, but I have a feeling he will.

381 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:47 am

well, it's a night game, nationally televised and there's a day off the following day - i sure hope he puts out the top Starting 9.

382 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:49 am

wow, Texas has the 2nd best record in all of baseball.

383 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 27, 2009 1:50 am

[380,381] Berroa at 3rd! Pena at SS! Gardy leading off! Cervelli behind the plate! The young-gritty all-stars are bound to win!

384 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:51 am

boBBy finally went yard and got his 1st homer tonight. his SLG. is .396...

385 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:51 am

[383] you mean Cash behind the plate...

386 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 27, 2009 1:52 am

[385] Cash isn't that young..oops, neither is Berroa..

387 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 1:55 am

yeah, i was just thinking about the worst lineup joey joe joe could throw out there tomorrow.

check out the lineup i'm listening to now: art blakey, horace silver, clifford brown, lou donaldson, curly russell. talk about all-world players!!! : )

388 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  May 27, 2009 2:01 am

[387] now THAT is a great lineup!

Ghana Soundz 1970s Funk compilation here

389 thelarmis   ~  May 27, 2009 2:05 am

nice. i spun Jimmy McGriff's Electric Funk cd today. it's on Blue Note - Rare Groove Series - 1969. it's really good...
