Our very own Emma Span will be on Jeopardy tonight. Yup, that’s right. She’s on Jeopardy. Don’t miss it.

You can watch her introduce herself here ...

Emma, good luck! I'll try to remember to watch.

[2] Oh man, this is already embarrassing. It's really hard to come up with a non-cheesy "Hometown Howdy", though. (My friend had suggested, "Hey Brooklyn, if you were thinking about skipping Jeopardy tonight - fuhgeddaboudit!")

And why am I blinking so much? Jesus.

Emma is like the 10th person I've known to appear on either Jeopardy or Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Me? I won a CD player from WNEW-FM years ago for knowing which side of the record each of two Dire Straits songs came from.

I'm pretty smart, but my expertise is not diverse-enough to get on those shows.

You go Emma!

No sweat kiddo.

It would only be embarrassing if you didn't make the Final Jeopardy round.
(you DID make Final Jeopardy, right?) :-)

[6] it was good emma. i mean you are right that it is almost impossible not to be too corny there - but yours was good. since your ys memory was one of my favorite because of the whole he [curt schilling] is a "fucking pussy" it would have been great to work the phrase fucking pussy in - but i am guessing alex trebek would have passed out on the spot

good luck. when in doubt, the correct answer is always: who is karim garcia?

11 Emma Span   ~  Oct 12, 2009 2:24 pm

[9] Yes, I doubt that would have made it through unbleeped.

And now I'm regretting not writing [10] "who is Karim Garcia?" as my Final Jeopardy answer. Given the question, it would have been hilariously nonsensical.

[10]

Perhaps, in some fairy tale world, "Karim Garcia" is its own Jeopardy category, complete with Video Daily Double.

[11]
either that or "134"

ROFLMAO ....

[7] I don't want to hear your excuses.

15 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 12, 2009 2:40 pm

The correct answer is "Who is Eli Whitney?" Works once every six months.

16 Diane Firstman   ~  Oct 12, 2009 2:57 pm

[14]

but ... but ... its true (sniff) ....

I know jacks**t about history, literature .... but math, science, words ... then we're OK.

I DID try out for one of those ESPN sports trivia shows a few years ago ... didn't even make it past the written exam. :-(

"Who is Nathan Lane?" - not always the correct answer but it will definitely get you invited to the judges' after-party.

18 Diane Firstman   ~  Oct 12, 2009 3:02 pm

I would be a good contestant on a game show called "Stump the Schwa".

One of my Scrabble acquaintances is one of the founding Jeopardy archivists.

I DVR it every night anyway, so I'm there.

[10] & [12] Someday I'll be on Jeopardy and the actual answer (or "question") will be "Who is Karim Garcia?" and I'll probably miss it...
