Wow, WEEI is reporting that J. P. Ricciardi is going to move into ESPN's Baseball Tonight. Jay's fans don't seem optimistic, but there's no doubt in my mind that he'll be better than Steve Phillips.

[1] Mrs. OK Jazz has watched, perhaps, 3 total hours of baseball in her life. Even SHE provides better commentary than Steve Phillips (and she won't hit on the young interns, either!) I remember in the WS she just glanced over, saw Tex guarding the line, and immediately said "He does that to protect against hard hit balls down the foul line, right?" Basic, but not bad for a complete novice.

[2] My roommate's the same way. She'll make a casual remark about a fielder's positioning or runners in scoring position and I'll glance at her sidelong. She did enjoy a live ballgame on the rare occasion we got tickets to old Yankee Stadium.

[1] Don't suppose he's keeping the seat warm for Omar, huh? Even Ricciardi would be a relative marked improvement in Queens, but wowzers E@#$ would get the isht end of the stick in that swap (unless Omar did a ventriloquist act with Jerry Manuel as his puppet)...
