Oh, and Josh Beckett stinks. Thrilled he's signed for 5 more years with the Sox! Enjoy him and Lackey in their mid-30s while we have CC and Philthy Phranchise mowing down batter after batter.

Huh.
I tried submitting a comment with links to Ken Rosenthal's (stupid) remarks about the Howard deal and FanGraphs' analysis, but it wouldn't take. I tried the anchor tag, then I tried just giving tinyurls. Wordpress wouldn't take my comment.

Hahaha!!! I actually thought for a moment that was KRS-ONE and I was about to say, "No, Alex! Wrong song!! >;)

Oh, also, [2] true, and awesome.
If you watched that series the Sox played against the Orioles, and now this game tonight with the Jays, you do get the strong feeling that there is a yawning gulf between the top to AL East teams and the rest. We'll be battling the Rays in September.

[3] I hate Wordpress. On many occasions it wouldn't even let me log in, despite putting in my password numerous times. I wish Ken would've been able to market his Toaster application...

a man with a dream, with plans to make cream.

this signing is crazy.

[6] I guess Wordpress knows us too well, Will.

bwaahhahah - you've got to look at the ap pictures lohud has posted of the whitehouse ceremony. mk and his big head is everywhere!
and meat-tray looks very serious.

[5] yep the rays are looking really tough.
i kind of think there are enough shitbums for the sox to pick up wins against, especially at home that they won't just fall off until late summer, but i hope i am wrong and they are out of it really, really early.

[2] Yes... in another "Pitching and Defense First" Red Sox game with Totonto, the score is 11-9 Sox, top of the 6th. Beckett gives up 8 ER in 3 IP. Now sporting a 7.22 ERA.

Unfortunately tonight, the BJs might suck more then the Sox.

[8] That's like my cartoon where Ozzark complained about his newspaper subscription being canceled, then found out they canceled it because he was too smart for his own good... though for me [11] would likely indicate otherwise >;)

By the way... anyone think 5/$125m is a tad steep for 30 yr old Ryan Howard?

14 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 26, 2010 10:51 pm

[13] Not Ryan Howard nor his family, that's for sure...

15 Yankster   ~  Apr 26, 2010 11:15 pm

[13] It's less money than Tex got and Howard has slightly better offensive numbers (though it is the NL and then there's defense...) But it's the same ballpark as the Yankees valuation.

16 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 26, 2010 11:36 pm

[15] No... Teix got an AAV of $22.5m. Howard got $25m.

[4] Yeah, at first glance he does look like KRS-1

[16] Still, the deal seems about right.

Read my piece or Tom Verducci's, it's essentially Tex money, and yes, for a big-bodied late-bloomer, the Phils have likely committed too much for too long, but if they get a couple more pennants and another title out of it, it'll be worth it.
