Damn, Girardi doesn't understand why SLG is important. That's depressing. (The WSJ reporter didn't seem to notice, either.)
Doubles drive home runners on base. Stolen bases don't drive home runners on base. So a single plus a SB doesn't add up to a double, if you're talking about what SLG is (partly) supposed to measure.
He's Eric Dickerson's cousin, BTW. Has great speed. He's also very injury-prone. Can't hit lefties. And weirdly, has trouble playing corner outfield. You'd think a center fielder could play the corners, too, but he's not very good at it.
He's also got attitude problems. Both the Reds and the Brewers found him to be a pain. It's one thing to be a diva if you're an all-star, but when you're competing for the 4th or 5th OFer spot...get over yourself.
