Kicked Out the House for Good (…I Can't Be Your Lover)

Interesting piece on stolen bases in the Wall Street Journal.

And, according to Jerry Crasnick, you won’t have ol’ Serge Mitre to kick around anymore.

I guess Mitre's "luck" has finally run out.

Damn, Girardi doesn't understand why SLG is important. That's depressing. (The WSJ reporter didn't seem to notice, either.)

Doubles drive home runners on base. Stolen bases don't drive home runners on base. So a single plus a SB doesn't add up to a double, if you're talking about what SLG is (partly) supposed to measure.

Ugh. I'm not wild about Dickerson.

He's Eric Dickerson's cousin, BTW. Has great speed. He's also very injury-prone. Can't hit lefties. And weirdly, has trouble playing corner outfield. You'd think a center fielder could play the corners, too, but he's not very good at it.

He's also got attitude problems. Both the Reds and the Brewers found him to be a pain. It's one thing to be a diva if you're an all-star, but when you're competing for the 4th or 5th OFer spot...get over yourself.
