Oh, yeah, and the Yanks take on the Texas Rangers. First time this season, first time since losing to the Rangers last October in the ALCS.

Cliff has the preview. We make the noise.

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

[2] Hmm..looks like I'm Freddy-no-Friends on this game thread..oh well, Go Go Team! I hate Texas!

[1] Sorry, I politely disagree.

Switched over from MLBN, where it appears that Javy Vazquez can't handle the pressure of pitching for the Marlins.

Beltre could get 400+ home runs..is he a HOFer? With the super D..not too many 3B in the hall for some reason.

any opinions on the AGon signing....
7/$154m on the heels of the Crawford 7/$142m signing?

7 Raf   ~  Apr 15, 2011 7:42 pm

[6] Good for him

8 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 7:44 pm

[6] Genius moves! Best front office in baseball! They really know what they're doing, always a step ahead of the competition!

9 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 15, 2011 7:47 pm

[6] Poor Boston that they're forced to spend so much in order to remain competitive? Baltimore and Texas don't stand a chance? Screw KC? Let me know if I come close... Oh, hi guys! Is it me or does Alex look younger after shedding the extra bulk?

10 Raf   ~  Apr 15, 2011 7:49 pm

Rachel Robinson still looks pretty good.

11 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 7:50 pm

[9] Yo Chyll, long time buddy! How you doing? Busy here in Atomic City, will be in touch soon with an update.

Boston..if they win the WS this year will we see a plethora of articles about "buying the championship" like when Yanks signed CC and Teix? Doubt it..

12 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 7:52 pm

Who is Lance Pendleton? Is that his real name?? Sounds like an astronaut.

13 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 7:54 pm

Jeez, Lance looks like Biff Tannen...

14 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:00 pm

Wow, what's happening in NYC tonight that no one showed up for the game thread? Oh well, time for some espresso and bagels here..
Go Go Curtis!

[11] Whattup Jazz! Looking fwd to it.

Not liking this SS/Crappy Nova is alternating with.

Well, that was a break...

16 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:05 pm

I think we should give Jeter 1/2 of a BH for hitting a decent fly ball.

17 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:11 pm

I dunno, it's the first nice Friday we've had this year, so most we're probably taking advantage of it. Me, I'm at Uncle Woodrow's, but I'm gonna go back home soon. I'm diggin' the new place...

18 The Hawk   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:31 pm

I'm in,I'm out. I'm not even watching the game, came here to see what was happening. thanks for nothing hahaha! Hey-o I got a free ticket to Sunday's game, whooo!

19 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:40 pm

I'm here too, sort of. Its so strange to see everyone wearing 42. Reasonably crisp game so far. Hopefully the Yanks get ahead . . .

20 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:44 pm

Bad News Bears inning from the Yankees here.

21 Raf   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:44 pm

Nova and Roberston have been yanking far too many pitches, as if they're overthrowing.

22 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:48 pm

None of this is making Larry Lar look too good right now, but it's early and a mixed bag. The bullpen's been lights out more often than not, and AJ has nowhere to go but up. Somebody's gotta take Nova under his wing...

23 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 8:49 pm

No ponch runner for JorgePo?

24 joe   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:03 pm

So I was gonna post in this thread to ask why Jeter is wearing #42, but apparently everyone is wearing #42 and I am no longer alarmed... Jackie Robinson day? Why today?

25 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:04 pm

Logan..sigh...ok, time for chores and podcasts. WIll check in later to see if the komeback kids make an appearance tonight.

26 Raf   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:06 pm

[24] Today's the anniversary of Jackie Robinson's MLB debut.

27 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:33 pm

Oy, not a great game. But nice that this kid--who doesn't look like much--retired the first six guys in his career. 5 dps, though...makes for a rotten evening.

28 Raf   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:39 pm

[27] I wonder if they'll put him on the DL with a dead arm? I don't think he's broken 90 :-)

29 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:48 pm

Meanwhile, Ace Jenks gives up 4 in 1/3 IP. J’s up over Sox 7-3.

30 Diane Firstman   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:48 pm

Rangers do Texas Two-Out on Yanks ...

31 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:49 pm

Boos in Fenway as the Blue Jays are running free on the bases, 4 runs in the 7th off Bobby Jenks. Toronto look like a good team..

This Yankee game incredibly boring..6 double plays!

32 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:54 pm

Six double plays. Oy.

33 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:54 pm

Alex maybe watching that one.

34 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:54 pm

Eh, he wasn't going to get a triple anyhow.

35 Diane Firstman   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:55 pm

Alex should have stopped at 1B to set up the 7th DP

36 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:57 pm

35) LOL

37 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:57 pm

the dp is out of the equation!

38 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 9:59 pm

KEEP HOPE ALIVE!

39 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:00 pm

Let's go JORGE!

40 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:00 pm

C'mon Cletus!

41 Diane Firstman   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:01 pm

Pat Burrell has 4 hits this year .... all solo homers.

42 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:01 pm

I hate Michael Kay.

43 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:02 pm

Ok here we go . . . C'mon Posada!

44 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:02 pm

Wow, threw him a breaking ball. Ballsie.

45 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:03 pm

Bah.

46 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:04 pm

Martin . . . How bout a homer?

47 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:05 pm

Or not. At least they made it exciting for a little bit.

How soon until there are questions about Nova's ability to pitch more than 4 innings?

48 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:09 pm

[48] There are already questions..

49 Raf   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:11 pm

[47] The questions have been there since last season.

50 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 15, 2011 10:55 pm

I missed most of the game. Did we start the runners on any of the 475 double plays, or do we, as a team, still not run plays? I did see what I'm sure was fully intended to be a pinch stand there at the end, but Martin swung at the first pitch.

51 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 15, 2011 11:00 pm

Sox lose.
