Ohhh. That pic makes me very nostalgic. I used to play there as a kid.

I expect us to score big today. And GO PHIL!

2 joe   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:23 pm

Dumbass.

3 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:24 pm

It was dumb... but he was safe.

4 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:27 pm

McCarver's really hard to take.

5 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:30 pm

[4] Even without Joe Buck, yeah.

6 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:30 pm

Damn, Phil throwing strikes and getting it done.

7 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:31 pm

... how the ball ignites out of the hand of Phil Hughes.

8 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:35 pm

K, Hughsie, settle down.

9 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:37 pm

Cano with some hops!

10 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:37 pm

Yeah, Rob!

11 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:37 pm

[9] He's like a good IPA.

12 joe   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:38 pm

Sweet catch!

13 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:38 pm

Every day, this Robinson Cano guy.

14 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:41 pm

That shortstop is a bungler.

15 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:45 pm

Gibson always sounds like a sociopath.

16 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:51 pm

Hip hip!

17 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:51 pm

Hey Ho! Whadda ya know! The old man!

18 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:53 pm

That's a good luck for the kid, with the gum sticking out of his mouth like that.

I should lay off him. Tim says he's a Yankee fan.

19 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 4:54 pm

Oh, nice. Good luck = good look.

20 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:02 pm

Phil heating up.

21 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:06 pm

Yes, I'm sure it's a surreal moment.
What a wordsmith.

22 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:06 pm

"He just got a lucky hit off of him."

Hahahah!

I like this guy.

23 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:07 pm

God, it's painful. "I just want to watch my son play baseball in Yankee Stadium, and this jackass won't leave me alone."

24 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:08 pm

(Those were Steve H's thoughts. I read them easily.)

25 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:11 pm

Cano is a GREAT hitter.

Did you see that?

26 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:12 pm

[23] Hahahah! Right?

27 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:16 pm

Good pitch. That change-up is deadly if he can set it up.

28 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:16 pm

That was a good changeup.

Fuck, it's almost like I'm rooting for this kid now.

Fuck him and his family.

29 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:21 pm

Make it look easy, Swish!

30 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:23 pm

[29] Hahah.

31 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:25 pm

Why didn't Teix throw? On the replay it looks like he easily had the lead runner.

32 Marek   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:26 pm

Phil's getting squeezed here.

33 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:27 pm

[32] He isn't getting low strikes called. Aside from that, it's a pretty accurate strike zone.

34 Marek   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:28 pm

[33] Agreed. It just looked like the first two balls on the last batter were above the knees.

35 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:34 pm

Hmmmmm. This #20 kid looks pretty good.

36 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:38 pm

Gosh, the Rays' dugout is real tense, huh?

37 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:48 pm

Phil getting stronger as the game progresses.

38 mhoward120   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:49 pm

The way Phil is pitching, wonder whether Girardi would really bite the bullet and send Burnett to the pen.

39 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:51 pm

EDSP! No way!

40 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:53 pm

Fucking Curtis. He's ridiculous.

41 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 5:56 pm

Rob does everything.

42 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:06 pm

HIP HIP!!!!!

That was gratifying. Damn.

43 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:07 pm

Howdy folks finally made it to Lake Gaston and logged into wi-Di. And to see Jorge do dat

44 mhoward120   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:08 pm

Isn't it fitting that on a day the Yankees honored Derek Jeter for his 3000th hit, the story of today is the man who made sure he was the first teammate to greet the Captain at home plate that day?

45 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:09 pm

Di = fi

46 RIYank   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:10 pm

Good timing, rbj. Bad typing, but good timing.

47 mhoward120   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:16 pm

Betcha Burnett is smiling at this inning so far

48 Jon DeRosa   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:18 pm

Thousands upon thousands of words spilled on the guys demise this week. Then he steps between the lines and for one afternoon says shove it. Sports are great that way.

49 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:18 pm

She's hot, this Mrs. D-Rob.

50 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:22 pm

RIYank, it is the Touchpad, has to learn wi-fi. For a wireless device.

51 Matt Blankman   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:31 pm

[49] Yes, it seems like D-Rob has done very well for himself all around, huh?

One more hit for Jorge here would be fun.

52 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:35 pm

I missed the salami. Good for Jorgie, he got a curtain call.

At the very least, the man should feel beloved of the fans.

53 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:44 pm

ha ha

54 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:45 pm

That ball should have been caught.

55 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:47 pm

Omg.

.229?

How wacky is that?

32 game hitting streak and the dude is hitting .229.

You just can't predict baseball.

56 OldYanksFan   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:48 pm

I don't know if it was here or on RAB, but someone suggested something fantastic.

On the last Home game as YS, after the Yanks take the field for the last inning... a substitution should be announced, and Posada should come out and Catch the last inning.

I imagine the ovation would bring Po to near tears.

57 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:54 pm

56 yes

58 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:54 pm

I think Damon's postseason performance should be a lock for him.

59 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Aug 13, 2011 6:54 pm

[56] Yes.

60 mhoward120   ~  Aug 13, 2011 7:10 pm

Uh, Tim, your should have said "inconceivable" not "inconsiderable" as to the Yankee bullpen

61 rbj   ~  Aug 13, 2011 7:14 pm

Nice win. Phil looked good, Jorge was awesome.

62 mhoward120   ~  Aug 13, 2011 7:18 pm

So who's goin to the pen?

63 mhoward120   ~  Aug 13, 2011 7:23 pm

Burnett tomorrow, Garcia hurt? Guess we can concede 20% of the remaining games

64 Alex Belth   ~  Aug 13, 2011 7:46 pm

56) You're a softie after all.
