[1] I think context is everything. In another band, Bonham might have sounded really ham-handed. In Zeppelin, he's just exactly perfect. A singular sound.
They were just so damned funky.
I figure you have to give Page & Jones a lot of credit for being guys who had logged a lot of session work prior to Zep. Those guys could play anything.
