Wait, who is playing left? Oh, man. This could be a long night.

2 RagingTartabull   ~  Apr 30, 2012 4:31 pm

Sheeeeeit, I'll take any motherfucker's money if he GIVIN' IT AWAY!!

Between LeBron on one channel and Eduardo Nunez: LEFTFIELDER! on the other I'm gonna need a stiff drink.

3 Sliced Bread   ~  Apr 30, 2012 4:35 pm

High Noon is playing left.
Adventurous.

4 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 30, 2012 4:36 pm
5 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 5:07 pm

My bet is he fields the position better than Ibañez.

Hey, one nose is as good as another.

6 ms october   ~  Apr 30, 2012 5:45 pm

all you ungrateful bitches trying to throw me from the boat.

7 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 5:48 pm

Per Boston Globe: the Red Sox at home have a team OPS of .898.
The A's have a team OPS of .597.

8 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 30, 2012 5:49 pm

[5] My bet is you field the position better than Ibañez, RI.

Has it really come to this? Ibañez in RF and Nunez in LF? There had to be a way to get another OF on the 25-man roster until Gardner gets back (we pray) on Thursday. Right? Garcia has got to be hurt, right, that's why he's pitching so poorly, see? You DL him, move Pineda to the 60 day DL to open a spot on the 40 man, and then add Dickerson or Wise. When Garcia comes back, option the extra OF down. That's why those guys are in AAA, right?

Gee, I hope Kuroda keeps the balls on the ground tonight.

9 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:09 pm

Yeah. Dickerson would be a huge upgrade, huh?

I actually know the physics of tracking a fly ball. It's amazing. For some reason it doesn't make me into a great outfielder. (I'd be happy to explain it to Raul, though -- my consulting fee is very reasonable.)

10 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:12 pm

Well, that was nice.
So, we have three good pitchers, now. Maybe. Knock on wood.

11 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:12 pm

Nunez! This is going to be an adventure.

12 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:13 pm

[11] Nuñe7!

13 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:27 pm

Those two waste pitches to Jones sure paid off

14 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:27 pm

[12], What, already??

15 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:27 pm

Ugh.

16 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:27 pm

Jesus fucking christ

17 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:27 pm

I could have caught that. How did he ever start in the OF?

18 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:28 pm

Nunez > Ibanez tonight.

19 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:29 pm

These guys should watch how Murcer fielded. They go back WAY too slowly. Go back to the WALL guys!

20 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:30 pm

Wait..Ibanez in RF and Nunez in LF?? WTF??!

21 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:30 pm

[18] See? [5] (almost).

22 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:31 pm

I can't look at Betemit without bringing back terrible memories of Girardis fetish with him

23 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:32 pm

Why is Andruw Jones not playing the field instead of Ibanez?? How many more bad plays will it take? No blame for Raoooooool, he's trying his best. But he can't field!!!! WAHAHAHA!

24 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:33 pm

That was a foul ball

25 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:34 pm

Just got in front on the TeeVee. How is Nuney doing in the OF?

And something good or bad for the Yanks will involve Betemit. It always does. He's the Dennis the Menace of Mr Wilsons.

26 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:35 pm

Sheeeeiiittt is right. I don't think I've come home to turn on the game this year without the Yankees losing. WTF!

27 randym77   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:35 pm

Yikes. 13 pitchers, so Nunez can play LF?

28 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:36 pm

[23] Because Himmel is right-handed.
[25] He made a good play, actually.

29 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:37 pm

That'll do

30 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:37 pm

Sweet. At least it didn't last long. Go Chavez!

31 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:37 pm

Eric Fucking Chavez. Who expected him to contribute like this?

32 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:37 pm

[21] Got any lotto picks?

33 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:39 pm

[28] Can't they sacrifice Raoooool's bat for Andruw's glove? Who cares if he Ks 4 times as long as he brings the D..

[31] Always liked Chavez. Shame about all the injuries.

34 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:40 pm

[20] That fact just sunk in for me...danger, danger.

Lots of runs needed.

35 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:45 pm

[33] Yeah, you might be right about that (Andruw's glove more important than Raul's bat). Girardi really loves platooning this year, huh?

36 randym77   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:45 pm

Nice play, Tex.

37 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:46 pm

Dear Mo. Put a tent on the circus!

38 randym77   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:46 pm

Oh, jeez. He's doing okay, but he's going to give me a heart attack.

39 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:47 pm

Nunez will need to change his underwear soon.

40 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:48 pm

Kuroda is looking pretty good now. Didn't have good command in the second, but good now.

Laptop has already coughed up a run to the .597 OPS Oakland A's.

41 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:50 pm

Oh, but Papi homered, I missed that.
Don't hate me for saying it, but I wish Cashman had made a run at Ortiz. What a freaking bat.

42 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:52 pm

[41] Outrage!
But fans would be way more upset than any of the players..these guys all pals. Imagine Robbie and Papi clowning on the bench after back to back taters..

43 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:53 pm

[41] This time last year the respective fans were hoping Jeter and Big Papi would open a B&B together in retirement bliss.

44 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:54 pm

Heh. Yeah, Rob would be pleased. And I can't imagine Jeter would object.
The fans would get over it once Papi's 1.200 OPS sunk in. Oh, and I hear he can play a little outfield...

45 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:55 pm

[43] Yeah, that's true. They could bond over that.

46 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 6:58 pm

[44] And give Girardi the chance to have an outfield of Nunez, Ibanez and Ortiz?

47 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:04 pm

Calling Chris Dickerson, Chris Dickerson. Report to the Greyhound Terminal immediately.

48 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:06 pm

[46] Awesome! An all ______z outfield! Although Victor Martinez would be better. An all ____nez outfield. Or maybe get Magglio Ordóñez to come back for an all ___ñez outfield.

49 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:15 pm

[48] Excellent!

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:25 pm

Kuroda's body language and presence much better tonight.

51 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:26 pm

[48] All those z's are making me sleepy...

52 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:31 pm

EVening, Team.

Nice hit there by Derek.

53 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:35 pm

Put it in your pocket, Curtis.

54 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:43 pm

[48] Awesome!
[51] Their Defenze adventures would keep you awake.

Kuroda looking good? Or is it the O's?

55 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:46 pm

Cano Posada'ed that running play.

56 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:46 pm

Delmon Young gets a 7 game suspension by MLB. Comes back on Friday.

57 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:47 pm

Uncool Raul.

58 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:47 pm

Btw, in case you guys didn't know, today is International Jazz Day! http://jazzday.com/ Herbie Hancock speaking live right now at that link.

I'll be tweeting out jazz classics all day for you beginners, come check it out (If you're on Twitter or FB!)

59 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:48 pm

[56] I guess he won't be lighting candles this Friday.

60 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:51 pm

He shouldn't have thrown that pitch three times in a row.

61 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:51 pm

Woo hoo my copy of Damn Yankees has shipped, supposed to arrive Thursday.

62 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:52 pm

I don't think the problem was that it spilled over to the middle of the plate too much, Kenny, I think the problem was Markakis had just seen it twice in a row and was ready for it.

63 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:52 pm

Granderson is a very good outfielder.

64 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:53 pm

At least we've got one outfielder.

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:54 pm

He's so smooth out there.

Remember how lost Damon was out there towards the end?

66 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:54 pm

rah roh...

67 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:58 pm

[58] Ah, all those ___z guys are for jaZZ day!

68 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 7:59 pm

He's out!

69 randym77   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:00 pm

I'm getting rather fond of this Kuroda fellow.

70 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:01 pm

Kuroda= baseball player!

71 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:01 pm

That was nice. And scary.

72 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:04 pm

[71] It's adventure night at the stadium.

73 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:04 pm

Kuroda blocks the plate better than Posada...

74 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:04 pm

There was play like that in my game today. Except the runner was safe because the catcher threw it over the catcher's head and the guy who had been on 2nd scored too. U.G.L.Y.

75 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:06 pm

No, do not stay with Kuroda.

No, no and no.

76 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:09 pm

So Yankee Orioles games don't have to go 4 hours?

77 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:09 pm

Shit. I've got feed-fuck now. I blame it on Kate Smith.

Kuroda should start the 8th. D-Rob can't pith unless the bases are loaded anyway.

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:09 pm

What's with the grass seed wars?

79 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:10 pm

Ooops. That should have been "pitch". Nevermind.

80 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:11 pm

David Robertson can break the scoreless innings streak?

Really, John Smoltz?

81 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:13 pm

[76] You are tempting the fates.

82 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:15 pm

Can you imagine being Mark Reynolds and the determination is made that you're a worse third baseman than Wilson Betemit?

83 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:16 pm

D-Rob.

84 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:16 pm

[31] it's all in the power of the name Eric.

85 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:17 pm

and the fucking shit sox have scored double digit runs...again. : /

86 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:17 pm

Nasty, Dave. Nasty.

87 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:18 pm

[84] Happy Jazz Day, thelarmis! Check out the UN concerts after the game!

88 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:18 pm

Damn.

What a fucking impressive inning.

Right to the glove, consistently.

89 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:18 pm

alabama hamma!

90 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:18 pm

HAMMERED.

BANG BANG BANG, bitches.

91 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:19 pm

Give unto Mo one more run, please. Collection plate coming around.

92 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:19 pm

[87] thanks man, you too! a friend texted me about a concert at the monk institute website.

no time, i'm afraid. just got done teaching and about to go grab grub. tonight's music project is going through my 2nd cd with a fine tooth comb. last minute tweaks and mastering on friday's studio session...

93 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:20 pm

Oh, man, that's right. No wonder Chavez rocks, thelarmis.
And the A's really suck. When do we get to play them?

94 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:20 pm

Robertson ☢

95 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:23 pm

96 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:23 pm

[93] memorial day weekend, in oaktown. i'll be in asheville, nc that weekend...

97 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:24 pm

[96] Oh, I know people in Asheville!

Sven.

98 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:25 pm

I dislike Showalter, but he's a good manager.

99 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:25 pm

yeah, i don't get why nunE-everyposition is in the outfield and andruw is on the bench. didn't GI Joe switch andruw to left the other day so 7-string guitar (ibanez) could play right? stronger arm should be in right...

100 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:26 pm

[97] yes, Sven is a great guy. he's going to be our personal tour guide at the Biltmore.

skol!

ooh, i wish i could watch Mo...

102 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:28 pm

:)
Broken bat.

103 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:29 pm

Seems like Mo sure is shattering a lot of bats these days, even for Mo.

104 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:29 pm

Juuuuuuust nipped him. Such a typical rap off Mo!

105 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:30 pm

[92] Oh man, looks like was a GREAT concert. Wayne Shorter was there, Herbie, Hugh Masakela, DeeDee Bridgewater Zakir Hussein..with Christian McBride holding it all down on bass all night. I'm going to watch the whole thing online tonight!

106 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:31 pm

A real hit. Un-Mo-like.
But not worried.

107 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:31 pm

Holy fuck, what a play!

Damn, boys, nicely turned!

108 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:32 pm

Hm, PR + Markakis, I admit this is not my favorite situation.

109 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:32 pm

[107] Oh, man, I am waaaaay behind, but looking forward to whatever you just commented on!

110 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:32 pm

Praise be to Mo. Good night all.

111 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:32 pm

all praise and thanks be to Mo!!!

112 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:32 pm

Man, that was pretty.
All Rise.

113 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:33 pm

[109] I come to you from the future, all will be well, my son.

114 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:33 pm

Nice game.

115 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:33 pm

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
So satisfying.

Thanks be to Mo.

116 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:33 pm

Mariano Rivera, ladies and gentlemen.
Mariano River.

118 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:36 pm

A crisp, well played game. What a crackerjack outfield the Yankees had tonight.

I hope the bats wake up tomorrow.

I fear what life will be like post-Mo.

119 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:37 pm

just saw some highlights. that was a great play by kuroda at the plate!

120 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:37 pm

[116] no, i love it. there should be a river called Mariano! perhaps in Panama.

121 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:38 pm

Good baseball play to end it, too. Nick piece of hitting by Markakis, good job fielding it cleanly by Jeter--this is why he's so solid, he doesn't muff the crucial plays that are hit at or near him--and swift and agile pivot and throw by Cano.

That makes three good games for Hiroki and two stinkers. Good for him.

122 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:39 pm

[120] Best part of the game was the eighth inning. Although the Nuñez excitement was... exciting.

123 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:40 pm

[120] According to Google, there is one in Ecuador.

Rio Mariano

124 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:41 pm

a's makin' some noise. perhaps not enough, but a grand slam here will get them in double digits and cut it to a 1-run lead.

bases loaded, 2 outs, vicente to the mound...

125 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2012 8:42 pm

[123] excellent!

126 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 30, 2012 9:01 pm

[125] The West Side Highway is now named for Joe DiMaggio. Maybe the Hudson River should be renamed the Mariano River after he retires.
