"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Seriously?

Once again, MLB’s most highly-attended annual gimmick, the Subway Serious.

I’m out and away from a machine all day so I won’t post the line-ups, but you know the routine.

Tonight gives some extra assignment as Johan Santana makes his first start since his no-hitter.

Never mind those scrappy, lovable, Mets: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Robbie!

7 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 6:40 pm

That looks like a fun bullpen to get into.

Kuroda should cruise against this Mets lineup.

Subway Series not so enticing? Quiet Banter so far..

9 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 6:57 pm

HOT DAMN, ROBBIE!

10 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 8, 2012 6:57 pm

Man, another one!

And that was all arms!

Man, he was way out in front and still!

11 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 8, 2012 6:58 pm

Cano! Can he go for 4??

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 6:59 pm

Belly to Belly. Love it! I just don't like the Mets.

13 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:00 pm

Keith Hernandez just called Cano the "best pure left-handed hitter in the game." High praise! Though what really is a "pure" hitter? My spidey-sense detects a whiff of "professional hitter" type meaning..

Wow.

This is sad.

15 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:01 pm

Save the bones!

16 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:02 pm

3 in a row!

17 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:08 pm

Meet the Mets greet the Mets, step right up, browbeat the Mets.

I agree, Weeping...kind of sad.

18 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:08 pm

Wow, Alex!

That was fucking impressive.

19 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:09 pm

Nice play Alex.

20 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:11 pm

[17] Not too sad..it's happened to better than Santana. He's still awesome for coming back the way he has.

Where's RIYank with a Sox-Strasburg update??

21 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:12 pm

Watching that bat helicopter right over ARod's head, while he just turns the play like nothing was happening, was just really cool to watch. Impressive indeed.

22 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:17 pm

[20] I can tell you the score is 3-2 through 3.

23 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:18 pm

OOPS. Nats inning.

24 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:18 pm

winning

25 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:19 pm

NHYank here... the Northern standin for RIYank.
Gonzo hits one over the BP wall... BUT NADY snags it!
Nationals still up on Sox, 3-2.

26 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:22 pm

Pretty good 1st five by Kuroda. Too bad Jeter pulled a Nune6. Rats!

27 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:24 pm

[26] Almost hope he gives up a walk.

28 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:32 pm

Bad news, Ike. That's a strike.

29 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:36 pm

Brett lays out and saves the day on that one. Oh, well. Good start nonetheless.

30 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:38 pm

Well now no need to fret about pitch count.

31 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:45 pm

sounds like the fry pan man has been reincarnated.

32 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:50 pm

I want a grand slam here.

33 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:52 pm

Jeter looked a little gimpy running to first.

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 7:52 pm

For fuck's sake. Didn't see that one coming.

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:00 pm

Holy Shit. Did that really happen! That might be it for Kuroda tonight. Hope nothing's broken.

36 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:04 pm

While it's a tiny sample size, Bryce Harper, at 19, currently has 1 .900 OPS.

Strasberg gave up 2 runs on 2 hits in the 2nd, on a 2 out 2 base hit. Hasn't given up anything else.

37 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:04 pm

Has A .900 OPS. 900... not 1900.

38 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:06 pm

Everybody gets a hit night.

39 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:08 pm

Reminds me, I need to pick up a ribeye tomorrow.

40 OldYanksFan   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:10 pm

Harper singles in a run. Now 7-2 Nats.

41 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:16 pm

There's a 2 out rbi. Huzzah!

42 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:16 pm

Creeping closer to double digits.

43 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:18 pm

Hmmm........Friday night blowout.

44 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:19 pm

[42] i'll chime in once we get there.

45 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:25 pm

91 pitches for kuroda. what happened, why isn't he still pitching?

46 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:28 pm

stras strikes out ugly with the bases clogged. 13 k's!

47 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:28 pm

[45] Chess master is playing chess!

48 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:33 pm

[47] ah, the binder! from [35], i wasn't sure if he got hurt, or something...

49 Boatzilla   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:33 pm

[47] No, apparently, for fuck's sake, he's hurt. I hope it's not bad. That's all we need.

50 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:34 pm

[45] Kuroda had a line drive blast off his foot which went straight up into the air. Alex caught it near 3rd for the last out of the 6th. Kuroda was definitely hobbled going into the dugout and that was the end of his night. Still no word on him.

51 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:37 pm

[48] Gotta hope for the best, plus the pen needs work lately.

52 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:38 pm

To repeat, I think Jeter looked a little gimpy running down to first his last time up when he grounded into the DP.

53 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:38 pm

Ah, thanks. I had to step away for a minute, didn't see. Hope it's precautionary.

54 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:45 pm

fuck. i hope hiroki is alright. jetes, for that matter, too...

55 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:45 pm

Dear new guy.
When you are up 9, throw strikes.
thanks.

56 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:46 pm

keep seeing all this santana no-no everywhere. meanwhile, it was CLEARLY a 1-hitter. extra-base hit, at that...

57 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:48 pm

Damn, there goes the shut out.

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:50 pm

A one hit shutout would have sounded nicer. Good win still. : )

59 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:50 pm

Nice win. Early too. Against this line-up Kuroda looked all world.

60 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:50 pm

feh. i wanted a shutout.

at least the combined score reached double digits! ; )

61 rbj   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:50 pm

good night all.

62 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 8:53 pm

according to lohud, x-rays on hiroki were negative.

63 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:10 pm

Hey, yo! [20] Sorry, I was at the Other Red Sox, watching Daniel Bard. He's a head case now. Hit two guys and walked one plus a single or two in one inning. They didn't send him back out for the second. I think he needs a shrink.

But I hear Bryce Harper homered twice, first time a teenager has done that since Andruw Jones...

64 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:15 pm

[63] now, that's a report worth waiting for!

bryce just homered once, as far as i can tell. he's also singled and doubled. 2 runs, 3 rbi's. strasburg struck out 13 in 6 innings!

65 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:19 pm

lidge on the ledge, gives up a run in the 9th. 7-4.

t-clip in to save it...

66 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:20 pm

it seems like the shit sox always score in the bottom of the 9th in that shitty little band box with that stoopid wall in left... : /

67 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:23 pm

Huh, maybe the person I heard it from was talking about a different game -- has Bryce double-homered in some other game?

68 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:23 pm

my little thumb flies out to center.

2 outs.

69 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:25 pm

Nats hold 'em off, huh?

I'm looking forward to watching the Yankees play these guys.

70 RIYank   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:25 pm

[68] Did you see it? He let out My Little F-bomb.

71 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:26 pm

game ovah!

i don't think he homered twice in once game, but am not positive... soriano hit his 10th tonight. andruw has a lot of homeruns now. lotsa gold gloves too...

smoltz had his # retired at The Ted tonite. i'll be there Monday...to see our Yankees!!!

72 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:28 pm

[70] did not. in kitchen, listening to braves on radio.

hope to see andy pitch on sunday. wish i could catch him live, but i'm going to the game monday (aforementioned) and the following mon or tues (in nyc!)...

my virgin ears would not have appreciated his choice of word...

73 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:35 pm

wow, tigers lost again. this time to the reds in 10. cokey gave it up...

74 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:38 pm

[67] Bryce and another National rookie hit back to back homers the other night. That was a rare feat. Maybe that was it.

75 thelarmis   ~  Jun 8, 2012 9:46 pm

soriano just crushed an upper deck shot at target field. his 2nd of the game, 351st of his career.

tied chili davis first, now tied with dick allen.

sori's dh'ing tonite, a good position for him. i still love him, but i really didn't appreciate the major hot-dogging after the no-doubt homer...
