I Can See Clearly Now…

I had a friend over for dinner last night and we watched the game, rooted for the Yanks, and were happy when they beat the Red Sox, 6-4. But we talked and talked so the details of the game evaporated once it was over. I remember cursing Phil Hughes for giving us flashbacks of Clay Rapada’s botched 1-6-3 double play earlier this season, and then cursing some more when Hughes served up a meatball to Dustin Pedrioa.

Then there was fist pumps and “Oh Yeahs” for the five solo home runs hit by the Yanks, including the 250th homer of Derek Jeter’s career. Also, a long, impressive at bat by Curtis Granderson that resulted in a line drive single, and a “Fuck Yes” for the bloop base hit Jason Nix hit on an 0-2 pitch to put the Yanks ahead for good. Smiles all around when Pedrioa hit one to the wall in the eighth, and hopped in the air as he rounded first in frustration.

I don’t remember much just that the outcome was good.

Yes. It was a game of fun parts, but not a fun game.

At Pete Abe's place, you get the feel of RSN now. They are resigned. They are hoping not to be swept. Very few fans are thinking, "We just need good outings from Lester and Beckett and we can still take this series."

I also like Pete's Ortiz story. The Red Sox need their players to be more like that.

I was afraid after the Red Sox took 2 of 3 in the Boogie-Down that they were going to go on a run. A run similar to what Bill Mueller's HR against Mo back in July 2004 helped fuel, the momentum they started to generate after that and the eventual WS title. Color me stupid for believing this team had that kind of ability to overcome the adversity they've had this season.

I'm glad that this RS team just sucks. I love how dysfunctional they are, I love all the infighting, I love their 4 game under .500 record. I read some of their fan blogs and I'm amazed at how so many defend the players, go off on the MSM for being, well, too mean and not positive enough. Suck it RS Nation!!!
