Philthy needs to grow that 'stache out ... and apply for a role on Boardwalk Empire!

2 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:13 pm

That was good, Phil. Keep it up.

3 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:14 pm

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuughes!

4 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:14 pm

[1] That would give a whole new meaning to 'Philthy'.

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:14 pm

Phil made Bautista look absolutely phoolish on that breaking ball. Nice.

6 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:25 pm

Actually getting to watch the game! For a little while, at least...

Phil lookin' good, thus far!

Good job, Overbay.

7 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:26 pm

nice pitch, phil!

8 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:26 pm

Huuuuuughes!

9 rbj   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:26 pm

Sweet.

10 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:32 pm

Boooooooooooesch!

11 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:32 pm

Boesch-y!!!

12 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:32 pm

Not bad, kid.

13 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:33 pm

do you guys get the YES or TBS feed?

what's sterling's call for boesch? (scared to ask...)

14 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:34 pm

[13] Dude, Sterling is not on YES, you hoid?

I'll listen to the WCBS highlights later and inform Banterers what the call for BB is.

15 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:38 pm

[14] yes, i know that. was just curious...

thanks in advance. i'll check back later...

16 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:41 pm

Apparently it's "BB hits a BB! That's Boesch By Gosh"

17 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:47 pm

oh yeah, i heard about the "bb hits a bb". they're both pretty lame, as to be expected, especially the 2nd half of it...

18 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:48 pm

Energy Boy. Hm.

Very nice, Phil.

19 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:50 pm

So, yeah, I predicted the Celtics would salvage this game. Looks like they will. I might watch the fourth quarter anyway.

20 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:52 pm

Wow, Michael Kay actually said something informative!

(Passing along Joe Girardi's explanation of why Cervelli had his bare hand out on that pitch, the one that broke his hand.)

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:53 pm

[16] That just reminds me of OshKosh B'gosh.

22 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:54 pm

[20] was it something about a 2-strike count and a runner on first?

[21] exactly what I thought. would be better if he included that.

23 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:58 pm

Siddown, Bautista, ya' bum.

24 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:58 pm

Huuuuuughes!!!!!!

25 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:58 pm

[22] Two strike count. (I think there was nobody on base.) If the third strike swinging hits the ground, it's much easier for the catcher to get after it if his hand is out. If his hand is behind his back his balance is wrong.

26 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:59 pm

bollocks.

27 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 12:59 pm

Sheesh.

28 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:00 pm

more bollocks.

29 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:00 pm

Not good.
We need the bases empty, because you know one of these monsters is gonna take Phil deep...

30 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:03 pm

jesus christ.

31 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:03 pm

Dang. Not one ball hit hard.

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:03 pm

3 horseshit hit in a row. Lame.

33 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:04 pm

[29] exactly what i was thinking.

ron darling, too... (he was talking about phil's penchant for the longball...)

34 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:04 pm

Okay.
Now, runners for our team, please. Some walks would be good.

35 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:10 pm

Is Kawasaki old enough to play in the bigs? He looks 12.

36 rbj   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:19 pm

Another cheapie.

37 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:38 pm

Huuuuuuughes!!!!!!!

38 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:38 pm

Oops.

Huuuuuuuughes!!!!!!!!!!

39 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:39 pm

Oh, fuck.
So, Boesch is not exactly a Gold Glove, huh?

40 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:41 pm

Well, that's what I get for being behind in the broadcast ...

41 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:42 pm

Okay.
Not bad, Philip.

42 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:45 pm

Walks, I want walks now.
No, not that. Walks.

43 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:54 pm

Uh, WTF is Adam Warren doing warming up in a 1-2 game ... when he hasn't pitched since the last Ice Age?!?!?!?

44 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:56 pm

Nuñe5!

45 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:57 pm

Whoops, 6 rather than 5. I meant.

Did anyone say why Gardner isn't playing? Can't hit the knuckler? Or what?

46 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 1:59 pm

Boooooooone!

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:00 pm

Booooooooooooooooooooooone!

48 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:01 pm

[45] Rest. Only player in basebaal to have played every inning in every game so far ...

49 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:09 pm

Yay! Awesome.

50 rbj   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:09 pm

Overthewallbay!

51 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:09 pm

(Cult, I hope you see the play before you see my comment.)

52 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:10 pm

[49] Heh ... had a feeling something like that was coming ... what with the delay and all!!!

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

53 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:11 pm

[51] Nope, but all in all, I'll take it!!!

54 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:17 pm

Nails.

55 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:19 pm

Damn, the Knicks are closing fast. Down 19 at the half, but they've cut the lead to five...

56 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:25 pm

Good eye, Rob!

And the Knicks have tied the game, wow.

57 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:32 pm

Clearly Ben Francisco should have been in there

58 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:36 pm

That's two.

59 thelarmis   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:38 pm

Fuck. We're out to lunch and I'm missing Mo : (

60 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:38 pm

Even though they didn't really hit him, beating royal pompous ass R.A. Dickey is nice.

61 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:39 pm

Thanks be to Mo.

62 rbj   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:39 pm

Vintage.

63 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:39 pm

And 90 seconds of hoops left, game is tied!

64 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:40 pm

Kincks take the lead with 1:18 to go.

65 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:40 pm

Praise Mo!

66 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:41 pm

Um, yeah, the Kinks take the lead On a Sunny Afternoon. That's what I meant to say!

67 RIYank   ~  Apr 28, 2013 2:46 pm

Why on earth did the Knicks run down the clock and take a horrible shot, thus giving the Celtics the last shot of regulation? Incredibly stupid.
NBA teams in general have no idea how to manage the clock at the end of the game, none at all.
