Afternoon game? Crud. I'll get home just in time to see the last out.

2 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2013 12:20 pm

I know, I forgot to set the DVR...

3 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 12:39 pm

Watching on my computer at the office! (The work I have to do is not intellectually taxing.)

4 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 12:44 pm

Gritner!!!!!

5 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2013 12:49 pm

Hey a Score Truck sighting.

6 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2013 12:52 pm

Looks like I'm missing a good game.

7 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 12:56 pm

Wow, that was some inning for CC.

He did get a little help from the ump.

8 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 12:57 pm

well, this is very nice to see! didn't even realize there was a day game here on getaway day...

9 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:00 pm

I'll say the same thing I said last time we saw the Indians.

They just don't have the pitching to be any kind of contender.

10 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:10 pm

Another easy half inning.

11 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:16 pm

Love that Buick Roadmaster photo; I think it's a '57. Have a minute to watch. CC running the Indian's line-up through a cheese grater. And how about that power-hitter Brett Gardner? Nice to keep getting right against Cleveland.

And Alex, thanks for your kind words stated in the earlier post.

12 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:22 pm

Oh, man.
Jeez.

13 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:23 pm

For those of you not watching, a very dinky, cheap hit to end the perfecto bid.

If Wells had got a half decent jump, or if the OF had been Ichiro or Gritner, it would still be blanks.

14 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:27 pm

ah, bollocks on the no-no...

15 garydsimms   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:34 pm

Been watching in the office too. Not sure whether it's better to watch and bear Kaye, or listen and stand Stirling. Maybe I'll just switch to the CLE audio feed.

16 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:37 pm

i've been watching the braves game. joe simpson is fine, but chip "fister" caray is beyond brutal. i'm gonna switch to the radio soon for some don sutton (who is pretty good).

17 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:41 pm

shutout gone.

shut 'em down here, very large man.

18 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 1:58 pm

Hm, well, we do have an incompetent OF out there, only it isn't Overbay.

19 monkeypants   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:01 pm

[18] Not watching but looking over the comments, am I to understand that Wells is showing off his ful range of incompetence today?

20 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:02 pm

Uh oh.
So, this is not exactly a laugher anymore.

21 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:02 pm

Uh Oh

22 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:02 pm

[19] Two soft flies dropped in front of him, in both cases mainly because he didn't start in right away.

23 monkeypants   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:07 pm

[22] And adding that to another 0-fer at the plate...

24 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:13 pm

CC - what happened, dude?!

25 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:13 pm

oh, vernon wells happened. i see now.

26 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:14 pm

did gritner just bunt the runner over? i hate that. dude has a hit and a homer today. swing the fucking bat.

27 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:15 pm

[23] But he's making Brett look so good. And he makes Lyle feel better, too.

28 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:16 pm

[26] Yes, pretty clearly ordered to. He had some decent chance of beating it out, and the one run is very valuable here (compared to any more runs they might get), so it's not terrible.

29 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:19 pm

I think Leiter just basically said that if he were pitching, he would walk Pronk. (Not in so many words.)

30 monkeypants   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:19 pm

[27] He's certainly making *me* feel better about Overbay, by comparison.

31 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:21 pm

[30] Hm.
But are you left-handed? (Not sure why it matters, but it always seems to.)

32 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:22 pm

Big spot for Vernon here.

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:22 pm

Oh, snap. A game.

34 garydsimms   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:25 pm

[32] - get rid of wells, keep overbay

35 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:26 pm

Fudge.

36 garydsimms   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:26 pm

leave the bases loaded with 3 w. Thanks vern.

37 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:28 pm

[36] Also thanks Joe -- having Brett sacrifice gave the Indians a much-needed out.

38 monkeypants   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:29 pm

[36] The Wells signing is what finally broke me this spring. It pushed over the edge into "not following closely" mode, though I will admit to checking in from time to time to see how poorly he's doing.

39 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:29 pm

I guess D-Rob will close?
Or CC.

40 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:31 pm

Damn, the fat man is still sizzling.

41 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:34 pm

Little bit scary, but good result! (That last out was hit well, but Brett ran it down in the gap.)

42 Alex Belth   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:34 pm

Got to love CC coming back and throwing that good 8th inning.

43 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:39 pm

[42] Then I think you're really going to love the ninth...

44 RIYank   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:42 pm

Hm, it sounded like CC was going to start the ninth. But now Kay and Leiter are talking about Preston.

45 garydsimms   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:44 pm

Stewart swings like he should have on #19.

46 garydsimms   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:46 pm

Let's go, big guy!

47 garydsimms   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:52 pm

CC is THE MAN.

48 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:53 pm

Good win. Thorough sweep of a very overrated team, and CC was much better than his line. Fine day

49 thelarmis   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:53 pm

awesome!

50 RagingTartabull   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:55 pm

and all is right in YankeeLand...for 24 hours at least

51 rbj   ~  Jun 5, 2013 2:59 pm

Sweet sweep. Big man stood tall today.
