At this point, they could have Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, Dimaggio, Berra Reynolds and Ford return and not make the playoffs. Does anyone really expect that a 39 year old shortstop who has limited range and hasn't faced a major league pitcher in 9 months is going to juice a lineup that has the worst batting average in the AL? Nostalgic, maybe, game changing? Not a chance.

Watching him rap out a hit sometime soon will be sweet. Time to check the leaderboards and see who he might pass this year.

[1] Not to pile on, but I'm curious, how did Allie Reynolds sneak into your pantheon of Yankee greats coming back from near-death (or actual death) to not save the 2013 Yankees?

here's hoping Jeter doesn't trip over an ARod headline and reinjure his ankle, you know, because it's always *that guy's* fault.
