Summer Wind

georgecu

Who needs one-run games when you can win by six? That’s just what the Yanks did yesterday afternoon putting a 9-3 beatin’ on the Orioles. Tanaka pitched well and the Yanks leave town heppy kets.

I've been singing "Summer Wind" in my head a lot lately. I think it was used in an All-Star commercial on the MLB Network. I always enjoyed playing brushes on that tune, backing up a singer.

[1] You mean the Chairman of the Board? I LOVE that song. Must be difficult to drum for.

It's more of a late August song to me, for some reason. I guess because it's kinda melancholy.

Now I wanna hear it…..

[2] Those types of standards are actually quite easy to play. Simple swing with brushes on the snare when the vocalist is singing, then simple comping with sticks underneath the soloist. It's usually at a medium tempo and fun to play.
