Why Can’t Be Friends?

IMG_5826

I’ve got a friend who cannot stand Mark Teixeira—who seems like a benign guy to hate but the more I think of it, I can see it. Sort of like hating a guy like Raffey Palmerio. Not really hatable but irritating enough to turn into something disagreeable. Especially if he is not on your team. Well, Tex got under the Mets’s skin last night, particularly reliever Hansel Robles, who appeared to psyche himself out believing Tex was psyching him out.

Oh, well. Yanks won, 9-4 in a game that certainly more painful for the Mets to lose than it was for the Yanks to win.

We’ll take it.

War?

I know I'm clueless in Japan, but I'm not getting the missing "we." Is this a new meme I missed?

Funny game. That half inning was hilarious.

Yes, we will take it, but I wish they would let A-Rod bat.
Call me crazy, but right now, I'd rather watch him strike out 3 times and walk than have the Yankees win.

Yeah, I'd like to see s'more abs for Alex too.

If someone is passing out abs, count me in. I'll take some delts and pecs too.

I think Alex will play tonight. He really has had great success against "Fatso". If he can't hit him then??

I'd rather see less A-rod myself. I'm happy to see him so little actually. I thought it was fun last night watching Hicks and Sanchez and what not. But, was Sanchez chewing tobacco? Please make him stop...

I have to confess to never liking ARod on the Yanks. Or Clemens for that matter. I prefer to respect and hate a guy on an opposing team and have them stay there. This is not to say that once they join the team that I don't root for them. Just imagine if Pedro had joined the Yanks after Beantown? or Manny Ramirez, who would likely have had a resurgence of bombs in the Bronx as he always hit well in that park.

It isn't just that I love the home grown Yanks and Core four guys, but there is obviously an interest of seeing someone come up and make that jump to Superstardom. It is sad that nowadays in most major sports that players go from team to team and if they have a great career, have to debate which cap to wear into the HOF.

My hope is that this selloff produces a few more Yankee greats, and the team tries to augment the roster with some proven free agent veterans but stays away from mega-contracts for a few huge stars. I think we are close to a post-steroid/amphetamine era, where guys just aren't able to go out and put up huge numbers and avoid injury for 15 plus years anymore. Most of the really great moves the Yanks made were for complimentary pieces like Justice (on his decline), Brosius, Wells etc.

As for ARod. I don't hate the guy and think he should have a victory lap and a pleasant send off. The Yanks should figure out a way to honor his career despite the unpleasantness of a few years ago. It won't be the sendoff for Jeter or Mo, but he deserves something nonetheless. His time with the Yanks is nearly done, and the handwriting is on the wall for a 41 year old DH, hitting a little over 200 with 10 HRs.

I don't imagine that we will see CC, Tex or ARod at Yankee stadium after this year except for oldtimer's games and possibly a celebration for the 09 team in 2019, 2029 etc.

The Yanks are charting a new course and I hope it is different from the Big Stein's plans of old. With the salary cap, more wild cards, limits on bonuses for international drafts, and parity, the old way of doing business isn't going to work anymore.

Let's celebrate the achievements of the old and welcome in the new.

I don't like A-Rod either, but I like watching him play. I would like to see him bat, chase 700, that kind of thing.

7) Imagine if Babe Ruth wasn't a Yankee or Reggie or Catfish or Sparky Lyle or Ricky Henderson or...just saying, some pretty hated rivals became good Yankees too. Which isn't to say Alex was one of them—though he's probably the best 3B in team history.

LOL

[8] Well, he was pretty good for a while... except in most playoff situations. Gotta say this for him though, it seems like hardly anyone loved the idea of playing baseball more than him. Maybe still does, but it's more of an idea than ever now.

Of course, you can insert "A-Rod" for "playing baseball" and it would still make sense.
