Happy Baseball one and all!

2 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:05 pm

God I missed baseball

3 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:05 pm

Indeed!

Welcome back, everybody!

Even Sutcliffe in the booth can't ruin the excitement.

LET'S PLAY BALL!

4 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:06 pm

Michael Kay is already on my nerves. That said, I am so excited for this season. A Gravy year. Greg Bird is my favorite but I like a lot of the guys. Matt Holliday looks hilarious as a Yankee—love it!

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:09 pm

Who-hoo! Happy Opening Day, gang!

6 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:12 pm

Taco Bellsbury batting 5th?

O.o?

7 BobbyB   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:15 pm

Missed you guys. A young team (relative to the past decade). Maybe that's what (clueless) Joe needed. Let's go Yankees!

8 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:21 pm

Hmm, challenge?

9 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:22 pm

Boo!

10 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:22 pm

Matt looks like Channing Tatum's older brother

11 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:22 pm

He was safe, good to see Blue off to a good start this season ...

12 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:23 pm

10) except they are the same age.

13 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:24 pm

Chris Archer looks like Snoop's (from The Wire) younger brother.

14 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:25 pm

Its almost a comforting to see the first appalling replay fail of the year.

15 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:27 pm

This is not good.

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:28 pm

Well, that's a sub-optimal beginning!

17 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:32 pm

Grrrr.

18 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:32 pm

Ugh

19 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:36 pm

Sigh.

20 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:37 pm

Worser and worserer

21 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:39 pm

At this point last year the Yankees would already be beat. Lets see how this team reacts

22 51cq24   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:44 pm

my two favorite things about the yankees, ellsbury and michael kay saying "fifth"

23 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:47 pm

Anyone eating anything good? I was going to make hot dogs but then didn't want to have a whole package of hot dogs in the house so I had the guy at the meat counter at Fairway grind me up a couple of extra fatty burgers. Bought some potato buns. Got some sweet potato fries in the oven and gonna make a burger. All as an excuse to eat some of the Hatch green chilies I just got from New Mexico.

24 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:48 pm

13) Holy crap, that is a GREAT call. lol

25 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:51 pm

Hi all!
I'm late. And it looks like I missed a Tanaka Meltdown?

26 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:52 pm

Verdict!

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:52 pm

Atta boy, kid.

28 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:53 pm

More of this Judge in 2017 please.

29 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:53 pm

[23] got a steak for later. Also cook a 4 oz. one for the hounds

30 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:54 pm

[25] Sort of. Bird misplayed a ball that kind of exacerbated it

31 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:54 pm

Make that steak a RIBEYE, rbj!

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:54 pm

I am super bummed that Didi is out for awhile.

33 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:54 pm

[23] Potato chips and clam dip

34 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:55 pm

Paella for my house, by the way. Not exactly traditional baseball fare, I know. And made with quahogs instead of mussels, kind of weird. RI Paella.

35 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:56 pm

[31] it is

36 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 12:59 pm

Ah, a rbi steak for rbj, excellent.

37 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:06 pm

Oy.

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:06 pm

Motherfucker!

39 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:06 pm

Dammit

40 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:06 pm

Ugh

41 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:12 pm

29) Steak for everyone!

42 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:21 pm

This is not good

43 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:21 pm

[41] Red meat for all Tampa Rays, anyway.

44 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:24 pm

Lame. Fucking lame!

45 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:24 pm

I can deal with a loss. I'm not sure I have the energy to watch Joe play stupid matchups for five innings though.

46 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:24 pm

Of course. Nothing going right today. Better to get all the fuck ups out of the y in one game

47 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:25 pm

My wife is making Gumbo for dinner.

48 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:36 pm

Hmmm. This is no bueno. Just tuning in. First thing I heard was Tanaka being pulled. Guess this'll be the first time we lose 6 opening days in a row...

Not easy for me type here on my iPhone 4S! Can't log in on my computer for security reasons at this website...

Hi, everyone : )

49 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:38 pm

My wife loves sweet potato fries. I used to eat potato bread. Haven't had red meet in 25+ years! Opening Day meal here will most likely be Cheerios with skim milk!

50 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:39 pm

At least we have an of day tomorrow...

51 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:39 pm

What's an of day???

52 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:40 pm

I would rather have a with day. Get with it, drummer.

53 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:41 pm

The trop is a friggin' dump. Instead of blowing it up they put down new turf. Yippee.

54 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:43 pm

Sweet potato fries are great. As is cauliflower rice

55 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:48 pm

I'm pretty sure Logan Morrison is wearing a toupee

56 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:49 pm

Stealing successfully on Gary? Yeah, today is not our day...

57 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:52 pm

RI - I can't log onto the Banter from my computer for security reasons. It's tough to type comments on my old, small iPhone. Not my fault!

Well, I think I'm still drunk so...

58 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:58 pm

Wow, you are a very insecure person then.
Anyway, how's things going? Hey, how is I85???

59 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 1:59 pm

At least we had a good spring training...

60 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:03 pm

Yes, the website log-on goes a long way in determining my makeup. I guess I don't have enough fire - or red meat - in my belly.

85N is a wreck. My old studio was *right* there, and I live close by. I'm on that stretch of highway everyday and need if for work. It's way worse than sun optimal and could be 6 MONTHS 'til/till it's fixed...

61 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:06 pm

hey, a 1, 2, 3 inning.

62 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:15 pm

Damn. But, nobody hurt, so that's something.

63 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:24 pm

Huh. Will ya look at that.

64 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:24 pm

Good bunt, Headley.

65 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:24 pm

Shift that, beaches.

66 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:30 pm

rats

67 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:32 pm

54) Cauliflower rice, yes.

C'mon, Kid Gary.

68 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:34 pm

So close...

69 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:35 pm

Damn, just foul.

70 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:36 pm

Shit

71 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:37 pm

Damn.

72 51cq24   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:38 pm

yankees are 17-10 on opening day in series winning years

73 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:38 pm

That was worse than cauliflower rice.

74 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 2, 2017 2:46 pm

[72] Well, here's hoping for 17-11 at least...

75 51cq24   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:03 pm

amazingly they went 27-0 in the final games of those years

76 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:07 pm

In 1998 they started 0-3. First year I got the Extra Innings package. Figured I had wasted my money. But it turned out o.k.

77 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:15 pm

Koz was supposed to be good with the glove...

78 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:18 pm

The shift is crap for the Rays today. I predict it's hit its peak and will start to die down, all the smart-ass shifting.

79 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:24 pm

Bases loaded, no outs? Can't wait to see how the Yankees don't score here.

80 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:25 pm

Oh, we'll score. Prolly lose 7-5...

81 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:27 pm

Here we go with the all time rally.

82 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:29 pm

A run! Why slide? Seriously. Coast home, Chase.

83 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:31 pm

Gary with an 0-5.

84 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:31 pm

Sigh.
Might Gary has struck out.

85 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:33 pm

Might Gary? Mite Gary?

Are you typing on an old iPhone?

86 RIYank   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:33 pm

Aaaaaaand that'll do it.

87 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:34 pm

Le sigh

88 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:34 pm

Drag. Oh, well. Gonna be a long year, we all know that. But nice watching the game with you guys all the same!

89 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:34 pm

Oh well, steak time. At least baseball is back.

90 thelarmis   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:35 pm

We have a losing record.

NunE5 just stole a base off Grienke

91 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 2, 2017 3:50 pm

Yeah, 1998 kinda caught everyone off guard, huh? Well, if they survive April unscathed and they still suck, I'd say they need another season to get their stamina up. Chalk it up to opening day jitters for the youngsters and a little lack of focus. Let's see where they are in two weeks.

92 rbj   ~  Apr 2, 2017 4:58 pm

Aw Bumgardner loses the perfecto one it in the sixth.

93 seamus   ~  Apr 2, 2017 5:15 pm

The worst part about an opening day loss is you have to wait two days for any chance of a rebound. Just finished watching on delay. I followed along here so I was with yinz in spirit. Bummer game. I'm ready for more and better!

94 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 3, 2017 12:15 am

[13] Hilarious. I loved Snoop. She's easily my favorite psychopath since Travis Bickle.

So, thuuuuuuu YANKeees SUCK!
Tanaka's washed-up.
Sanchise is on the wrong page. [sigh]
Good thing we play 162.
