"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

It’s a Soup-Is-Good-Food Kind of Night

Bags Downtown Street

Kudos, props, and all that good stuff goes out to anybody at the Stadium tonight. It is a raw, spring night. Cold and a little wet. Courage, that’s what it takes, fortitude, to sitting in the stands tonight. Something I lack. But I’ll be watching the Yanks and White Sox back from the comforts of my living room.

Never mind catching cold:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

That's the bomb we’ve been waiting for. Goodness. Gracious. Holy Cow.

11 rbj   ~  Apr 19, 2017 7:39 pm

Holy shit, Judge!

12 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2017 7:40 pm

Missed it! The Judge has spoken?

13 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 19, 2017 7:41 pm

Man, what a bomb.

14 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 19, 2017 7:41 pm

12) Dude, he just delivered a life sentence. That was a blast. Off a breaking ball too.

15 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 7:42 pm

Damn, he threw the book at that pitch.
Sentenced.

16 rbj   ~  Apr 19, 2017 7:42 pm

They'll replay over and over

449 feet

19 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:15 pm

When was the last time it was this much fun to be a Yankee fan???

20 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:19 pm

[19] 2013? I loved those 10 games that had Travis Hafner and Kevin Youkilis in the lineup together.

21 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:21 pm

Oh, uh, yeah. That was awesome. What Yankee fan doesn't love Youk?

22 rbj   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:22 pm

I'd go back to 1996, with another group of young kids being phenomenal

23 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:26 pm

[21] Wasn't there even one game with Youk, Pronk AND Vernon Wells all in the lineup?? Love me some washed up vets on high salaries!

24 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:27 pm

Uh oh.
Why is Castro out of the game? Just rest in a blow-out, I hope?

25 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:28 pm

[23] Otherwise known as 'The Way Of The Knicks'.
[24] Just a breather?

26 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:29 pm

Oh! Maybe that's why! Joe just had a feelin'

Now we want double-digits.

27 rbj   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:29 pm

Hicks joins the party.
Next up, double digits

28 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:31 pm

That's good. To become a really valuable player, Judge has to walk more.

29 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:34 pm

[28] Have to think they will start pitching around him a bit now as well.

30 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:36 pm

Doesn't look like there's any problem with Castro.

31 rbj   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:37 pm

[29] need Sanchez back, so he can hit two run jacks. Pick yer poison

32 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:38 pm

[29] Until Sanchez gets back and hits behind him!

Right. And I'm thinking of him as a Giambi type. Not many singles, but a ton of power and a bunch of walks to add up to a good OBP even with a low BA.

33 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:39 pm

Oooh, great minds thinking alike.

Maybe Aaron hitting behind Gary. The Sheriff, then the Judge. Law and order, but with due process.

34 thelarmis   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:43 pm

No double digits for me on this night... ; )

35 rbj   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:48 pm

Just looked at the schedule, Yankees off tomorrow, fine, Tiggers and Indians have day games, Mud Hens the same. Blech, no baseball tomorrow evening.

36 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:51 pm

Ballgame over, Yankees win!

[35] Watch the Red Sox game!

37 rbj   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:51 pm

Sweet, night all

38 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 19, 2017 8:52 pm

[36] How long can Mookie go without K-ing?

39 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 9:13 pm

[38] Oh, yeah, I dunno. That's not the kind of streak I like -- I mean, I don't hope one of our guys goes on a streak like that.
It's made him a worse hitter. Seriously.

40 RIYank   ~  Apr 19, 2017 9:24 pm

Hey, we're going to miss Chris Sale at Fenway. He's scheduled to pitch tomorrow in Toronto. That's a break.
Let's put some dents in the Monstah this weekend! See youse then.

41 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 19, 2017 9:25 pm

Slept through most of this one. So happy that Tanaka's back. Whew.

When's the last time we had more than 3 tape-measure homers in an entire season. See's like every other day. This is fun, fun, fun!

FYI, Castro was taken out because Clueless Joe had to find a way to get Kozma into the game. ;>)

Question: who is the Mother of all Bombers?

Night all.

42 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 19, 2017 11:32 pm

Now I'm more than glad I went to the game last week. When Judge gets one in the air, the question usually stems from how far back it will land. There's hardly any doubt.

I just think Girardi has a thing for limited utility infielders; when Torreyes turned out to be beyond that scope, he had to get someone else to provide true balance. (Btw, my phone autocorrected Girardi as "agitation", I wonder why... >;)

43 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 20, 2017 3:10 am

[42] :>))

Maybe Judge will finally get Kay to stop saying "track, wall...". The track is never even in the picture.

44 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 20, 2017 10:59 am

He might as well not say "C'ya" either, because they don't look like they're ever coming back.
