C.C. and The Battling Bombers

Empire State Building Screen Bags

Yeah, my bad on not recapping two nights ago, which featured an absolute bomb—his first true blast—by Aaron Judge. Even more encouraging was the 1-2 breaking ball he lined into right field.

Anyhow, it was more good things as the Yanks beat the White Sox, 9-1.

After a day off they are in Pittsburgh for the weekend. Old friends—Cervelli, Nova—await.

C.C. goes tonight.

Never mind the Gorgeous skyline view:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

I want to see Judge take one to the river

2 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:20 pm

Boo, blue. Low pitch

3 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:23 pm

Oy. Could be a long night.

4 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:29 pm

Argh.

5 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:37 pm

Yeah, a hit, not an error.

Strike our CC

6 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:38 pm

Pop up is good too.

7 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:41 pm

Congrats, kid

8 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:42 pm

Crap, CC getting hammered

9 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:45 pm

So, what else is going on tonight?

10 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 6:55 pm

Headley comes through

11 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:02 pm

Okay, now it's getting interesting.

12 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:05 pm

Less interesting.

13 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:06 pm

Wow, almost.
But foul.

14 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:07 pm

Bah.

15 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:07 pm

Sigh

16 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:16 pm

The Yanks will come back in this one...

17 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:30 pm

That stadium really is gorgeous.
Totally agree with Kay here, pitchers batting is pointless..

[17] went with my family last year, a really great fan experience. We had a blast on our visit to the "'Burgh". The city is booming, an incredible restaurant scene, beautiful repurposed old architecture, nice people with local pride, and a world class museum dedicated to favorite son Warhol.

19 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:47 pm

Base hit for Bird!

20 RIYank   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:51 pm

Or an error.
I accept it.

21 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:54 pm

I'd give a hit and error

22 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:54 pm

Bird should've got a hit on that one, it looked like he would have been safe at first even if the play was clean. One RBI too.

23 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 7:56 pm

Yeah, I'm thinking you don't want to collide with Judge

24 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 21, 2017 8:15 pm

Still have a soft spot for Cervelli.

25 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 8:22 pm

[24] Yeah. Don't even hold Biogenisis against him.

26 rbj   ~  Apr 21, 2017 8:40 pm

Oy

27 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 21, 2017 9:01 pm

[25] Arod led him astray.

28 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 21, 2017 9:26 pm

Boo

29 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 3:10 pm

Ok, new day, new game.

30 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 3:39 pm

Strikeout, Pineda.

31 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 3:40 pm

Thank you.

32 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 3:42 pm

I can't watch this weekend. Too poor for tickets and blacked out because I'm in pittsburgh.

33 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:00 pm

Looks like the team forgot to pack the offense for this trip

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:01 pm

If this series was any other weekend I would have gone to a game. Alas, I was in Zelionople for Easter last weekend.

35 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:08 pm

Crap

36 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:18 pm

37 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:20 pm

38 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:28 pm

Oy vey

39 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:29 pm

40 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:32 pm

41 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:34 pm

44 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:41 pm

45 BobbyB   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:42 pm

Big time Castro!

46 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:48 pm

That's a foul thing, hitting Bird.

47 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:51 pm

Toe!

48 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:51 pm

nice!

49 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:53 pm

I don't remember things like this happening last year.
We'd get down 3-0, and that would be pretty much it. Sometimes scrape out a run in the eighth or something.

50 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 22, 2017 4:54 pm

Ronald the ribeye machine.

51 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:08 pm

Not good

52 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:16 pm

53 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:17 pm

Goddam it!
Fuck.

54 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:31 pm

55 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:39 pm

56 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:45 pm

57 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:48 pm

58 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:48 pm

WTF? It's the CF's ball

59 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:53 pm

[58] what happened?

60 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:53 pm

Nice WP

61 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:54 pm

[59] Ellsbury hit a fly to left center, Andrew had to pull up or run into the LFer and dropped the ball. Jacoby wound up on third.

62 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:55 pm

[61] ah i see. Thanks

63 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:56 pm

Double digits!

64 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 5:59 pm

65 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:08 pm

I'm pretty sure this stuff didn't happen last year.

66 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:09 pm

Judge joins the party. Dayum

67 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:09 pm

THE JUDGE! Was that a big blast?

68 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:09 pm

Damn.
I like baseball.

69 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:10 pm

[67] Enormous. Waaaaaay past the 410 sign. Michael is guessing 460.

70 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:10 pm

Yep, 457 feet. Holy shit.
Seriously.

71 seamus   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:13 pm

72 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:20 pm

One down

73 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:22 pm

Two down

74 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:23 pm

I stopped watching for a couple minutes -- did they have anything to say about why Chapman is pitching with a six run lead???

75 rbj   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:25 pm

Chapman hasn't pitched in a week.

Three down

76 RIYank   ~  Apr 22, 2017 6:28 pm

Oh, okay. Jeez, I'd forgotten that.
