How did Crash Davis put it? Well, fuck this fucking game. Think that’s how it went. Certainly what came to mind last night when the A’s rally for 4 runs late to beat the Yanks, 4-1 on a night when Masahiro Tanaka was terrific. The game was close but also strangely boring because all anyone with a stick did was swing and miss at the ball.
First time all year I got agitated by a loss.
Guess that means I still care. Ha!
Back at it this afternoon on an overcast day in the BX.
Never mind the hangover:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!

How about scoring some runs
Baserunners!
Nervous?
I'll take that
Hi all.
Uh, hi rbj, I mean.
So we have one run on zero hits, huh?
Wow.
Wow! What a friggin canon.
Damn. Five strikeouts in two innings, and the other out a CS.
Dayum
[5] Crazy, ain't it
Sabs with another strike em out and now at a manageable pitch count.
Remember his first couple games this season? I was pretty sure CC was cooked, that he would have to retire before the end of the season. But he's Pettittized his game nicely.
Jim Bunning passed away.
I will accept it if Cotton no-hits us and we win.
Wasn't it Ron Davis who no hit a team and lost 4-0?
[12] alternatively, calls into question tanaka's success yesterday. but let's hope not.
52 pitches for 52. 4 scoreless.
How bout a hit, fellas?
Andy Hawkins?
[18] Sounds right
Man, when Michael and Paulie get going, sometimes they're just cringeworthy clueless.
Nice hook, cc
Yeah, I was just thinkin how Michael and Paulie are pretty terrible in the booth.
[20] "and no one ever talks about it" (i alone have noticed an increase in strikeouts/we should figure out what the hell is going on)
Alright, how bout one of them hit thingies.
Have one on me and today, gang. I hit Mo and Jackie's jersey # today. Ugh. I will watch the end of this game and then head out to see the AAA Red Wings tonight. Go Yankees!
[25] Have a happy one. That one is way in the rear view mirror for me.
[25] Happy Jackie Robinson Day, Ara! Hope your day is better than just fair...
[26] Race you to Aaron Judge, rbj.
Still...no fucking hits!! : /
[28] Only 47 more to go. Parents are still active in their mid 80s, so it might be possible.
Happy Mo Day, Just Fair!
Shit
As soon as Paulie said "one pitch could change this game," it was obvious they'd score. Fuck.
Haha!! Sweet.
Now it will be harder to get the no-hit W.
Ah, the old 4-9 put out.
[30] I'll beat you. If I make it at all, I mean...
Crush one, Gary
Holiday!
Or you, Matt!
Fucking beautiful! Thank you, Matt!!
Ahhhhhhhhhh.
Man, that is a relief.
Back to back hit thingies!!
Cotton balled.
Thanks, all. Here comes the The Judge.
Crap
Good outing for CC
C.mon, meat! One more out.
Yes!
Whew!
I'll take a two run single here.
Clippard better not fucking blow this. I'd keep Warren in to start the 8th, but the binder says he's not the 8th inning guy. : /
Motherfucker. I knew Warren should've started the inning...
Here's Dellin for a 5-out save.
Tyler should wear a gasoline can on his left hand.
Ruh roh
Keep pissing of the ump, A's
Dellin! That was certainly a strike. We got lucky on the Lowrie calls...
Dellin to the rescue.
Dellin!!
Pheeeew!
Bullshit, Blue. That was low and outside.
One down
One down
Yikes. That looked scary.
102 mph
Two down
Two down
WAHOO!!!
Word to Big Word. Cheers, y'all.
Three down!
Beauty.
Got two-hit, won 3-2.
I ACCEPT.
RIP, Greg Allman.
Oh, man, yeah. Greg Allman. Damn.
[74] He gave us so much. Soul stirring legacy. Amazing body of work for someone who died before 70. (For some reason I am reminded of Jackie Gleason who lived, hard worked hard and died at 70.) Couldn't ask for more.
CC! CC! We may need Tanaka to be the ace if we are going to make a run this year, but CC has long been the heart and soul of this team, especially in Jeter's decline.* As CC goes so go the Yankees. As long as he keeps this up we have a chance.
*(I am not overlooking Mo, but if you can get to the closer...)
If we make it to the playoffs and need to win a game, I want CC on the mound. He's a winner.
Whaddaya tink?
