Thursday Night Schmooze

varsity

Hey, if anyone is around tomorrow night I’m going to be part of Baseball Night, the latest in Gelf’s Varsity Letters reading series down at the Happy Endings Lounge.  (Here are directions to the bar.)  Greg Prince, Matt McCarthy and Frank Messina are also on the bill.   I’m going to talk  about Banter and then do a little reading.  It should be a good time.  Love to see you if you can make it.

Here is a Q&A I did for Gelf magazine.

WHOA!!! that sign is *right* by my house!!! weird. the Varsity, is supposedly like the first fast food place, or something like that. i went to it when i first moved down to Atlanta (~ Olympics). it was a total grease feast and not for me, at all. it's in Midtown and i don't pass it too often. maybe i do and the sign just doesn't register much. i can't even remember if you can see it from the highway. i'm pretty positive you can. yeah, you should be able to. there's a "Varsity Jr." not far from it, as well. i'm near it often enough, but it's not as prominent and i've never been in.

nice find on the sign, Alex!

The name "Happy Endings" and the location, a (former?) Chinese herbal store; is that supposed to be ironic? Ha!! (Thinking of an episode of Robot Chicken with the clip of a guy trying to escape from a very aggressive masseuse...)
