Red Sox signed Marco Scutaro. I'm sure they'll be shocked when he goes back to being Marco Scutaro.

I was just reading a post by SG of RLYW summing up ARod's 2009. This gave me some wonderful tingles, so I thought I'd re-post it here, for your enjoyment.

His game-tying bottom of the ninth two-run HR off Joe Nathan in ALDS Game 2 may have been the biggest hit of his Yankee career at the time. Then, he hit ANOTHER bottom of the ninth game-tying HR off Brian Fuentes in ALCS Game 2. His two-run instant replay HR with the Yankees trailing 3-0 helped the Yanks to rally and take Game Three."

[1] For some reason, it seems as if the Red Sox take complete leave of their senses when it comes to SS. Scutaro is a 34 year old with a career OPS+ of 92. He also rates as a below average defender. Obviously, the terms of the deal are a factor, but simply giving up a 1st round pick seems a bit much (just because they get one from Atlanta [assuming the Braves don't sign a higher rated free agent] doesn't mean they have to give one away).

[2] As much as Arod's post season's failures were over blown, you really can't exaggerate how great his 2009 post season was. Aggregate stats aside, Arod pretty rescued 3 games (game 2 of ALDS, game 2 of ALCS and game 4 of the World Series) from the brink of defeat with huge hits (and that doesn’t include his late tie breaking HR off Pavano in game 3 of the ALDS).

[3] Looking at their roster moves over the years, it seems they're that way with middle infielders in general. I am a bit surprised that they didn't just shift Pedroia over to short and sign Orlando Hudson or Polanco.
