Taster’s Cherce

I was in the Village last night and needed something to tide me over…what better than a slice (or two)? So I hit Famous Joe’s, just off 6th Avenue, which moved locations from the corner of Carmine and Bleeker not too long ago to the middle of the block.

Joe’s is open late and has a wall filled with pictures of celebrities–Adam Sandler, Leo DiCaprio. It’s not my favorite slice in the city, but a representative one, indeed. You sure could do worse.

I took my slices and sat in the little park across the street along with many others who were enjoying their slice in the warm evening air.

good that you got the 1st post thelarmis, cause i swear as i was waiting for the banter to load i had just started eating a slice and was like i think alex is going to post about pizza in the taster's choice - so my nostra powers were working today.

[2] nice! : )

it might not be that hard to predict though, as it seems alex posts about pizza on wednesday's, quite often. wed are my "pizza night" for over a decade now. just by happenstance, but that's how it's worked out. i seem to remember a few pizza posts on wed's, but i could very well be wrong...

the above pizza looks really good to me. nothing fancy. i like the light crust. i hate any and all burnt foods...

hope you enjoyed your slice!

Friday is my 'cheat day' - now I know what I'm having for lunch!

That first picture is cruel and unfair to those of us not in the NY region.

[5] yeah, i hear ya. i found a good pizza joint here in the atl. but it is somewhat inconsistent. you basically always know it's gonna be great in NY and i make sure to grab a coupla slices every time i'm home there.

here's hoping my slices tonight are close to the above!

[5] Indeed! I demand an end to these pizza posts, it's cruel and unusual punishment!

I used to (until last September) live 2 blocks from there. It was my go to pizza slice on a Saturday afternoon or late night after work. A really great slice, light, high quality cheese, great sauce and if the right guys are in the back, minimal grease. Plus, you have to love the old school pizza stand look of it all. And it was in Spiderman! ;)
