The Last Waltz is a great DVD.

Love love love this version of The Weight with the Staple Singers. Gotta love Mavis' whispered "Beautiful" right at the end.

Man, is Levon Helm effortlessly cool always or what?

One of my favorites.

"Make your mind up Cliff Lee.
Make the deal for free.
Make your mind up Cliff Lee.
And take the load right off the Yankeeeeesssss.
You take the load right off the Yankeeeeeessss."

Or something like that...

Clifton P. Lee is the name and I served on the Texas Range
'Til Cashman's cavalry came and threw me a chunk of change
In the winter of 2010, Yanks were hungry, just barely alive
By August the tenth, the Red Sox had fell
It's a time they remember, oh so well

The night they locked old Cliff Lee down
And the cash register was ka-chinging
The night they locked old Cliff Lee down
And the Yankees were singing
They went, "La, la, la"

Back with my wife in Arkansas, when one day she called to me
"Clifton, quick, come see, here comes a contract like Sabathia, CC"
Now I don't mind choppin' wood, but damn this Yankee money's so good
Ya take what ya need and leave Texas
But the Yanks should never have given the 7th year

The night they locked old Cliff Lee down
and the cash register was ka-chinging
The night they locked old Cliff Lee down
And all the Yankees were singing
They went, "La, la, la"

I'm home and nothing yet. Unbelievable. Come on, dude, spit it out already.

Excellent! (5)

This is an amazing DVD. I played the crap out of this a few years ago.

(2) When Mavis whispers "Beautiful" at the end, the first time I watched, it made me tear up a bit. They are amazing singers, and this version is perfect.

I love Neil's "Helpless" rendition on Last Waltz. I remember reading a review and they said his nose looked like a margarita glass.

[7] Mavis' whisper has the same effect on me. Chills and choked up, but so damn happy.

Neil has always copped to that moment. Marty had to have a traveling matte painted to obscure a hunk of coke hanging out of Neil's nose.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, crush on Rick Danko and all. Love me them Staple Singers. Ah Mavis.

I actually went to the screening of The Last Waltz. I was a wee bairn and felt very important. Of course my brother outdid me by actually being at the concert in SF. Oh well. Loved it anyway.

I can't believe how many times I've checked my computer today. What a nutty thing it is to be a fan. I also have a feeling he's staying in Texas. I'd like to get through the rejection already.

Mavis' verse was great, but the old man's was like liquid velvet.

And Favre is out!

When the ESPN anchor was talking about the long wait being over, I thought he was going to make announcement about Cliff Lee. Instead he was talking about Brett Favre. I hope this is the last time we see him and his penis.

I'm not a huge fan of The Band but I do like this movie. Van Morrison is awesome and when Dylan comes on, it's so legendary.
