What's Cookin?

I’m going to make spaghetti and meatballs. Not traditional Super Bowl fare but it’ll do the trick.

In the meantime, here’s the theme of the day:

So far Puppy Bowl VII is going well.

So nice of the nation to throw a party to celebrate the births of Babe Ruth and Ronald Reagan. Is there also some kind of football game on this evening?

GO STEELRS!

Overheard at FOX Sports:
"This is the biggest television event of the year. We have to bring our A game."
"Don't worry, Joe Buck is available!"

so...whose gonna be the first one of us to say something about popcorngate??

8 RIYank   ~  Feb 6, 2011 7:48 pm

[7] Heh. Yeah, I saw that.

9 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 6, 2011 7:58 pm

Good for Alex!

Jeez, the Packers are starting to go down like flies.

10 Just Fair   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:05 pm

[7] I blame A-Rod for that miserable 1st half. Bollocks!

11 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:32 pm

That halftime show was pathetic. Colorful but awful.

12 RIYank   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:34 pm

Wow, the Peas suck live, huh?

13 RIYank   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:35 pm

Oh, sorry AB, didn't see that.
Yeah, it was terrible.

14 randym77   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:36 pm

[12] Yes.

[6]Funny!
[4] Yes, could they get more horribly conservative than honoring Ronald Reagan? Too bad the sports leagues in the United States don't realize that half their audience may not lean heavily to the right. How about some tributes to Hubert Humphrey?

16 randym77   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:46 pm

[15] Well, there was the Peas singing "Where Is the Love?" With a new verse about Obama and education, or some such thing.

17 byebyebalboni   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:49 pm

[16] The Peas sang "Where Is The Love"? Goodness, would rather watch the Reagan tribute.

18 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:57 pm

Packers are starting to get weak in the knees...

19 Chyll Will   ~  Feb 6, 2011 8:58 pm

[15] Maybe next year they can get Green Day to do a tribute to Lenora Fulani (cuz yunnow, um the Jets will be there... >;)

20 RIYank   ~  Feb 6, 2011 9:03 pm

[19] Holy shit. I'd watch that.

Damn, and Eminem is the star of the commercials. Chrysler and whatever that other thing was, where he was claymationed. Brisk tea.

21 randym77   ~  Feb 6, 2011 9:06 pm

[17] Some Red Staters I know went ballistic.

22 byebyebalboni   ~  Feb 6, 2011 9:09 pm

[20] Really would be lovely to have sports be just sports again with no political overtones. Certainly curious that in a league made up predominantly of African-Americans, they chose to honor a president whose relationship to civil rights was quesitonable at best.

Back to the game. Can teh Packers hold on?

23 rbj   ~  Feb 6, 2011 9:15 pm

[18] 2 big D starters are out.

If I were in Texas, I'd have gone with Willie Nelson for half-time.

24 Chyll Will   ~  Feb 6, 2011 9:16 pm

[20] It would sure add depth to "I Walk Alone"...

25 RIYank   ~  Feb 6, 2011 9:20 pm

[24] If the Patriots are in the SB, the band could appear as the Foxboro Hot Tubs.

26 Chyll Will   ~  Feb 6, 2011 9:33 pm

[25] They should at least let the refs do their White Stripes tribute thingy.

27 RIYank   ~  Feb 6, 2011 10:06 pm

Wow.
Congratulations to the Pack!
And the NFL's A-Rod, or maybe AA-Rod.

28 Alex Belth   ~  Feb 6, 2011 10:12 pm

Not a bad game, was it?

29 randym77   ~  Feb 6, 2011 10:27 pm

Closer than I thought it was going to be after that start.

Big Ben's turnovers were the difference.
