Brrrrrr Stick 'Em

It’s cold, gray and windy out there today. A soup is good food afternoon if there ever was one. Bundle up, settle in and let’s hope the Yanks give us reason to cheer.

Fab Five Freddy takes the hill.

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

when was freddy garcia a power pitcher? he was a sinker/slider guy in seattle.

2 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:11 pm

Sox are sitting Crawford anf his .340 OPS.

3 Just Fair   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:13 pm

What a perfectly shitty day to sit inside and watch the game. Hey Freddy! Go at least 5, wouldja?

4 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:16 pm

4-3ter!

5 williamnyy23   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:18 pm

At least Jeter's ground ball went to the second base side.

6 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:18 pm

Way to go Swish.

7 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:21 pm

YES!

8 Just Fair   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:21 pm

A mammoth shot, eh Kay?

9 williamnyy23   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:22 pm

Best way to avoid a double play.

10 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:23 pm

Alex is just not waving at bad pitches right now.

11 williamnyy23   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:24 pm

Oh well, I'll trade the two run homer for another twin killing.

12 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:25 pm

ah nutz.

13 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:29 pm

Freddy leaving pitches up.

14 Raf   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:35 pm

You still in Peru, William?

15 williamnyy23   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:37 pm

[14] Just got back, but wish I was still there. Think it's going to take me a week or so to get back into the flow.

16 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:41 pm

I was very against the Jeter signing going higher then 3/$45m. I thought that was too high and a year too long. But I was not only against it as a Yankee fan, but as a Jeter fan. As popular as he is, even last year he was already getting a lot of shit from fans.

I'm not saying he's done, but it is looking that way. If so, and we have 2 or 3 more years after this one, it's gonna be really ugly, both watching him and reading comments on various blogs about him.

I just hope IF he continues to suck, he will bow out gracefully before his contract ends.

Andew Jones smiled after hitting into a dp last night. He just smiled after striking out. I do not like this.

18 51cq24   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:49 pm

i can't really picture andruw jones without a smile

19 Raf   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:50 pm

[17] Not everyone can act like a 2 year old and throw a temper tantrum like Paul O'Neill.

20 Raf   ~  Apr 16, 2011 1:53 pm

[2] He has to rest sometime, I think he has played in every game up to this point.

21 Just Fair   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:07 pm

Jones does have a nice smile. I hope to see it more often after postive outcomes. ; )

22 Just Fair   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:10 pm

Bingo!

23 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:15 pm

Morning all, sorry to hear about your lousy weather, I'll enjoy the 84 and cloudless for everyone!

Meanwhile, how has Freddy Fifth Flinger looked?

24 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:26 pm

Whoa, nice catch, Nick.

25 Chyll Will   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:27 pm

Dag, maybe we oughtta chip in and buy the Mutts a big roll of toilet paper. Not even out of April yet and already they're "best" pitcher is...

26 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:27 pm

Yikes, that's some crazy wind out in RF today.

27 Raf   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:28 pm

[22] lol. He's always smiling, isn't he?

[23] He's done well so far, mixing pitches and locations, and more importantly throwing strikes.

28 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:30 pm

Nice job by Freddy thus far.

29 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:34 pm

[28] Fat Freddy Fifth Flinger, I think of him as some ancillary character in a Guy Ritchie film ...

30 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 2:53 pm

Hmmm. Alex out, Chavez in.

31 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:04 pm

Hello all. Nice to see William back on the beam.

Freddy did good!

And, really liking Joba this year. His tag out of Pie during the week was a smart gutsy baseball play and shows what a load he is.

32 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:13 pm

C'mon Sori, don't make this exciting now.

33 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:14 pm

Yes, William, welcome home, bro.

34 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:16 pm

Yeah, like this kind of excitement. Bear down Soriano.

35 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:16 pm

A Rod leaves game with lower back oblique stiffness.

36 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:17 pm

Uh oh, Alex left the game with "low back and oblique stiffness".

Let's hope it's just because of the cold and damp ...

37 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:18 pm

Dammit, Blue that was close.

38 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:19 pm

fuck.

39 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:21 pm

And now a bad luck squibber scores another run.

40 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:23 pm

Sori has some shitty body language right now.

41 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:23 pm

and ... EXHALE.

42 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:24 pm

missed it by that much....

43 mhoward120   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:24 pm

Sori's got nada

44 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:25 pm

THERE YOU GO!

45 mhoward120   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:25 pm

Well, maybe un poquito

46 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:28 pm

Holland has pitched a really nice game.

47 mhoward120   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:29 pm

(46) What about his songwriting partners, Dozier and Holland?

48 williamnyy23   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:31 pm

Think the Soriano signing will work out, but the Yankees can't be married to formulas that require 3+ innings of bullpen work every game. I realize Garcia had a long layoff, but he was around 80 pitches and seemed to be sailing. Like the CC game against Minny, Girardi has to get his starter innings when he can because this rotation isn't always going to be able to give them.

49 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:33 pm

FUCK YES

50 mhoward120   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:33 pm

Don't you wish that YES stayed with the game a little longer before Mo's ap
pearances so they show Mo entering to Enter Sandman - which, in fact, is not played nearly as loud as it should be at the Stadium itself.

51 williamnyy23   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:33 pm

Robbie gets 'em back!

52 Just Fair   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:34 pm

Love me some Robbie!

53 rbj   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:34 pm

Way to go Robbie!

54 mhoward120   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:34 pm

A little breathing room!

55 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:34 pm

Robbie the RIPPER!

Thanks Texas!

56 mhoward120   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:36 pm

That error might soon cost Mo a save.

57 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:37 pm

Groan....Think Mike waited all day to say "Mr. Holland's Opus"?

58 Raf   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:38 pm

[48] It's the Yankees and Girardi, they're married to the idea. Didn't you see Robertson warming up when Soriano got in trouble?

59 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:40 pm

Man and the Bulls were down all day long and came back in the last minute and stole Game 1 from the underdog Pacers. D Rose with 39 pernts. 19-21 from the line.

60 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:41 pm

[57] At least he didn't say the obvious double entendre reference to the Holland Tunnel.

61 Just Fair   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:41 pm

OI! WTF, Gardner. If you can't hit or run the bases what's the use.

62 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:44 pm

[61] He just doesn't make the right reads...Granderson should teach him a few things.
Even R.C. Martin steals a base with more conviction.

63 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:48 pm

All praise be to Mo.

64 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:48 pm

Praise due.

65 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Apr 16, 2011 3:50 pm

Praise him like you should

66 RIYank   ~  Apr 16, 2011 5:06 pm

It is right that we should praise Him.

67 joejoejoe   ~  Apr 16, 2011 6:16 pm

Do the Yankees have the heaviest pitching rotation in major league history?

Sabathia - 290
Colon - 265
Garcia - 250
Burnett - 230

If Silva (280) takes Nova's (225) start it's got to be close.
