So Jorge came to the park and apologized to Girardi today and talked to the press and is doing big time damage control. Good for him.

2 Chyll Will   ~  May 15, 2011 7:50 pm

I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. He deserves that much from us.

3 Bruce Markusen   ~  May 15, 2011 7:54 pm

Posada is just damn lucky that the Yankees no longer have an old school manager like Billy Martin, Dallas Green, or Bill Virdon in charge. I would have paid to see their reactions to Posada's "I don't feel like playing because I'm batting ninth" attitude.

4 rbj   ~  May 15, 2011 7:55 pm

[1] What you said. He talked with Buster Posney on BBTN and apologized to all, including the fans. As far as I'm concerned, it's over.

Besides, we've got more important issues, such as where in heck is our Score Truck? Has it been hijacked by international terrorists? And for what purpose?

O Score Truck, Score Truck! Wherefore art thou Score Truck?

5 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 8:02 pm

Kumbaya!

6 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:03 pm

Oh, god, we have to listen to Bobby V's righteous indignation all night, now?

Jesus, there should be a law about making the games available on YES.

7 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 8:04 pm

Could they NOT interview players 10 minutes before gametime (unless that was taped)

8 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 8:04 pm

6) Could be worse. Schilling could be in the booth all night.

9 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 8:07 pm

[8]

Rick Sutcliffe could be in the booth, and Erin Andrews could be on the field.

[8][9] Nightmarish.

11 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:09 pm

Points taken.

12 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:11 pm

They're putting the game in this tiny little box so they can show the roll call?

13 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 15, 2011 8:11 pm

Am I the only one that finds the bleacher creatures very annoying? I absolutely hated guys like that growing up in Brooklyn..

Griity Gardner!

14 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:11 pm

Nice play, Brett.

Jesus, we're going to start right up, huh?

15 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 8:12 pm

What's the weather report for the Stadium for the rest of the night?

16 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:13 pm

[13] Hahahah!! I went to college in Iowa (from Yonkers) because of people like that, too!

17 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:14 pm

Bald Vinny's website is down due to maintenance.

18 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:15 pm

Nice work, Freddie.

19 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 8:15 pm

Well that was nice.

20 RagingTartabull   ~  May 15, 2011 8:18 pm

I sit in the bleachers and used to be in 39 in the old stadium, most of those guys are great and a lot of fun to watch games with but Vinny is sorta clownish...and he only started going to games in like '98, so he's not as legit as some of the others in the section, he just seeks out cameras more.

21 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:19 pm

This is not a great at bat

22 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:20 pm

Well, there goes the perfect game.

23 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:22 pm

Oh God, a runner in scoring position

24 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:23 pm

Holy crap!

25 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:23 pm

Omg!!!

Do my eyes deceive me?

26 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 15, 2011 8:24 pm

Whoa, a clutch hit!! Could it be..a Score Truck arrival??!

27 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 8:24 pm

Let's all applaud again, let's all applaud again.

28 rbj   ~  May 15, 2011 8:24 pm

Hey, Mark,s got one of them thingies and Derek did a whatchamacallit!

29 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:26 pm

"to shorten one's swing" is some newfangled crazy, meaningless term?

Wtf?

30 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:26 pm

Well, A-Rod had to swing, because Christ knows what the ump is gonna call after strike two.

31 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:27 pm

[28] And they put a vertical line on the scoreboard next to "Yankees"!

It all seems strangely familiar, but... it was so long ago.

32 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 8:27 pm

Hmmm ... A-Rod should bat 9th ... :-P

33 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:27 pm

ITS A HIT ORGY

34 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 8:28 pm

[31] They get vertical lines sometimes. They struggle with the bendy ones

35 OldYanksFan   ~  May 15, 2011 8:28 pm

Has ARod ever looked this bad before?

36 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:29 pm

[35] No, never. Only Jeter.

37 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:30 pm

What kind of swing was that???

38 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:30 pm

[35] Oh, good Lord, yes.

He's looked much, much worse.

Like when Torre hit him eighth, for instance. He was helpless up there then.

39 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 8:33 pm

Of course. Fucking Ugly.

40 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 8:33 pm

Cervellian (and I LIKE Frankie)

41 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:34 pm

Swish bobbled again.

And fuck, here we go again.

42 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:35 pm

Very eerie. Dejas vu.

43 OldYanksFan   ~  May 15, 2011 8:36 pm

It's insane NOT to Shift against Papi.

44 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:38 pm

I'm sick of this.

45 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:38 pm

Damn, nice catch, Curtis.

46 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:38 pm

That is not an easy play.

47 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:40 pm

Good work, boys...one more...

48 rbj   ~  May 15, 2011 8:40 pm

Access denied!

49 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:41 pm

Good fucking work, Freddie!

50 rbj   ~  May 15, 2011 8:41 pm

Only 1 run? Not too shabby.

51 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:42 pm

Exhale.

52 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:42 pm

Yes, hats off to Fred.

53 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 8:43 pm

Lucky to get out of that with just one run for sure.

54 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 8:45 pm

No doubter. Word!

55 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 15, 2011 8:45 pm

Curacao!!!

56 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:45 pm

Excellent.

That thing sounded so sweet off the bat.

57 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:45 pm

Save the bones
For Andruw Jones!

58 rbj   ~  May 15, 2011 8:45 pm

Sweet!

59 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:45 pm

[55] You guys are always speaking Japanese here.

60 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 8:46 pm

Way to go fat guy.

61 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 8:47 pm

Good eye Russ!

62 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 8:47 pm

Well done, Mr. Manicure.

63 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:47 pm

This is a very erratic strike zone. Was big, now small.

64 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:48 pm

God damn it.

65 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 8:48 pm

Jesus, Gardner, that's awful.

66 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:49 pm

Yay. Another play.

67 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:49 pm

He needs to be fined for every lousy bunt.

What the fuck did he do all winter?

68 OldYanksFan   ~  May 15, 2011 8:49 pm

I'm proud to say we are the worst bunting team in baseball.

69 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 8:50 pm

I'm pretty sure most of the Yankee at bats I always miss are Gardner's good ones.

70 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:50 pm

I know, this is obviously a moral failing of some kind. Either Brett isn't trying hard enough or else he doesn't live a clean life. It couldn't be that he just sucks at bunting and Girardi should learn this and stop telling him to bunt.

71 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:54 pm

[70] *cracking up* Exactly! He doesn't live a clean life!! He's off pig-fucking or something instead of practicing how to fucking bunt!

72 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 8:55 pm

I love Granerson!

73 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 8:55 pm

*APPLAUDING!!!*

74 OldYanksFan   ~  May 15, 2011 8:55 pm

HOW GRAND(erson)!

75 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:55 pm

Curtis!
Crooked number!!!!

76 rbj   ~  May 15, 2011 8:55 pm

Curtis!

Hey, has someone discovered the undisclosed whereabouts of Score Truck?

77 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 8:56 pm

[72] Not enough to spell his name right, though. Sheeeeiiittttttt!

78 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 8:56 pm

i actually called that, here at home.

grandy goes BOOM!!!

[hi everyone.]

79 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:56 pm

[76] Curtis had it idling in the back. He was like, "Those guys told me to bring it right here, where the hell are they?"

80 OldYanksFan   ~  May 15, 2011 8:57 pm

Lester is getting a WIDE plate.

81 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:57 pm

[78] Did you set it up with a drum roll? Did you hit a rim shot for punctuation?
Where have you been, anyway? The Yankees are lost without you.

82 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 8:58 pm

[71]
I'm not the fig plucker
I'm the fig plucker's son
But I'll pluck those figs till the fig plucker comes!

83 OldYanksFan   ~  May 15, 2011 8:58 pm

[78] Nostralarmis strikes again!

84 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 15, 2011 8:58 pm

Curtis!!
Man, mlb.com TV is killing me, between every inning is the same wretched ExxonMobil commercial where they're trying to sound "green". EVERY half-inning..bring back the Money Store!

85 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:00 pm

[81] no. but i did clap and pump a fist! i was finishing dinner. and word press didn't have me logged in (for some unknown reason). i'm at my kitchen table...

i've been insanely busy and it's gonna get busier. i'll prolly miss most of the 'dog days' in july/august...

86 OldYanksFan   ~  May 15, 2011 9:00 pm

A rim shot? Dude... this is thelarmis! Left hand accented double flamadiddle!

87 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:01 pm

Sigh.

88 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 9:01 pm

[86] Yeah, but I can't spell that.

89 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 9:02 pm

Even Grit McDusty can't bunt!

90 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:03 pm

[86] that's awesome! i administered performance midterms this past week at the music college. this kids were soooo nervous! i took points off for missed accents, flat flams and botched stickings (amongst other things).

it's funny - i sold A LOT more cd's at the school this week. i guess my students were trying to buy a good grade from me, haha! : )

91 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:04 pm

[82] You're insane, RI.

What is that?

92 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:04 pm

[90] Heehee!

93 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 9:05 pm

[91] Tongue twister.
A friend of mine has a scotch tasting every year. Toward the middle he breaks out tongue twisters. So far nobody has been willing to attempt the Fig Plucker.

94 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:05 pm

97 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:07 pm

Ohh, what a beautiful change.

Did you see that swing?

98 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 9:07 pm

[90]

Are your students "buyanAgradeable"

99 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:07 pm

ugliest batting stance for the ugliest player.

100 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:09 pm

[98] no, but one bought himself an extra week. he was gonna fail miserably. i'm giving him a makeup next week...

I just heard waaaay too many cheers for that.

ugly fuckin' piece o' dogshit. : /

[111] Well, those are True, I'll give you that.

113 Evil Empire   ~  May 15, 2011 9:17 pm

I gotta say these announcers are a lot better than Miller and Morgan. Bobby V made a dumb comment about shortening a swing being newfangled but still.

114 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 9:17 pm

Game of Thrones shows some graphic, gory, middle age style killings. Holy smokes.
Goddamn Fucking Youkilis!

115 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:18 pm

[113] agreed. btw, i was in your home state last nite. played a nice little quaint festival outside b'ham (helena). hope you weren't hit too hard by the weather...

116 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:19 pm

Thirteen Ks.

That's what I'm talking about.

Mattingly even only struck out 35 times.

117 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:20 pm

holy late, weak swing, swish.

118 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 15, 2011 9:20 pm

They're going to let Lester off the hook now with these awful ABs.

119 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:21 pm

And Rod Carew hit .388.

120 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:22 pm

121 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 9:22 pm

Long fucking weekend.

122 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 9:22 pm

[120] Too bad we can't just have Granderson leading off and everyone else batting ninth.

123 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:24 pm

[118] hey buddy! i've got the dexter gordon box set coming this week. there's 1 album on there that's never been released on cd. i have the original vinyl - and put it on cassette ages ago - but now i'll own it on disc! : )

listened to some hank mobley on the ipod the other night. thought of you - remembered seeing a recent comment here from you (i wasn't around for the live thread...), of you listening to sonny clark on your ipod. i love sonny and his 1-handed solos, with all his flat-6th's!

124 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:26 pm

[121] hey Alex: i just wanted to say that i really like the text in the main posts - the font, size and space between the lines. it's very "readable"!

129 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 15, 2011 9:29 pm

[123] Hey man! Which label is that Dexter Gordon set? I'm going to get your solo-set as soon as we get sorted out in the new place, finally room for all my cds and records. Just bought Max Roach "Live in Tokyo" on vinyl too.

130 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:29 pm

131 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 9:30 pm

132 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:30 pm

[129] nice! and THANK YOU, man! no rush. whenever is good for you. i'll be linking my name here to the website as soon as my buddy can put audio snippets up. i hope i'll sell a few copies! : )

oh, just the BN box. i already own all the material, but i get Landslide on CD and it's a great booklet. i think there's another label that has a box set for Dex, but i'm just doing the blue note thing...

i don't have that Max, but Tony's "Live in Tokyo" 2cd set on BN from the early 90's is *fantastic*. that band of his was phenomenal.

[143] He ha ho hu hi heeeeee!

147 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 9:38 pm

148 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 9:38 pm

[137] I had a student tell me Arod is bush last week and brought that play up to me. I told him he was 2 years old when that happened and quit listening to your dad. ; )

154 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 9:40 pm

This guy is maybe the most exasperating player I have ever seen.

Blazing speed yet can't fucking bunt or steal.

155 RIYank   ~  May 15, 2011 9:40 pm

Good. Good, another play.
Keeps the game interesting.

156 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 15, 2011 9:40 pm

157 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 9:41 pm

Jesus.

164 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 9:49 pm

169 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 9:53 pm

168) Yes. But so do they.

Alex is dogshit right now. Dogshit.

178 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 10:00 pm

He gets one good swing per ab, fouls the ball off and then makes an out.

179 William J.   ~  May 15, 2011 10:01 pm

If Arod doesn't snap out if it soon, the Yankees are in huge trouble. His injury was the turning point in this season.

180 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 10:01 pm

Any word on Chavez' foot?

Nice play, Brett.

Holy cow. Gardner, the human highlight reel.

188 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 10:10 pm

That is the kind of catch that ends up sometimes braking the wrist on the glove hand ... nice going Brett!

189 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 10:14 pm

Terrible AB. Terrible.

260 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 10:56 pm

I like Robbie's chances vs. Bard.

261 The Hawk   ~  May 15, 2011 10:57 pm

It's funny, they look almost as bad scoring as they do NOT scoring. LOL

262 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 10:58 pm

I'd sure like to see Robbie square up a 100 mph heater. Oh, boy! C'mon, Cano!

c'mon future batting champ!

264 The Hawk   ~  May 15, 2011 11:00 pm

Way to lay off that, Rob.

266 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:01 pm

Good eye on the 1-1 pitch.

267 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:02 pm

268 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:02 pm

Right. Exactly. C'MON SWISH!

269 The Hawk   ~  May 15, 2011 11:02 pm

Stay within yourself Swish

272 Diane Firstman   ~  May 15, 2011 11:03 pm

I blame Swisher's struggles on his new wife ...

273 The Hawk   ~  May 15, 2011 11:03 pm

I just feel like Swisher wants to make up for the entire season thus far with a dinger here. Recipe for disaster

274 The Hawk   ~  May 15, 2011 11:04 pm

little HIT

275 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:04 pm

Nick, for god's sake you have two strikes on ye

282 The Hawk   ~  May 15, 2011 11:06 pm

284 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 11:06 pm

ok .... I need to sleep ... hope to wake tomorrow morning to a 9th inning walkoff

288 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 11:08 pm

Montero's no fucking bigger than Salty. How come we never hear he's too big to catch? He doesn't look like he's hot shit defensively either.

289 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:09 pm

Think Joba can make it through this inning without giving up a run?

290 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:09 pm

Oh, and you gotta figure Jorgie will lead off the 8th, right?

291 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 11:11 pm

Why not?

292 thelarmis   ~  May 15, 2011 11:11 pm

that's just dumb.

293 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:12 pm

Evidentally not.

294 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 11:12 pm

I can't fucking stand this shit.

295 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 11:12 pm

Hey, let's have another! Because, again, why not?

296 Bruce Markusen   ~  May 15, 2011 11:13 pm

[305] Derek grounded out on the first pitch her saw after that, if I recall correctly.

308 Just Fair   ~  May 15, 2011 11:27 pm

I have a lifetime non-entry ticket to the Gardner bandwagon. Fucking garbage.

309 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 11:27 pm

You know, its one thing to be bad, which the Yankees are very bad right now. Its another entirely to be so utterly boring to watch.

310 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 11:27 pm

And so he does again.

311 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:27 pm

317 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 15, 2011 11:37 pm

I gotta say, Bobby V has been far less insufferable than I anticipated. He's mostly kept his mouth shut. And the other two I like. So much better than those other two bozos.

318 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 11:38 pm

Oh jesus Christ its JD Drew. Get him out

I might have less faith in Teixeira than anyone else on this team.

324 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 11:52 pm

This team fucking sucks. Awful, awful hitting, awful, awful defense, lousy pitching.

325 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 11:53 pm

If Girardi had any balls he'd have this team running laps around Yankee Stadium for every defensive fuckup they've made the past two weeks.

326 Alex Belth   ~  May 15, 2011 11:53 pm

Paps shaking his fist, yelling. Not a good final image to try and go to sleep to, is it?

327 Mattpat11   ~  May 15, 2011 11:55 pm

[326] Watch the Yankees play baseball. It will bore you to sleep.

328 William J.   ~  May 16, 2011 12:09 am

In the past, play like this has made me angry. Lately, it's made me feel much more sad. Can't put my finger on it, but something seems amiss. I'm sure watching Posada and Jorge disintegrate is a big part of it.
