And Happy Birthday Yogi!

2 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 3:18 pm

Dang Ichiro caught that.

[2] I'm don't that "drive deep to right (309 feet from home)" would have made it out.

4 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 3:21 pm

18 All Star appearances is pretty amazing.

5 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 3:21 pm

[3] No, not out, but a double off the wall. Think Bobby Abreu makes that catch?

Old Kid vs. New Kid

8 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 3:34 pm

Rauuuuul! Nice hitting.

9 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 3:34 pm

Good job Russell.

10 thelarmis   ~  May 12, 2012 3:35 pm

double your pleasure, double your fun...

double the lead!

11 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 3:36 pm

Nix nixes Ichiro's glove.

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 12, 2012 3:36 pm

How about that?

13 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 3:37 pm

Eduardo who?

14 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 3:37 pm

[5] I think that most every RF not names Bobby Abreu makes that catch.

15 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 3:38 pm

If someone in the 2nd row had sneezed, Ichiro would have had that.

16 thelarmis   ~  May 12, 2012 3:40 pm

double the lead!

17 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 3:40 pm

Jeter is scuffling a bit these days. Hopefully he snaps out of it soon and gets back to Time-Traveller-from-1999 Jeter.

18 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 12, 2012 3:40 pm

Nix hits a lick

19 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 3:41 pm

[15] Yep. The ball looks like it's dying in RF--I thought Ichiro's out in the top of the first was long gone, but it ran out of juice on the track.

20 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 3:45 pm

Um, communication, guys? Ended well, but still.

21 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 3:47 pm

I would have cued the circus music, but it took me too long to find the link.

You can't hit and think at the same time
-Yogi Berra.

24 Alex Belth   ~  May 12, 2012 3:57 pm

Good start...

25 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 12, 2012 4:17 pm

DIno strikes again!

26 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 4:17 pm

Dino go boom!

27 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 4:18 pm

I hated the IbaƱez signing, probably still do. But I sure can't complain about him so far.

28 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 4:19 pm

Maybe Teix should shave his head?

29 thelarmis   ~  May 12, 2012 4:20 pm

7-string guitar is shredding!!!

30 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 4:24 pm

[27] Well, in limited ABs, he is 2nd in HRs, 2nd in RBI, and with 10 pts of leading in OPS. He's pretty close to our MVP, as many of his RBI have been game winners.

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 12, 2012 4:24 pm

[28] I second that emotion.

32 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 4:30 pm

Does anyoen aside from Thelarmis eat frog legs?

33 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 4:33 pm

Oh boy, Michael Kay with the rotating DH drivel. Using the DH to give a slugger like ARod a half day off is one thing. Using it to rest Jeter (unless he keeps hitting like it's 1999) is a waste of the position. Just give Jeter a full day off once every week or week and a half and put a legitimate DH in the DH position.

34 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 4:34 pm

[32] I have...I like 'em plenty, but often find them not worth the money. MAybe it would be different if I lived where they are more readily available.

35 cult of basebaal   ~  May 12, 2012 4:39 pm

[32] Well, I've never eaten frog legs, but I *would* eat frogs legs, if I had the chance ... does that count?

The Korean supermarket down the street from me carries frozen frogs legs, I may have to pick up a package of them.

How should they be cooked???

36 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 12, 2012 4:40 pm

Pretty 5-4-3.

37 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 4:41 pm

[32] Haven't -- yet.

38 cult of basebaal   ~  May 12, 2012 4:42 pm

Meanwhile, Phil BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOghes continues to confound my expectations ....

39 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 4:43 pm

[35] Fried usually, I think.

40 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 4:46 pm

[35] At somebody elses house?

41 cult of basebaal   ~  May 12, 2012 4:48 pm

[39,40] Well, if I had my choice, I'd let Gator do them ... but I guess I'll just have to ask the intertubes and see what it suggests ...

42 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 4:48 pm

Jeez... remember when Seattle had Junior, ARod, Edgar and RJ? Oh how the mighty have fallen.

[43] Dude, I may have to leave this thread and walk down the street to the H Market right now!

45 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 4:53 pm

However, stay away from Frogs from oil spill areas.

Yikes. Big fly!

47 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 4:53 pm

OK, no shut out.

48 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 4:54 pm

Ah, there's the Hughes we know and love.

49 cult of basebaal   ~  May 12, 2012 4:55 pm

Better a solo shot than a walk.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOghes!!!

=)

50 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 12, 2012 4:58 pm

I want Hughes out for the 8th.

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  May 12, 2012 4:58 pm

Wow, seven innings for Hughes!

Imagine my surprise to come home and fine Hughes on the mound leading 5-1 in the seventh.

52 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 5:00 pm

[50] I want him to finish the damn game, but then I'm pretty old fashioned about that sort of thing.

53 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 5:03 pm

Pretty fast game so far, too.

54 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 12, 2012 5:08 pm

Nix's double clutch fucked that up.

55 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 5:10 pm

Good job Phil. That last hit was a cheapie.

56 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 12, 2012 5:10 pm

Dammit. Oh, well. Good job, Phil. Best start in a long ass time.

57 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 5:10 pm

Seriously? After an IF single and a blooper?

58 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 5:11 pm

The Gritty Gutty Speedy Brett Gardner catches that fly ball.

59 cult of basebaal   ~  May 12, 2012 5:12 pm

Time for the pen ... good job, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOghes!

60 monkeypants   ~  May 12, 2012 5:20 pm

Jeter is flying up that top 20 hits list. He'll finish this season damn near in the top 10, methinks.

61 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 5:25 pm

Robbie!

62 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 5:33 pm

Very fishy home run.

63 OldYanksFan   ~  May 12, 2012 5:35 pm

This is soooooooooo dumb. Why don't they have a vidio review ump. The call could have been made while the guy was still rounding the bases.

64 rbj   ~  May 12, 2012 5:44 pm

Yankees win!
