The Quiet Man

Hiroki Kuroda is pitching in a big park today, against a not-so-great offense. Be nice to see him throw some zeros up on the board and have a strong outing. His family still lives in L.A. so I’m sure he’ll see them this week.

We’ll be rooting for him and the rest of the fellas:

Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Andruw Jones DH
Jayson Nix LF
Chris Stewart C

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Andruw Jones DH
Jayson Nix LF

I asked about this before, but could someone please explain this?

2 monkeypants   ~  May 27, 2012 2:09 pm

And does this make Ibanez the LIDR?

3 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:04 pm

Man, I sure hope Kuroda throws well today.

4 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:11 pm

Way to go, Jetes.

5 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 3:13 pm

Promising start

6 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 3:18 pm

Well technically it was a hit with RISP.

I have seen broken bat home runs before but Todd Frazier did something completely nuts today. He threw his bat the instant it met the ball and the ball landed in the left field seats. His thrown bat landed between the mound and third base. Linky if you are interested. http://tinyurl.com/6nuzvse
1 for for their last 28 with the bases loaded. Craptastic. : (
8 for 48 in the season.

8 mhoward120   ~  May 27, 2012 3:20 pm

1-28 with bases loaded. That's the most pitiful stat of all.

9 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 3:22 pm

Now 8 for 49 with bases loaded.

10 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:24 pm

Bunch of bullshit.

11 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:24 pm

The bases loaded bad luck will change. But it is frustrating.

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 3:34 pm

Man. Stewart has been no joke throwing out want to be thieves!

13 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 3:36 pm

Save the Bones!

14 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:37 pm

Thank you, Mr. Jones.

15 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:38 pm

A Nix Fix!

16 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:39 pm

That's weak, Chris. If you can't hit you should know how to lay down a fucking bunt, man.

17 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:43 pm

Nice play by Pennington. Fine throw.

18 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 3:44 pm

Oh well, at least one run.

19 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 3:50 pm

This ump has my favorite punch out in the league.

20 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 3:53 pm

Nice rip, Mark. Plus, Rays just go ahead of the Sox in the 9th at Fenway park.

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 3:53 pm

A lead off double. Place your bets! Place your bets!

22 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2012 4:02 pm

It's gonna be one of those games, huh?

23 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 4:22 pm

Kuroda is cruising. Now come on bats.

24 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 4:36 pm

Double play!

25 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 4:37 pm

Damn, nice play by Teix.

26 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 4:37 pm

Wow. Giambiesque. Great dp. : )

27 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 4:46 pm

Oakland's pitcher is pretty good. Impressive with the off-speed junk.

28 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 4:52 pm

Hang tight, Hiroki.

29 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 4:56 pm

Wonderful job, Hiroki! Now, for some insurance...

30 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 5:01 pm

Heckuva pitching duel.

31 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 5:07 pm

Hey, a run!

32 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 5:07 pm

Teix! Your turn, Alex.

33 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 5:08 pm

Tex. Nice job, Hoss.

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 5:11 pm

Rats!

35 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 5:22 pm

Time for a double play.

36 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2012 5:23 pm

Just finished rebuilding rotted out steps from the deck (a tiny thing). I actually helped my wife who is the carpenter in our house. Nice to see a a Yankee lead, a good performance by Kuroda (although the A's are threatening) and Tex with two doubles. He must like the barbecue at Flint's in Oakland or the dry non-pollened air for his lungs. I hate his sound bites from yesterday though.

37 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2012 5:24 pm

Time for Logan.

38 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 5:26 pm

Yes, now one more.

39 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 5:27 pm

Phew.

40 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2012 5:27 pm

Seven shutout. Not bad.

41 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 5:27 pm

Sweet. How about some insurance now.

42 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2012 5:30 pm

Again, time for Logan in the eighth and then the disciple, Soriano in the 9th.

43 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2012 5:39 pm

[42] Wouldn't mind Hiroki finishing 8.

44 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2012 5:40 pm

[43] If it works, all for it.

45 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2012 5:42 pm

Hell, Hiroki could start the ninth.

46 rbj   ~  May 27, 2012 5:42 pm

[44] It did!

47 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2012 5:42 pm

Clap Clap Clap for Kuroda. Nice.

48 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 27, 2012 5:42 pm

Nice. The AL west teams match up well vs. Hiroki.

49 mhoward120   ~  May 27, 2012 5:42 pm

Let him start the 9th

50 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2012 5:48 pm

[48] Yeah, what is it, something like two runs in three games?

51 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2012 5:50 pm

[50] Four runs in four games. Forgot Seattle.

52 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 5:52 pm

Pitching in Oakland against this Oakland team, this is precisely the kind of outing Kuroda needed.

53 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 5:53 pm

C'mon no drama Sori...

54 Alex Belth   ~  May 27, 2012 5:54 pm

That outside corner has been there all day.

55 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2012 6:00 pm

Ya think the Sox wish they kept Reddick?

56 OldYanksFan   ~  May 27, 2012 6:00 pm

A this very moment, the top FOUR AL East teams ALL have a RunDiff of +17.

57 OldYanksFan   ~  May 27, 2012 6:01 pm

[56] OK, now ignor that comment.
Thia ia the A's. Does this really count as a shutout?

58 kenboyer made me cry   ~  May 27, 2012 6:02 pm

Sweet Sweep! On to Anaheim...tough matchup tomorrow, Hughes v Weaver.

59 Mattpat11   ~  May 27, 2012 6:07 pm
