Changing Sox

Kevin Youkilis has been traded to the Chicago White Sox. Jon Heyman broke the story. Details to come…

Youk was a classic Boston Red Sox, one of the dreaded “dirt dogs” and out of respect, I hated his guts. He was a tough, pain-in-the-ass out for a long time. Now, other than Pedrioa and Ortiz, the old Red Sox are but a memory.

I don't know if he keeps it up, but that kid Middlebrooks (.326 .365 .583 ) is playing some elite Baseball.

Now I can root for Youk. Ugly as he is, I kind of wanted to.

Of course, he sucks now. For the life of me I can't see what the ChiSox want him for. Still.

Okay, now I get it. Via Pete Abe: Boston pays almost all of Youk's salary, and the White Sox give up an unpromising 25 year old pitcher and a utility player.

Kind of insulting to Youkalis, frankly.

What happened to Youkilis? Seems like he got lousy overnight. The guy used to terrify me. And not because of the ugly facial hair. He could hit.

[4] Aged.
But who knows, he might regain some real value. He was good last year.

Oh, 8:00 game start, Sunday, right. Damn.

Which is the game thread??

"The Greek God of Walks" is a pretty good bad nickname. I can't think of another player with a nickname that involves walks. A tough out for sure, I wish him well on the South Side, where Robin Ventura is doing a pretty great job of managing.

And the Yanks will see the Sox for four games at the Stadium later this week...
