Have fun everyone. Will enjoy a lot of dejected Red Sox fans here in Boston tomorrow. I hope. Now 6-0 Jays.

I see a big game from Nova.

3 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:22 pm

i wish i could hear singleton & coney and watch the game. i could really use that today... instead, i'll be home following online, hoping some of the banter community is around...

GO NOVA! GO YANKS!!!

[3] Got the game on while doing the chores!
Singleton & Cone are great, though they dropped some serious old skool baseball-talk just now about lineup protection.

5 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:24 pm

Almost nifty play by Jeter.

6 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:26 pm

The ol' Jeff Nelson?

7 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:26 pm

Hold 'em to zero, Ivan!

8 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:30 pm

Exhale.

9 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:36 pm

This could be a long night.

10 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:38 pm

Swisher's extra patience and/or guessing wrongly has been killing him with getting caught looking.

11 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:48 pm

oh shit, i didn't even realize our game was on. too busy listening to and watching the braves come all the way back from 9-0. they're now winning 10-9 heading to the bottom of the 9th. crazy.

old friend T-Clip, was waaay wild.

12 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:50 pm

chipper passed george brett and now has more rbi than any 3rd basement in baseball history...

13 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:52 pm

haha! omg!!! homerun off kimbrel. tie game!

i actually called that. seriously.

one of those games...

14 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:54 pm

[12] Chipper dissed Melky this week. Melky did some cross chop with his arms after a homer and Larry didn't like it. Said something about that's why he's not here anymore. I really don't like Coco Crisp.

15 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:55 pm

[14] I was sure that would end "I really don't like Chipper Jones". So I'll say it: I really don't like Chipper Jones. :)

16 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 9:58 pm

[12] hmmm. i love melky and am very happy he's been doing well the last 2 seasons. but i can see him doing that. i don't fault Larry Wayne for calling him out. chipper's actually a stand-up teammate and turned himself into a good dude. he's also really good at baseball.

17 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:01 pm

[16] Respectfully disagree! Jones called out Heyward for his DL stay, look at his own games played list. Also, defending the "Chop" is...well, yuck.

18 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:07 pm

[15] dude, chipper is rather awesome. he wasn't when he first came up. he was 1st round pick on his 'hometown' team. he was really good and good looking. he was rookie of the year and won a world series. he was young, dumb & full o' cum and fucked up on the home-front, but he made right and has been a stand-up guy and team leader ever since.

he plays hard, plays well and tells it like it is. he was also very candid about steroid use. he heard about it, saw it and thought about it. studied all the affects and thought about it morally. he didn't wanna jeopardize his health for his family or disappoint his dad.

he moved to left field when asked and continued to produce. he's been loyal and a no-doubt hall of fame baseball player. he's also better afield than given credit. i hope he finishes with his current .300/.400/.500 slash line.

and, btw, he praised Jeter immensely. admitted to being jealous of him early on and for a long time felt derek didn't deserve all the accolades. they didn't know each other; i believe they met at the first WBC, or something. chipper went onto say how derek was the best dude he ever met and understood all the hoopla.

i can see you hating chipper, but i hope you'll recognize his stellar career and appreciate his baseball prowess. it's been an honor for me to watch just about his entire career up close. he's awesome.

19 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:07 pm

Oh..that was not good. Jorge Teix.

20 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:09 pm

[15] I have tons of irrational hatred for lots of players but Chipper isn't one of them. Mostly because I some him play in Rochester when I was 18 and he was 21. I told my girlfriend-future wife "that dude's supposed to be really good." lol... Nice base running Teix!

21 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:09 pm

[18] Oh, baseball wise he's first ballot HOF for sure. But he's said enough objectionable things for me to not be a huge fan.

Man, what's with the strike zone tonight?

22 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:11 pm

[17] he did call out Heyward. but young jason had been dogging it for awhile. when chipper called him out, the depth of the injury was still unknown.

smoltz used to call out chipper all the time. chipper's injuries have been legit and he's always produced when he's on the field, even at an advanced age. still hits for power and average.

and wouldn't ya know it - he just saved a double down the line in extras! he was positioned perfectly and still has a rather strong arm.

wow, and chipper *just* made an amazing diving stop and unleashed a canon to first! called safe; wrong call. totally out. no doubt. bollocks.

i won't be able to do that at 40. couldn't do it now!

23 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:12 pm

this one goes to eleven!

24 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:12 pm

Please no Joe Morgan discussions. FFS with the extra base hits! Bollocks.

25 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:13 pm

[20] nice.

[21] i hear ya.

26 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:14 pm

Batting practice for the A's tonight so far.

[22] You sound ready to name a song after him! As long as it's titled "Larry Loves Derek - 1996" then I'm all for it. :)

3 extra inning games tonight..

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:15 pm

Boooooooooooooooooooooo

28 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:17 pm

braves score their 11th in the 11th!

29 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:18 pm

"Larry Loves Derek - 1996" will be on my 3rd cd. wait, 4th, all the titles are already set for the 3rd! : )

30 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:20 pm

[27] you still playin' any drums these days?

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:20 pm

Nova likes to keep things interesting.

32 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:21 pm

[29] Hahaha! Other songs on your 4th: "Paulie's Catch", "Don't Throw That Slider No Mo, Marky Wohlers" and "Charlie Hayes' Pop Up Snap Shot". CD title is of course "1996"!

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:28 pm

This is one befuddled line up thus far.

34 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:29 pm

[32] The CD is actually called: "Clay Bellinger"

song titles include:

Sojo the Mascot
Whoa!-lers
Wett Lands
Donnie, This one's for you!
Baserunning 101 by Ruben Rivera
Sado
Jeff Nelson's 'stache

35 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:30 pm

wow. bravos win. 11-10.

amazing comeback.

36 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:36 pm

High wire Nova 5 innings. 7 hits. 5 extra base hits. 2 runs.

37 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:41 pm

it's weird seeing Thome in a orioles uniform, but congrats to him on his 610th homer. he passed sosa for 7th on the all-time list.

38 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:41 pm

Good hustle, Captain.

39 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:42 pm

[34] "Jimmy the Key", awesome!

One day there can be a whole album about A-Rod, am sure..

40 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:47 pm

come on, alex.

3-run bomb. do it!

41 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:48 pm

[39] i like "Andy's Back-Door Honker" myself : )

42 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:48 pm

Fucking change ups!

43 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:56 pm

wow. johnny damon made a highlight reel catch today. over the fence on a fly ball. man, he looks sooo awkward with a glove in his hand! a ridiculously hot chick went over to him after just to touch his jersey.

i shoulda been a baseball playa... ; )

44 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 10:57 pm

[43] I always thought musicians got all the hot chicks? Metal Guys, Soul Crooners, Tom Jones..sadly humble, geeky jazz fans with glasses have not historically been chick magnets..

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:00 pm

Robbie! For the Mattingly. #23. : )

46 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:02 pm

man, is this 2 games in a row where we haven't even walked once?

47 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:03 pm

Swisher's up 3-1. Swings badly at a change up. Then rolls over on another one to go 5-3. And he pulls up lame. Hope it's just a cramp.

48 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:04 pm

chipper is a career .320 hitter with bases loaded. that's good.

49 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:04 pm

[47] oh, crap.

50 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:09 pm

young tommy millone out there after 110 pitches. let's hope he's tired and we reverse the urp!

51 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:27 pm

The Muscle!

52 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:28 pm

mussell!

53 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:30 pm

his BABIP is like .190. there really should be some regression to the norm in the second half. one would think...

54 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:34 pm

Got a chance now..

[53] That low? Yep, certainly should see some of those fall for hits now.

55 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:42 pm

Jones exposed for a triple. Ugh.

56 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:52 pm

Winning this game would be outright thievery. 3 more outs. Let's go!

57 thelarmis   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:53 pm

[56] i'm all about the pilfering!

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 20, 2012 11:55 pm

63 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 21, 2012 12:10 am

I do not want to see these fucking clowns dancing around on their so called baseball field.

64 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 21, 2012 12:11 am
