Alex Rodriguez broke his hand, right? Is there any particular reason he doesn't play the field any more?

2 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 4:15 pm

Also, just for our own edification, seeing as we've doubled down on the righty give up lineup on the most important game of the year, Wei-Yin Chen's splits.

[2] Good Catch. Quick.... call Girardi!

4 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:19 pm

Help me out.
I can watch this Yankees game...
but there are some good repeats on of 'Two and a Half Men'.
So it's between something I've seen before that's funny... or
something I've seen before that's depressing.

At least Teix is back tomorrow.

5 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:20 pm

Um..... this is the game thread, right?

6 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:22 pm

Holy fucking mother of God!
It's started already.

7 mhoward120   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:22 pm

Fucked fast

8 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:25 pm

Bullet #1: dodged.

9 joe   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:25 pm

Wow. Not exactly a clean inning but the first inning in what feels like forever with 0 ER

10 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:25 pm

I wasn't worried at all. I knew Phil would pitch his way out. Not worried at all.

Who's with me?

11 mhoward120   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:34 pm

(11). What's on second?

12 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:39 pm

Hughes Vs. Reynolds.
Any thoughts?

13 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:40 pm

Does Hughes have a Curveball?

14 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:41 pm

[10] Don't worry, he'll shit the bed at some point.

15 monkeypants   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:41 pm

So according to Singleton's analysis, which seems to match the video, Hughes basically missed on every pitch to Reynolds but in the end got away with it.

16 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:43 pm

[13] He's throwing something off-speed with downward break -- he got Chris Davis to ground out on it. But I don't know if it's a change or a curve.

17 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:44 pm

[15] Hm.
I think I prefer that to what I am expecting will happen next time.

18 monkeypants   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:45 pm

[17] Lucky > Good > Expected

19 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:49 pm

LEFTY MASHERS (Jones, Pearce, McGehee) update: feeble 0-3

20 monkeypants   ~  Sep 7, 2012 6:54 pm

[19] I'm not even paying any attention, so I missed that Pearce and McGehee are in the lineup at the same time. Actually, even if I were paying attention, I'm not sure I would have differentiated between them.

21 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:08 pm

Thank fucking Mo!

22 monkeypants   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:08 pm

It's alive...ALIVE!!!

23 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:08 pm

Russel!

24 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:09 pm

Muscle with the 2nd wind!

25 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:10 pm

Nice blast, Russell. Especially after A Rod JUST missed that fastball.

26 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:11 pm

Pearced!

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:11 pm

Eat it McCloud. Go Pearce. Whoo-hoo.

28 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:13 pm

[10] What me worry? Russell Martin, September Stroker!

Steve Pearce, now a Yankee?

29 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:14 pm

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit’s Clobberin’ Time

30 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:15 pm

It looked like it hit off the edge of McClouths glove.

31 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:17 pm

Maybe it's the high socks, but Andruw Jones looks like he lost a pound or 10.

32 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:17 pm

Pearceamania is runnin wild brothers!

33 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:17 pm

50 yr old Roger Clemens is pumpin' em in at 88 mph.

34 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:19 pm

[32] "Pearce"mania.

35 monkeypants   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:24 pm

Jays-Sox rain delay over. Goodbye Yankees-O's.

36 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:26 pm

!

37 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:27 pm

Alex finally caught up to one. Nice!

38 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:27 pm

Yay-Rod!

39 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:27 pm

[35] I'm guessing you saw the best part.

I'm surprised they had that long rain delay. It was completely clear hear -- I guess the rain passed north of us.

40 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:28 pm

Didn't JUST miss anything there.

41 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:30 pm

I missed ARod's HR. Was it nice?

42 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:33 pm

[41] Clobbered.

43 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:36 pm

Yep. I had utter confidence in Hughes.

44 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:36 pm

The real key is CC needs to win tomorrow and start to put some space between the teams.

45 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:36 pm

Nice play for the ol' shortstop.

46 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:48 pm

Phil Hughes can't help but suck

47 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:48 pm

Phil, do not blow this lead!

48 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:48 pm

Yeah, we prefer to have the homers be solo homers. Even if the guy aboard reached on error, we still frown upon it.

49 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:49 pm

Phil 'Its Just a Matter of Time' Hughes.

50 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:54 pm

Very predictable home run b AJones there. Oh well, Bullpeen Rouxlette will hold them!

Loved that ARod tater, he's still got some power.

51 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 7:58 pm

The Swisher error didn't help.

We need more runs.

52 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:00 pm

[51] Double digits!

53 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:00 pm

I have been saying it all season but Phil's location is terrible. Time and time again he misses location on his fastball by about 2 feet. Russell will set up inside to lefties and it winds up high on the outside corner. Bad news. Damn, Jeter. Roll on.

54 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:01 pm

Two for Jetes.

55 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:01 pm

I think we're ten away from Willie

56 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:04 pm

Dag, Swish hit one deep but foul, Cano just got under that one.

57 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:05 pm

[55] 3273 to 3283.

58 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:09 pm

Um.
Cody, the thing about solo homers does not apply to you.

59 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:10 pm

Its gonna be hard to do anything with two decent relievers

60 monkeypants   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:11 pm

[55][57] He should blow past Mays, but he probably just doesn't have enough games left to get to Collins (3315) this season. I figure Jeter will end up with around 3305 this year.

61 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:11 pm

[59] Rapada is good.

62 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:13 pm

[61] His last 11 games have been some kind of no good.

OH FUCK NOT JOBA

63 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:16 pm

Nice out by Boone. Man, it seemed like Markakis was on every pitch.

64 Mattpat11   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:18 pm

Yankees better do some scoring if Joba's coming in

65 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:18 pm

[62] True, but unless he's hurt the last 11 are no more important than the previous 50.

66 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:20 pm

Good job by Boone.

More runs...

67 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:20 pm

A Rod just missed the 1-1 pitch.

68 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:21 pm

Damn, Alex. That was right down the chute.

69 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:25 pm

"Football Sunday with Mike Francessa" Sunday morning on YES..that sounds horrid.
Good job by Camden Yards PA guy there playing Jimi Hendrix!

I'm a little worried about D-Rob coming in here..no Soriano for 6 outs? This is September baseball!

70 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:26 pm

[69] You want Soriano to come in for six outs every night of September?

71 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:27 pm

[69] This is a big appearance for Da Hamma. If there is October baseball, he'd better be right or it will be an early winter.

72 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:28 pm

[70] Yep! Back in my day sonny, closers were real firemen! Like Goose Gossage throwing 75 pitches every night!!

No, but after last night..you really want D-Rob in there to face the middle of their lineup?

73 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:30 pm

[72] Yeah, I do, actually.

I think this is a low leverage appearance, so perfect -- and like kenboyer says, he needs to get right back on the horse. Or bike, or whatever the metaphorical hell it is.

74 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:30 pm

D Rob vs A Jones: Redux. Curious to see how he approaches this one...

75 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:31 pm

(As a general rule, I tend to ignore the recent past, just to compensate for everyone else paying too much attention to it :-))

76 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:32 pm

Woke up late. Missed the Yankee fireworks. Saw the O's fireworks. Man, this has turned into a nail-biter.

Pants low for luck, I see.

77 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:32 pm

Curve ball, right over the plate for a strike. Jones jumped a little. That was the pitch Robertson couldn't get over last night.

Second pitch, another curve, this one moving low and away, swing and miss, strike two.

Same pitch, curve, away, whiff.

Wonderful.

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:32 pm

[75] That wouldn't have worked for us in Germany 1936

79 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:33 pm

Sorianoesque strikeout.

80 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:33 pm

Weiters slams it but to center, easy out for Grandy.

Out-fucking-standing.

81 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:34 pm

[79] That would be the Alphonso version. Not the Rafael version. : )

82 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:34 pm

[74] Good approach!

83 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:35 pm

Mr OK, YOU JUST GOT HAMMERED!

84 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:36 pm

Quick. Everybody text Yes: Steve Pearce for player of the game.

85 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:37 pm

I'm glad that DRob did well, but there should be no smiles in the dugout until untuck.

86 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:38 pm

Nix as a pinch hitter? Now I've seen everything.

87 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:39 pm

[85] Oh, dude, careful. You sound like a Red Sox fan.

88 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:40 pm

More mix and match from Bucky Boy.

Showalter is the very definition of a sourpuss. His ugly face forever making ugly faces. Never seen the man smile.

89 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:41 pm

88) Buck looks like he could have played for Nixon's Watergate Softball team.

90 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:42 pm

[83] That's what SHE said! Wait..I'm unclear on how to use that one..
[88] Painful guy to look at. And they insist on showing him repeatedly on the YES broadcasts.

91 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:42 pm

[89] That's inexplicably hilarious.

Yes!

92 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:43 pm

Ahhhhhhhhh.

Oh, man. What a pleasure.

93 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:43 pm

Derek's going to pass Willie tonight!

94 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:44 pm

@#$%@%@#$%@#%@#$%@#$%

95 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:44 pm

Ah, well. Still good knocking, Swish.

96 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:45 pm

Nick was robbed! Call the police.

97 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:46 pm

He caught the ball between the exact same two fans of Pearce's homer.

98 garydsimms   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:47 pm

Cmon sori

99 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:47 pm

[89] Hilarious. Put McCarver on it, too.

100 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:48 pm

Funny thing is that the same guy in the stands that fought McLouth on the Pearce HR, tried to get the ball out of his glove on the Swisher catch.

Show/Hide Comments 101-122
101 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:48 pm

[97] That's kind of embarrassing. You know, these are still fans in training. We still easily hear Yankee chants in the background.

102 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:49 pm

No HR for you, Mark Reynolds.

103 garydsimms   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:49 pm

Hey yankee fans
..make some noise at the yards!

104 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:50 pm

Two outs. Nice.

105 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:51 pm

Oops.

106 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:51 pm

Nuthin's easy.

107 garydsimms   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:51 pm

Oops.

108 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:51 pm

Ruh roh!

109 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:51 pm

That was a friggin' rope.

110 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:51 pm

The ball doth carry far in Camden Yards.

111 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:52 pm

Andino will be the last hitter and these chanting suckholes can shut the fug up.

112 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:52 pm

[110] Dothn't it?

113 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:53 pm

Finish him!

114 garydsimms   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:53 pm

Phew... back to one up

115 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:53 pm

Unthefucktucked.

116 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:54 pm

Roller coaster. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Try not to puke.

117 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:54 pm

Indeed.

118 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:54 pm

Smiles allowed!

119 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:56 pm

You can take this one to the cleaners, because it is.....

120 rbj   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:56 pm

OK, why does a 7-0 lead turn into a phew win?
good night all.

121 Boatzilla   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:56 pm

...[115]

122 RIYank   ~  Sep 7, 2012 8:56 pm

The Blue Jays blasted Felix Doubront out of the box in four innings.

Probably the Red Sox should fold up Doubront and put him away in moth balls. He might be valuable next year.
