Nothing like leaving Hafner on the bench, and having your DH Ben Francisco batting 9th.

2 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 26, 2013 5:45 pm

A big break today in the Biogenesis thingy.
I'll bet we will be seeing names and repercussions this year.

3 Chris   ~  Apr 26, 2013 5:59 pm

[1] Isn't that one of those event singularity things? If your DH bats 9th, is he really a DH? How long before he's released?

Also, I've taken to calling him Black Hole Francisco, after one of my favorite musicians Black Francis (of Pixies fame).

4 Bobtaco   ~  Apr 26, 2013 6:07 pm

[3] I've seen Bench Francisco and Yankees Sans Francisco tossed around at RAB...

5 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 6:12 pm

Oh great, now Frankie.

6 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 6:18 pm

Nice Nova.

7 Capital Yank   ~  Apr 26, 2013 6:18 pm

[1] But Joe's binder says we need a righty batting 9th, so what can you do? Can't defy the binder, you know.

8 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 6:27 pm

Aw crap

9 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 6:46 pm

I'll take that.

10 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 6:57 pm

Oh for crying out loud.

11 Dillon   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:18 pm

Missed it, what happened to Ivan?

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:19 pm

Sterling said on the radio that Romine was pulled from his minor league game. He figured he was coming up to the big club.

13 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:22 pm

Yeah? Cervelli to the DL?

14 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:22 pm

[11] Don't know yet. Might be his hip.
At this rate, we're going to see the Charleston players by August.

15 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:24 pm

From RAB:
7:58pm: Sweeny Murti hears Cervelli has some kind of fracture, but the team hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

16 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:27 pm

The actual Tweet:
Sweeny Murti
I'm hearing its a fracture of some kind for Cervelli. Again, no surprise given that Romine was pulled from game at AAA.

17 Dillon   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:27 pm

[14] Thanks, hope it's nothing serious. Would like to see Nova redeem himself with another killer summer.

18 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:30 pm

Man that @$%$ing sucks for Cervelli. Damn.

19 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:30 pm

Grapevine says Nova's elbow.

20 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:32 pm

Why in the fuck would any catcher nowadays not keep his meat hand behind the back? Ugh. Bad form.

21 Chris   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:33 pm

So fuckin bummed about Cervelli.

22 Chris   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:35 pm

And with our luck, Nova needs Tommy John.

23 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:35 pm

elbow pain for Nova? That doesn't sound good.

24 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:39 pm

[15] et al. Is that from getting beaned yesterday? Well, it was fun rinding his hot streak/new approach/steroid infusion while it lasted.

25 Chris   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:40 pm

[20] Yep, it is pretty fundamental.

26 OldYanksFan   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:40 pm

So Brains is out at least to the ASB.

27 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:41 pm

Meanwhile, Brett Lawrie is a crazy man.

28 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:45 pm

99% of the time that ball bounces over the wall. Love them triples.

29 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:45 pm

Overbay. Triple. Yankee Stadium.

Three terms that do not immediately go together.

30 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:47 pm

Overbay killing them with speed!

31 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 7:55 pm

Time to get excited for Romine to get a shot. Next up, Gary Sanchez.

32 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:05 pm

So, does Austin sit and back up Chris, or vice versa and let's see what the kid's got?

33 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:08 pm

I'd pay $5 to see Kay's 1970s long hair.

So will we see Gary Sanchez at some point this year or only Romine?

34 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:08 pm

Atta boy, Phelps.

35 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:09 pm

[32] Are you asking "should" or "want" or "will"?

36 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:12 pm

[35] It's "what do you think the binder says." the binder, after all, must be obeyed.

37 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:13 pm

[33] Don't expect to see Sanchez this year. He's 20 and in the class A Florida league. But Romine has been touted for several years now. He's 24 and and has progressed right on up to AAA and now the bigs.

38 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:16 pm

[36] I suspect the binder says Stewart. I think it will be Stewart, until the Yankees sign some trash heap 38 y.o. double-backup C. I want to see Romine, and I think that it should be Romine because he should probably play regularly rather than part time.

Is he RH? Hell, he could probably be the starting DH against LHP, over Francisco.

39 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:18 pm

The Jays do hit them some home runs.

40 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:19 pm

[38] I agree. You don't develop a guy by having him sit on the bench. Throw him in and see if he's ready or what he needs to work on.

41 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:21 pm

I say Romine starts more than Stewart. Why the hell not?

42 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:22 pm

[41] It's so crazy, it just might work!

43 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:22 pm

Is this Bronx Banter or M.A.S.H Banter. Sheesh. Where will it end? I hate to say this, but Cervelli is kind of accident prone.

44 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:31 pm

Jays announcer: "And now there are reports that Kevin Youkillis is headed to the DL."

And this would surprise...no one?

45 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:39 pm

This game is so boring I'm enjoying the stick ball banter between Kay and O'Neil. Though being a Brooklyn boy we played 'stoop ball' every day.

46 rbj   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:41 pm

[44] not me. I could understand keeping him off the turf, but if he can't start on grass, time for the SWB shuttle.

47 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:45 pm

[44] Holy Shit-ta! (Belushi style)

This team is being drained of personality by injury. There's no one left with any back story except Cano.

[45] Me too. I was remembering a game we used to play in Jersey called Wall Ball. You bounce a tennis ball off the driveway and wall to bat.

48 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 26, 2013 8:47 pm

[44] To hell with Pyouk. He's been a whining injured player for several years. That was a waste of a roster spot.

49 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 26, 2013 9:05 pm

Is it so freaking difficult to use a bullpen arm for more than one inning?? I can't stand the 7-8-9 format, such a waste.

This game is making me cranky for some reason..maybe time for the Knicks game.

50 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 9:06 pm

Yep, the Jays sure do hit them some powerful homeruns.

51 monkeypants   ~  Apr 26, 2013 9:16 pm

Brett Gardner must have borrowed something from Frankie Cervelli's locker.

52 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 26, 2013 9:29 pm

Oh Christ

53 Mattpat11   ~  Apr 26, 2013 9:31 pm

woo-hoo!

54 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 26, 2013 9:32 pm

No Joey Bats vs Mo! Hooray!!

55 Boatzilla   ~  Apr 26, 2013 9:41 pm

[49] Dude, when are you moving?
