[0] Hiroki has been so good I can't imagine him pitching badly, and so I do not share your worries, Alex. In any case, the O's seem especially likely to succumb to his particular brand of mix-n-match strikes.

Off topic - NYCers, a request, if you have a moment. A work colleague of mine from Germany is visiting NYC this weekend, and wondered where she would be able to watch the Champions League final live, and what a "quintessential" NYC gift for her boyfriend would be. She originally asked me, knowing I was "from NY", but I had to gently explain that I was an upstater. I told her I would try to get her some answers, though, so here I am! ;)

Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance!

Shaun - there is always the soccer bar options like the football factory, but a lot of regular pubs and bars will be showing the game. Where is she staying or wanting to watch the game?

I think the final will be on Fox, actually. Live. So she can watch it anywhere -- in her hotel room, whatever.

Hm, so our lead-off man has an OBP of .208.

Interesting approach.

Joey Votto has an OBP of .484, in case anyone is interested. That's utterly sick.

Girardi's a genius.

[1] The name that gets thrown about on the Soccer Thread over at BBTF is Kinsale's ...

15 Ara Just Fair   ~  May 22, 2013 6:54 pm

[13] There goes my Hiro. He's ordinary.

16 rbj   ~  May 22, 2013 6:57 pm

19 RIYank   ~  May 22, 2013 7:06 pm

Good for Rob. That's good.

24 RIYank   ~  May 22, 2013 7:13 pm

Dammit. Looked sort of like a rally.

25 rbj   ~  May 22, 2013 7:24 pm

Sensible move by Joe.

Long night ahead.

Sensible moves don't always work out.

[27] True, but I'd rather lose the game than aggravate Hiro's injury. Missed the dinger, passing storm blocked the satellite feed.

30 RIYank   ~  May 22, 2013 7:35 pm

I feel like we were gonna lose the game no matter what.

Well, let's hope Kuroda is okay.

31 Hank Waddles   ~  May 22, 2013 7:35 pm

Just got here -- what happened to Kuroda???

32 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  May 22, 2013 7:36 pm

Uh-oh..what happened to Hiroki?? Out after the second inning..

33 rbj   ~  May 22, 2013 7:42 pm

Ball hit Hiro in the right calf, but also seems to have a lower back issue.

34 rbj   ~  May 22, 2013 8:16 pm

Hmmm, picked off, but the baseball gods took care of it with a DP.

35 Shaun P.   ~  May 22, 2013 8:16 pm

[33] CRAP.

So much for my optimism . . .

[3] That's good news!

[2] ms october, she's staying somewhere in Manhattan, not sure specifically where . . . thanks for the suggestion!

36 rbj   ~  May 22, 2013 8:28 pm

[35] Dortmund vs. Munich? Find a good German bar. Beir und wurst. Hmm, may have to go that route myself.

37 Boatzilla   ~  May 22, 2013 9:13 pm

What a shit-ass game. G'night folks. Off to work for me.
