1) Casa Mia is Sparta is very good, and it's a few feet off the boardwalk at Lake Mohawk. Beautiful spot to sit and enjoy a slice.
Great ice cream joint across the street, too. Great brew pub across the intersection.

I like this piece, and the site is cool, too.
It's a shame how corporate ticket holders, and the "rattle yer jewelry crowd" (still love that one, Alex) has forced kids, and lower income fans into the far reaches of the Stadium.
It's upside down. Sitting close to the action should be a privilege reserved for kids, and old folks.
Maybe the Yankees could have a few summertime matinees where the first few rows of primo seats are reserved for fans under 16, and over 65. First come, first served at the gate. Season ticket holders for those seats would have to give up those few games.

I've been pushing a scheme for years where the "get on TV" seats would never be sold. They'd be part of a lottery: Whenever you buy upper-deck or bleacher seats (almost all of which happens electronically now), you have an 0.X percent chance that the computer will spit out a "Bonus Upgrade!" and you'll be behind the plate instead.

I ran the numbers back-of-the-envelope style a long time ago, using prices more humane than the ones they charge today, and the loss to the teams would have been surprisingly modest. In exchange for goodwill and PR that might have been incalculable.

Been pushing that scheme for years... but somehow my car dashboard, my cats, and the walls of my office seem never to have picked up on it. :)
