Limited damage. Unfortunately I'm getting the TBS feed. Not sure how long I can take.

2 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:21 pm

I love cervelli

3 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:29 pm

Greene is toast.

4 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:39 pm

DInger!

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:40 pm

Double dinger!

6 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:40 pm

I like Hedley.
[3] I don't like green toast.

7 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:41 pm

Damn, the orbs are flying.

8 seamus   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:41 pm

yes! belly to belly!

9 seamus   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:41 pm

[7] are you back from Maine? How was the trip?

10 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:46 pm

[9] Yeah, I'm back. It was great! A little island off Acadia. I saw porpoises when we were kayaking. (I was going to write, "I saw porpoises kayaking with my son," but thought the better of it.)

11 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:50 pm

Guess it's Huff time.

12 seamus   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:52 pm

[10] That's too bad (about how you wrote it). Written that was sounds exciting. Definitely not too bad about kayaking and having a good time. I've gotta get back up there myself.

13 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:52 pm

Oh fer cryin out loud.
Dammit.

14 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 1:57 pm

Nice look back by Huff.

15 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:10 pm

Good AB for Jeter, back from 0-2
I'm a little embarrassed for Paulie-didn't know the meaning of posthumously, and asked Kay.

16 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:12 pm

Good AB for Ells too.

17 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:16 pm

At least avoided the DP.

18 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:18 pm

Great hustle by Ells

19 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:23 pm

The thing about this team? What makes it so hard to watch? It's agonizingly boring. It's the boringest Yankee team I can remember.

It was a huge mistake letting Robbie go.

The best lack all conviction and the worst are full of passionate intensity.

20 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:24 pm

It's Betances time folks.

21 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:25 pm

Why the &^$%$$@#@!#!#@!@!@ wasn't Adam Warren in this game?

F'n Joe.

I was there yesterday, and I knew what was coming when he put in lousy Francis.

Brutal managing from this guy the last two days.

22 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:26 pm

Ok, *he's* not boring. He's someone I actually look forward to watching, to be sure.

I guess I'm just realizing how big a blow the loss of Tanaka is just in plain terms of watchability, having something about the team to look forward to, to plan on watching.

23 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:27 pm

Oh really? If he understood how big this game is - knowing they are facing Darvish tomorrow and you don't usually get him twice, WHY WAS HUFF IN???

24 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:34 pm

IBBs are bad, but not as bad when Betances is pitching.

The control, and also sang froid.

25 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:34 pm

Did I mention that I loved Cervelli?

26 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:37 pm

Whew.

27 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:37 pm

Good positioning there. I thought that might fall in.

28 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:41 pm

Phew
Now a score truck appearance. Remember that?

29 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:41 pm

I am still *incensed* that Huff was in at that point of the game. Incensed.

Warren was supposed to be the closer yesterday (should have brought him in to see if you had a chance at winning the game), so he's available, no?

Furious with Girardi.

30 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:44 pm

(God, did you see the way Ortiz threw the bat away in that clip? What an asshole.)

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:44 pm

[28] I think about it all the time. Mighty days of yore.

32 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:45 pm

[30] Missed it. One of multiple reasons I hate him.

33 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:46 pm

[32] It was so obnoxious I literally winced and recoiled.

34 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:49 pm

Uh, his control, yeah. Hm.

35 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:50 pm

Oh my god.

36 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:51 pm

For the love of God.

37 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:51 pm

Any way Texas could have caught that?

38 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:52 pm

TEX

39 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:52 pm

Betances has been a little less something lately.

40 rbj   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:53 pm

I take off after two innings, come back to a tied score and now this fresh crap?

le sigh

41 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:53 pm

So that's how we're going to lose this game?

God.

42 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:53 pm

Oy.

43 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:53 pm

Well, that's the ballgame. Really needed a pick me up today. Betances has been a mess today, sadly. Fuck.

44 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:54 pm

Glad Kaye and Paulie were playing grabass and ignoring the game when that crucial leadoff walk happened. One thing that Kaye does that REALLY annoys me is check out when the game is on the line.

45 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:56 pm

And maybe you don't have all the pressure in the world on Betances if you don't start the 7th with Huff, and maybe Betances' outing looks different. Because now you're bringing in Warren, anyway. I think Joe has done a flat out horseshit job these last two days.

46 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 2:59 pm

Gee, looks like it would have been a terrible idea to have Warren start the 7th. Nice job, Joe.

47 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:04 pm

How is Gardner not RUNNING THERE???? HOW???

You have a guy with an obvious extensive delivery and he's a righty. I am beside myself at how this game has been played and managed. Absolutely beside myself.

48 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:04 pm

Booooooooo.

49 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:05 pm

Why did Jeter sacrifice instead of Gardiner try to steal?

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:06 pm

Yaaaayyy!

A hit! A hit!

Yaaayyyyy!!

51 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:07 pm

Carlos!

52 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:07 pm

[49] Gardner isn't good at stealing.

Even so, bad decision.

53 seamus   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:08 pm

yes!

54 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:08 pm

Beltran comes through! I was about to say that managers rarely win but can lose, and this was a great example. Might still be the case.

55 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:09 pm

Dino-mite Bellie!

[49] because Gardner hesitates and Jeter hits DPs?

56 MSM35   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:09 pm

Girardi's a genius.

57 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:09 pm

So Warren for the ninth, right? I mean, it would just be dumb to bring in D-Rob.

58 rbj   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:11 pm

Tied up!

59 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:11 pm

[57] That is my feeling, as well, considering what we have coming up.

The only reason for a different take though, is that they have the heart of the order coming up.

You might have to bite the bullet and commit to using D Rob for two if it comes to that.

60 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:12 pm

Dumb.

61 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:12 pm

Well, there's the answer. All this looks different, imo, if you don't have Huff start the 7th.

62 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:13 pm

The thing is, I think Warren is almost as good as Dave.

63 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:15 pm

[62] He certainly looked like he had great stuff today. I think he can be a little game to game, but he looked strong today.

64 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:17 pm

Geez, he's good. Headley.

65 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:17 pm

Hedley!

66 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:20 pm

Oh, man, that sucks.

That SB was costly. And it's D-Rob's fault, too.

67 rbj   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:20 pm

Aw crap!

68 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:21 pm

Right over the damn plate. This team is brutal. I think I return to the position of giving up.

69 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:21 pm

Damnation. Guess it's a loss we can chalk up to Joe.

70 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:23 pm

DRob effed up by not holding Bautista at first, never looked at him. Ya gotta do more than pitch.

71 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:23 pm

Every single damn time they tied it up today, they immediately blew it the next inning. What an utterly disgusting, disheartening game.

72 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:24 pm

[70] Well, that an on a two strike count throwing a ball that was right over the damn plate. Love the guy, but that was a brutal inning.

73 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:24 pm

Darvish tomorrow. So much for hope with this crappy team.

74 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:24 pm

[71] easy there...

75 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:27 pm

I hope that in late September we'll look back at this game and say that's why we missed the wild card.

76 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:28 pm

[74] You have to let him run. It's his way.
[75] Me too. I hate the wild card.

77 jjmerlock   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:30 pm

[74] I gotta say, this is about as depressing a game as I can imagine.

78 RIYank   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:31 pm

Ugh.

Giveaway game.

79 rbj   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:31 pm

Blergh!

80 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Jul 27, 2014 3:31 pm

Melky f'ing Cabrera.

81 Boatzilla   ~  Jul 27, 2014 7:39 pm

I just wanted to check in to confirm there was a "why the fuck did they let Cano go" reference, a "boring line-up" line and a "why isn't Gardner running" jab.

Good on all fronts.

What about having some one with pop pinch hit and bringing Ichiro in for defense to catch that bloop in the 9th?
