Yeah, Brett has definitely been having some kind of little chat with Ricky, and not about stealing bases.

2 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:19 pm

Babe Gardner has three homers and the Yanks have three runs in the last 24 hours. Girardi is obviously line-up-construction challenged.

3 monkeypants   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:26 pm

Gardner has been pretty clearly the best player on the whole team, no? At least the best position player .I'm not sure how to rate Gardy v. Tanaka (at least on a rate basis).

4 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:29 pm

Way to get out of it, there.

5 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:30 pm

[3] I would have to say so.

I always said Gardner was roughly as valuable as Ellsbury. I wonder why he's paid so much less.

6 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:42 pm

[5] Your question is rhetorically, no? Brett Gardner leads the NY Yankees in home runs. What alternative universe is this? Good for him!

7 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:42 pm

[5] Less cool name; not as handsome; has a kind of bulbous head; can't steal as well; only one ring to two...any others?

8 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:42 pm

Weird, no YES feed option on the MLB.tv broadcast.

9 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:43 pm

And the word is rhetorical. I hate typing on an iPad, and the auto correct.

10 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:48 pm

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

YOU STEAL 3RD, SLAPPY!

11 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:49 pm

Well, that inning sucketh.

12 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:53 pm

Great fucking job, guys, great fucking job.

13 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:54 pm

Well, that's a bit of redemption, good play, Slappy!

14 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:54 pm

BREAK UP BRETT GARDNER! He's a one man team...
Great catch!

15 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 7:56 pm

That pitch before the rios hit was a strike.

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:01 pm

[14] Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like he can pitch ...

17 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:04 pm

She-itt

18 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:04 pm

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

19 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:07 pm

If that strike was called on Rios, none of that would have happened

20 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:11 pm

Remember those good feelings after the All-Star break?

Yeah, me neither ...

21 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:16 pm

Yay, plays (by the other team)!

22 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:23 pm

Ugh, this game is really not going well so far...

23 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:28 pm

[22]Second night in a row JP Arrencibia gets a big hit..that's not good. With all that, amazing the team is still even close to the WC. Any chance at all to see Pineda or Tanaka again this year?

25 monkeypants   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:42 pm

[23] With all that, amazing the team is still even close to the WC.

Now, if MLB would just add a few more WC teams, then everyone could still be in it!

Any chance at all to see Pineda or Tanaka again this year?

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

26 monkeypants   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:43 pm

[19] Unfortunately, that game is taking place in the same universe where Gardner leads the Yankees in HRs.

27 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:46 pm

Hey, Gritty ... DON'T GET THROWN OUT AT 3RD!!!

28 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:46 pm

Safe.

29 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:48 pm

Safe. Foot off the bag.

THROW THE FLAG!!!

30 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:49 pm

Dammit, how about a double steal?

31 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:50 pm

Fucking pathetic.

32 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:54 pm

Better.

33 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:54 pm

5-Hour Energy!

34 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 8:58 pm

Watching Tex motor home tagging on that shortish fly to center by Beltron was agony. Is there any position player with less speed than him?

35 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:01 pm

[34] I think McCann is even slower.

Score Truck delivery!

36 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:02 pm

MEGAN'S LAW!!!

37 mhoward120   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:03 pm

I don't get it. Why are all those guys in Yankee uniforms running around the bases?

38 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:05 pm

Well, huh.

Ooopsies!

I'll take it though.

39 mhoward120   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:05 pm

This is officially a dream, not reality.

40 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:07 pm

Who were those people in pinstripes?!!?!?

41 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:08 pm

Just got home from 9-yr old grandsons LL game. His team was down 5-1 after 1 inning and came back to score 11 runs in the 2nd. His team mercied the other team 15-5 in 5th inning.

Sort of like Yanks scoring 7 runs this inning!

42 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:25 pm

C'mon, Brian, be a McCAN ...

43 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:27 pm

Nope.

McCAN'T.

Bleh.

44 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:28 pm

[7] Really? You think that's why Cashman signed the contract with Ellsbury?

45 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:29 pm

That's using your Headley!

I want double digits.

46 Alex Belth   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:30 pm

Ah, the Score Truck arriveth.

47 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:30 pm

Is this the MLB.com team announcing?

48 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:32 pm

And Zoilo's legs give us the double digits!

49 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:35 pm

[47] It's the Texas guys. Busby?

50 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:35 pm

[47] this is the Fox team, Buck yecchhh, Tom SI Verducci. I'd bet half the YES fans haven't figured out where "Fox Sports 1" is.

51 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:35 pm

[44] :)

52 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:36 pm

I caught Grandpa John and Grandma Suzyn driving home tonight. It was the tail end of their big inning. Whoo-hooo. I could not find the game on Yes or the other bullshit channel so I had to search for bullshit channel number 5. And it's Joe Fucking Buck announcing ‽ Holy first world problems.

53 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:38 pm

[50][52] Buck & Verducci are both awful..I'll hit the Spanish channel if it's between them and Ma & Pa Sterling.

54 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:39 pm

Oh, I saw it said "Texas (home)" and thought it meant it was the Texas crew.
I've been listening to John and Suzyn, which is interesting because they're a good 30 seconds ahead of the tv feed.

55 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:43 pm

Hmm.
Why Warren in this situation? And why is he not throwing strikes?

56 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:44 pm

Ugh.

57 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:52 pm

Betances is throwing.

58 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:54 pm

Oh christ.
WTF is wrong with Warren?

59 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:55 pm

Off night for Warren, usually reliable

60 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:59 pm

[58] warren commission? Dallas? Coincidence?

Betances in with bases loaded. I'm sure he hates it.

61 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 9:59 pm

Oh fuck. FUCK.

62 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:00 pm

OMG!

63 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:01 pm

Just fucking awful.

64 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:02 pm

This stops now....

65 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:02 pm

See [63]

66 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:05 pm

Rougned, a name with Viking origins?

67 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:10 pm

Finally.

Uh, good job, Dellin. (He knows I'm lying.)

68 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:11 pm

[66] Funny, you don't look Viking.

69 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:13 pm

Damn, an Official Scorer decision away from the cycle!

70 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:15 pm

Jetes fools Sterling.

71 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:17 pm

[70] So not close.

72 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:18 pm

The eighth inning saw 84 pitches.

73 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:20 pm

Hey ho!

Sterling was a little hesitant... (once burned, twice shy)

74 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:20 pm

Let's laugh again!

75 thelarmis   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:21 pm

Just leaving work. Gotta drive home. Just wanted to say...

Double Digits!!

And...we better fucking win.

76 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:21 pm

TESH!!!

77 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:21 pm

[73] So not close (the other way).

78 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:25 pm

Am I the only one worried about Whitley in the 8th?

79 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:25 pm

Here we go again.

Come on, Chase, get the fuck on the job here.

80 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:25 pm

[78] Not anymore.

81 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:25 pm

[78] posted not a second too soon!

82 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:26 pm

I've been quite impressed with the MLB.tv crew tonight.

Balanced and informative.

83 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:27 pm

Blargh.

84 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:28 pm

[82] Wait, who are you talking about? The broadcasters on mlb.tv? I thought that was the Fox crew.

85 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:30 pm

Huh, I guess Megan's Law *can* field, after all ...

86 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:30 pm

I'm seeing Dodger game on MLB network, not online

87 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:31 pm

Thank you, Chase W. One run is ok...

88 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:32 pm

[84] Well, I'm not sure. Fox graphics pop up, once and a while, but they were talking about Harold Reynolds (who works for MLB.com) and they've been really neutral all game. If this is the Rangers' Fox Sports announcers, I'm very confused ...

89 cult of basebaal   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:34 pm

McCAN'T sure does squint a lot at the plate ...

90 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:35 pm

Adcock pitching. I remember Joe Adcock on the Braves in the 50's, anyone else that old?

91 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:36 pm

[89] I bet he wears contacts - or maybe he needs them?

92 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:43 pm

HAMMERED.

93 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:44 pm

Arencibia , an orange spider?

94 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:47 pm

Sigh.
Nothing's easy. Tying run comes to the plate.

95 thelarmis   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:47 pm

McSquint has had vision problems for a few years now, iirc. That's when his average started dipping from being a perennial .300 hitter, or close to it. I believe he had an eye procedure or two. He used to be a hit machine down here. You know, a professional hitter.

96 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:48 pm

[95] Welcome home, by the way.

97 thelarmis   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:48 pm

Make the stink go away, ground into a double play!

98 thelarmis   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:50 pm

Thanks. In my driveway...

The scoreboard on my fon just said D. Robertson is pinch running. Would be cool for the Hamma to pick himself off! He should get two outs for that. Game over.

99 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:50 pm

Oh, man.
Something in the Dallas air? Our normally reliable pitchers just can't throw strikes.

100 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:51 pm

Ok, officially, we can begin to flip out.

Unbelievable.

Tying run in scoring position. Oich.

[98] Yeah, Daniel. No relation.

104 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:53 pm

Homer or a double. Just make it quick.

105 thelarmis   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:53 pm

Double double digits.

Not good for run diff.

Just win the damn game!!!

106 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:53 pm

Oh, Dave. Dave Dave Dave. Bouncing the first pitch, not good.

107 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:54 pm

Girardi looking a little pale.

108 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:54 pm

Or just walk the ballpark.

109 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:55 pm

3-1 to Rios. I don't really want to see them loaded for Beltre...

But that's what it's gonna be.

110 thelarmis   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:55 pm

Jesus Fucking Christ!

111 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:55 pm

I haven't had the chance to see too many games in recent weeks but this is FUCKING TERRIBLE. No way Beltre doesn't win it.

112 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:59 pm

Whew x 1,000,000.

113 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 29, 2014 10:59 pm

Holy fucking shit. Yikes.

117 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 11:00 pm

Way to make it look easy, David!

118 coleman42   ~  Jul 29, 2014 11:01 pm

Hey guys, we WON! Goodnight

119 RIYank   ~  Jul 29, 2014 11:03 pm

That wasn't the best game this year, but think how much worse it would have been if Beltre had bounced it off the wall.

120 Ara Just Fair   ~  Jul 29, 2014 11:04 pm

[114] The reverse jinx is my specialty. : )

121 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Jul 29, 2014 11:07 pm

I could not and did not watch Beltre's AB. How was he put out?

122 coleman42   ~  Jul 30, 2014 8:02 am

[121] flyout to Gardner waiting on the track. Beltre's swing made it look like a homer
