Madison Bumgarner is the Giants’ latest–and greatest–Whirled Serious pitching hero and the Giants are the champs again.

The Royals hung in there but had no answer for Bummie G.

Drag.

Not a bummer or drag at all. I'm glad the Giants won! It was a great Series; wish I could've watched more. What a performance by the Mad Bum!!

If you haven't seen it, check out the MLB.com statcast of the Gordon play.

I was CRUSHED he didn't go for it. Like collapsed on the couch crushed.

It looks on this full angle replay that he never really considered going for it and thus never had a chance. He would have needed to kick it into gear earlier and sustain it longer to make it.

Yeah, by the time he was nearing third, it was too late and the stop was a good one.

But if he'd gone hard for all 270 feet, who knows? Probably a close play, but the kind you are supposed to force the defense to make because they have to make it perfectly.

"...when it got by him, I just put my head down and ran..."

Why not until it got by him? The lesson here is bust it out of the box every time.

Sometimes the shortstop is going to miss the four-hop grounder. Sometimes the outfielder is going to lose the ball in the sun. And sometimes it's the seventh game of the World Series and you should be leaving everything on the table with every breath you draw. I hope every youth coach uses this video.

[3] I am not a member of the cult of Pence, but he would have scored standing up.

[4] And someone has to say it: so would have a certain newly former shortstop of our mutual acquaintance. That's not deification, just recognition of proper attitude.

Pence is hysterical to watch. Did anybody see when he tagged up from third last night? I thought he was going to ram into the stands behind home plate. Guy has serious hustle. Looks like a total pain in the ass to play with thought. Not really rah-rah, more like AAAAHHHHHH!

6) Yeah, and he's all knees and elbows. No grace. His style is ugly as hell. But it works for him.

I've been telling my wife all series that I think Pence looks like Bub from "The Wire." Maybe it's just me. lol...

I've been a Pence fan from the beginning, when he was with the 'Stros. He's so weird! Looks exactly like a guy I know from my local pizza joint. Pence was htiting 25 homers every season and stealing a decent amount of bases.

The AB where Pence hit a pitch three times on one swing, a while back - that was cool.
