Qualifying

David Robertson has been a good Yankee. Aesthetically appealing plus a good performer.

Now, do they pony-up big dollars to give him a 3 or 4 year deal?

I think they want to wait to see how it turns out with Dellin; if Robertson forces the issue they probably let him walk. Having them both on the squad is a luxury the Yanks could obviously afford, but if Robertson's thinking he strictly wants to close and won't like playing the set up man (which he'll eventually be at this rate), he's looking elsewhere as we write.

I would like for him to re-up, but if history has proven anything it's that closers not named Mo are almost always replaceable.

My two cents: If this is a team that has WS potential (doubt it), the Yanks need Robertson and Dellin.

I'd like to keep him for a few more years. It'll help shore up the back end of the pen and give Dellin a little more time. At the very least, I hope he'll stay another year on the qualifying offer. He'll be wanting to have another great season to get a big contract.

The Yanks have so many areas of weakness, and why not keep one of the few areas that they have a strength? If you can shorten the game, that will help put together a winning team. With so few home-grown stars, lets keep Robertson.

Robertson is not a star and there's little need for a mediocre team like the Yanks to pay for a star closer. Dellin and the other guys in the pen should be fine next year.

They'll need to wait out the next 2-3 years to get rid of Teix, Beltran and A-Rod's deal, then regroup. I have visions of Bryce Harper hitting 450 ft homers into the Bronx night!
