For You Blue

bluedive

You have to think funny tonight, even if you’re also sad, because we’ve got Yogi in our thoughts and in our conversations. That’s a pretty good guy to have on the brain, don’t you think?

So let’s hope the Yanks win this one cause that’s another thing Yogi was about–winning. When it counted. Hardly anybody did it more.

Who the hell knows what to expect from Ivan Nova tonight. He looked lost last time out and now he’s got to face the Gashouse Gorillas. I mean, it really could be a long night. Guess that’ll just give the announcers more time to talk about Yogi. Might be worth listening to John and Suzyn tonight, come to think of it. That’ll be boozy n schmoozy.

Never mind the eulogizing, (there’s a game to play):

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Great title Alex, May have to pull Concert for George out this weekend

In 1957 the Braves brought in a player named Bob (Hurricane) Hazel after 100 games and he lead them to a World Series. Greg Bird is the hurricane of this year. He is really fun to watch.

That was nice.

1) Nice!

Let's Go Fellas, HUGE game to win for the Yog. It'll take a miracle from Nova.

But one never knows...do one?

5 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:25 pm

Oh, come on.

6 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:26 pm

(1) Go, Johnny. Go.

9 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:39 pm

Don't know if it'll last but Nova's stuff looks better tonight.

10 MSM35   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:41 pm

Stroman is a local kid and a wonderful pitcher. But he went to Duke so it's easy to root against him.

11 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:44 pm

Mike, Yogi wasn't one of the most famous people ever on the planet. Settle down.

12 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:44 pm

10) I like that he wears number 6.

13 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:47 pm

Whew.

14 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:47 pm

Bird of prey!

15 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:49 pm

(11) Ma & Pa got into a long & pointless digression about Exhibition Stadium for some reason..making me miss Kay, which is difficult to do..

16 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:50 pm

I wonder if Ronnie is going to break up.

17 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 6:55 pm

Wait, the Aflac duck doesn't really talk? I'm so disappointed.

18 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:03 pm

Well, he's having no trouble with Bautista.

19 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:05 pm

Uh oh.
No please.

20 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:06 pm

This trio of batters Donaldson, Bautista, Encanarcion (sp) is the scariest troika in baseball. Bautista has been cold the last few games, that's a blessing.

21 thelarmis   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:07 pm

Greetings from NY!

Game on radio with my dad. About go to my brothers' in Queens.

Hope to make it early enough tomorrow for the Yogi ceremonies...

22 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:08 pm

Nova seems to be getting better as the game goes on.

23 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:15 pm

After that incredible game last night, and the passing of Yogi; us Yankee fans are raw emotion personified. It's a lot of pressure on the team to call this game a must win, but what else can it be?

24 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:24 pm

Oh, Didi.

25 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:24 pm

Oh Didi!

26 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:24 pm

[24] jinx!

27 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:28 pm

Nice, Nova keeps his head.

28 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:28 pm

Didn't cost us

Can somebody explain to me how daily fantasy sports contests are not gambling?

30 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:31 pm

Let's Get Hits: Let's Score Runs!

31 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:32 pm

That's brutal, Chase.

32 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:33 pm

Headley has just been killing us.

33 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:33 pm

[26] Whoa.

34 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:35 pm

[32] no fuckin' shit. (Yom is over)

35 thelarmis   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:45 pm

Gotta keep Nova in for the 6th.

36 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:50 pm

Alex looks gassed these past 3 games. That was a good pitch and he couldn't get a good swing on it.

37 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:52 pm

Do you think Arod lost his timing sitting down against the Mets?

38 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:53 pm

Not saying my prayers helped the good guys to win last nite. But I did include tonight in the same prayer. Bagel and lox check. Tuna check. Coffee check scotch check. Game on check!

39 MSM35   ~  Sep 23, 2015 7:53 pm

I have always liked Nova. His arm may not hold up but he is not afraid. Hope he can match zeros because the Yanks look overmatched execpt for Ellsbury and Bird.

40 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:02 pm

Nova muy macho.

41 MSM35   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:02 pm

He did a great job couldn't ask for more.

42 RIYank   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:06 pm

Yeah, that figures.

43 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:06 pm

44 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:06 pm

0-2 pitch? Why not bounce it?

45 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:09 pm

FUck.

46 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:10 pm

Can you believe this? Now Nova on the hook.

47 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:11 pm

Nova deserves better. So does Yogi.

48 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:13 pm

49 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:15 pm

God.

Jesus.

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:16 pm

I kept thinking Brett's feet were going to get tangled up beneath him.

That was scary.

52 MSM35   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:17 pm

Need a couple. Jays don't want to go to the pen but Stroman hasn't gone this deep. Call it.

53 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:17 pm

Whew/phew, Gardner was shallow for the potential throw home on a tag, almost thought he wouldn't get there.

No joke, runs needed...

54 knuckles   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:23 pm

What's Strohman got on the underside of his cap's bill?

55 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:24 pm

Now we just need a blast

56 thelarmis   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:25 pm

Slade time.

Let's go Ack!

57 thelarmis   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:25 pm

60 thelarmis   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:27 pm

It stayed up too long. Damn.

61 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:27 pm

Think we will get to the NJ pen now.

62 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:27 pm

Can't fault Ackley there, he smashed it. Yanks need a divine break.

63 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:27 pm

Damn auto correct. BJ

64 MSM35   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:27 pm

Stroman is finished now. Stay close and steal it.

65 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:30 pm

I'm so goddamned sick of these Blue Jays.

66 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:31 pm

2,3,4 Bailey is no match...

67 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:31 pm

[61] I think the Score Truck got diverted to NJ.

68 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:33 pm

Wordpress thinks BJ Pen is some kind of pleasure palace.

69 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:34 pm

Right move RI ?

70 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:36 pm

Hell of a pitch by Bailey

71 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:38 pm

C'mon, Bailey...

72 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:39 pm

HEY, where is that?

73 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:40 pm

I mean, of course.

Obviously.

74 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:40 pm

FUCK!

75 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:40 pm

There goes the division.

76 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:41 pm

It's a miracle we stole one game off these fuck heads.

77 thelarmis   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:41 pm

Fuck shit piss hell and damn.

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:41 pm

I like Russell Martin, but nothing could make him happier then sticking it to the Yanks, and consequently breaking our hearts.

All is not lost, the season is not over...

79 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:41 pm

And FUCK YOU with that fucking FOGHORN.

JESUS.

80 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:42 pm

Now there's a strike out

81 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:43 pm

Girardi, your mission for the last few games is to line Tanaka up for the WC game.

82 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:44 pm

Why was Girardi using spare bullpen parts in the season's most important game yet??

83 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:47 pm

Bailey pitched well, and was squeezed. Why he came inside at all is the mistake, and McCann called for it.

84 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:48 pm

Really, Yankees suck chant...on the day we mourn Yogi. Cannot be forgiven.

85 rbj   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:49 pm

I'm logging off. I'll just sit quietly and reflect on Yogi's life.

86 Alex Belth   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:50 pm

They are the better team and the hotter team right now. All the bounces and calls seem to be going there way. Can only hope for an extremely painful fate to meet them come October. Would just love to see that Stadium sulking in misery. Don't give a shit how long it's been since they haven't made the playoffs. Their whole rah rah exuberance can fuck off.

87 MSM35   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:55 pm

Wild card time. One game to qualify. Too bad but Joe was unwilling to burn his bullpen when he was not sure of getting a run anyway. Time will tell if he was correct. Stroman was too tough. Damn he is good and will be in the future. Better find some guys to match him or hit him.

88 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 8:59 pm

So what's the scenario? Right now the Yanks would face Houston at home for the okay in. If they win would they play KC in the first round?

89 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 9:00 pm

Okay was somehow substituted for play by auto correct,

90 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 23, 2015 9:06 pm

Pressure off, still optimistic for the post season. And if any of you think I'm talking out of turn; little ol' me can't jinx the NY Yankees.

91 MSM35   ~  Sep 23, 2015 9:14 pm

How do you prepare for a one game playoff? Rest the older guys? Play some kids to see if you may need them? Rest your pitchers? Setting up the bullpen is a no brainer. But do you play the lefties against a tough lefty for Houston or Texas? Joe is on the hot seat and so are we Banterers. No second guessing allowed. Bear down. You have a little less than a fortnight.
