April Showers

wet street bags

Austin Romine, man, he’s been so good while Gary Sanchez gets healthy. Romine was part of an offensive barrage yesterday at the Stadium—guy had 5 RBI’s. Brett Gardner hit a couple of homers and you know that man Judge went deep once again too (and on an inside-out Derek Jeter swing), this one to right center.

The final was 12-4.

Cooler today and overcast. See if the O’s can salvage a game.

Never mind the ego trip:

Let’s Go Yank-ees!

I want a sweep

2 Evil Empire   ~  Apr 30, 2017 12:12 pm

Brooms would be nice. Do we get Gary and Didi back this week?

3 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 12:22 pm

Didi came back yesterday, not sure about Gary

4 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 12:26 pm

Matt

[3] Thanks. I feel dumb for asking now. I haven't gotten dialed in yet this year because of work. I check the box scores everyday and it's been fun just seeing them getting better. Today is the first time I've had time to sit and watch.

6 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 12:48 pm

Sigh.

7 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 1:08 pm

Phew

8 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 1:16 pm

Untied!

9 cult of basebaal   ~  Apr 30, 2017 1:47 pm

Howdy everyone!

Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

Tottenham will finish above Arsenal for the 1st time in 22 years, and the Bombers are BACK!

I'm EXCITED about this year!

The kids look GREAT!

11 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 1:55 pm

Judge spits on your shift.

12 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 2:12 pm

retied, and no DP.

13 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 2:14 pm

Blegh

14 51cq24   ~  Apr 30, 2017 2:15 pm

ridiculous to let montgomery start this inning, insane to keep him in after he walks the leadoff hitter

15 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 2:18 pm

Nice scoop Carter

16 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 2:41 pm

[14] On the other hand, the middle relief has kind of sucked.

17 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 2:51 pm

Damn, does look like an out

18 51cq24   ~  Apr 30, 2017 2:53 pm

[16] true, which is a problem. it would be nice if warren hadn't been used up in a blowout yesterday.

19 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:18 pm

They said, If only Aaron could but get a whack at that...

20 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:40 pm

Stayed out of the DP

21 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:41 pm

[19] And he does...

22 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:43 pm

I guess that was to be expected.
Well, winning run at the plate now, tying run on base...

23 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:45 pm

Balked!

24 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:46 pm

Oh, it was clearly a balk!
(I thought.)

25 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:47 pm

Gosh, I really feel bad for Buck.
Not.

26 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:48 pm

Up to Didi

27 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:48 pm

I accept that walk!

28 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:49 pm

(I will also accept another walk, and it would not surprise me at all.)

29 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:50 pm

Oh, new pitcher, okay. Still, a new reliever in a situation like this? Could easily walk Didi...

30 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:51 pm

Huh. Well that's a weird call.
I thought it was definitely a balk but I'm sure Cone knows.

31 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:54 pm

I accept that base hit, tied up!

32 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:54 pm

Oh yeah!

33 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:54 pm

I love me some Didi.

34 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:57 pm

Free baseball

35 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:57 pm

Hmph.
Well, free baseball!

36 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 3:58 pm

Man, I have missed Didi, seriously. Nothing against Torreyes, but the team is so clearly better with Didi.

37 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:01 pm

I dunno about this, might be one of those "trying to hard to be smart" moves.

38 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:02 pm

Wait, what the hell?

39 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:03 pm

Uh, yeah.
Too freaking smart.

40 51cq24   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:04 pm

unbelievable

41 51cq24   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:05 pm

[40] not the part where he dropped a pop up

42 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:06 pm

Goddam it.
Figures the cute move would come back to bite us in the ass.

43 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:06 pm

Wtf?

44 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:07 pm

7 wasted pitches and a lost out.

45 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:09 pm

Our new starting first base man, Bryan Mitchell

46 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:09 pm

I'm at a festival with my family. At least he caught that popup!

47 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:10 pm

Word! Let's go offense.

48 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:10 pm

Yup. Okay.

49 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:10 pm

I will accept a walk off home run here.

50 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:10 pm

Holy moly, look at the Mets' score. The Nats dropped 23 runs on them today.

51 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:11 pm

Ok. Let's win this NOW!!

52 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:15 pm

Nice choice, dude.

53 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:15 pm

Excellent start.
Okay, now I will accept a walk, or an infield single. Come on, Brettsky!

54 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:15 pm

Brett gets the bunt down!

55 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:16 pm

Hahahaha! I accept that!

56 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:16 pm

Oh, shoot, I'm way behind I think, damn.

57 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:17 pm

Nice sac, Hicks

58 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:17 pm

How about a suicide squeeze just for shits and giggles.

59 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:17 pm

Bronx Bunters

60 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:18 pm

That's a sac I can accept, for sure.

61 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:18 pm

Bird?

62 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:19 pm

My game page is freezing up. Man on 3rd, 2 outs?

63 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:19 pm

Michael is confused.

Ah. Okay, that's acceptable. Here we go, nowhere to put Starlin!

64 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:20 pm

Hey, Stein. I want ya to lean into one.

65 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:20 pm

The craziness continues

66 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:20 pm

Only one out

67 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:20 pm

[62] Nope. Bird was HBP.

Yeah, Gameday froze. And my broadcast feed is behind.

Bases loaded, one out, Castro batting.

68 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:21 pm

Damn, I have a bad feeling about this Starlin AB. Just decent contact, dude! Come on!

69 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:22 pm

C'mon, Castro!

70 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:22 pm

Fuck. What a pick.

71 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:22 pm

Argh. Goddamit.
Up to Da Judge...

72 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:22 pm

Dammit

73 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:23 pm

Thelarmis, Starlin tapped it slowly to short, but Hardy made a nice play and fired home, just in time.

74 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:24 pm

Crap. Thanks, RI

75 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:24 pm

Goddamit!
Oh, what a wasted opportunity.

76 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:24 pm

Modammit!

77 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:25 pm

Sounds like we failed to score and Mitchell will be on the mound for the 11th...

78 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:25 pm

Judge down swinging, by the way.

79 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:28 pm

We've left sixteen runners on base this game, oy.

80 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:30 pm

Oh and the Rangers claimed Kozma.

81 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:33 pm

Rickard steals second with two out, we give Machado an IBB. Gonna pitch to Trumbo.

82 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:34 pm

Keep the updates coming. Thank you, please!

Oh, and get Trumbo out quick.

83 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:34 pm

And the IBB was wrong.

(As ALWAYS.)

84 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:36 pm

Trumbo singles up the middle. So not only do they get the lead but now there's an insurance run in scoring position.

85 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:37 pm

Unbelievable. Absolutely ridiculous.

86 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:37 pm

Well, fuck.

87 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:38 pm

Ugh.
Another single up the middle, Judge fires home to try to get Machado at home, nope, they go to second and another run scores. So now we trail 7-4.

Too much managing. Plays, ugh. IBBs, yuck. Hideous.

88 Ara Just Fair   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:39 pm

Bottoms of the 10th was a bad omen.

89 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:40 pm

Oh great, I go fix my steak and potato, come back and we're losing, and now the satellite is out

90 thelarmis   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:40 pm

Crap. Alright, I'm out folks.

91 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:44 pm

[89] You aren't missing anything worth watching.

92 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:45 pm

Ugh, now it's back

93 RIYank   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:46 pm

And that's the ballgame.

94 rbj   ~  Apr 30, 2017 4:46 pm

Well, at least the write ups shouldn't be entertaining

95 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2017 8:45 pm

I missed a wacky game it seems.
Lying on the sofa watching Cubs-Sox, ESPNs tv coverage is so so terrible..endless segments on the two teams loving each other, endless shots of K Bryants family, spending half an inning on a pretaped interivew...who produced this? Absolutely awful presentation all around.

96 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Apr 30, 2017 8:55 pm

Wow..getting worse. Why is Buster Olney on television? And the three-person booth seem to spend 75% of the time NOT talking about the game action..time to hit the radio feed.

97 rbj   ~  May 1, 2017 9:14 am

Jazz, it's ESPN, they seem intent on shooting themselves in the foot until they're dead.
